So your distaste for the visual you linked about people in costume... had only to do with potential CM confusion??? While also commenting on people dressing up in a 'childrens theme park'??

...riiiighhht
Believe it or not but Disneyland is a children's park. it is designed for children to have fun with their parents. Just because it gets overrun by single adults with lots of disposable income and Peter Pan syndromes that want to cosplay as characters has nothing to do with it.

Yeah... I can't tell you the number of kids that tell me they can't wait to see a 19th century missouri town or old New Orleans. The kids practically claw their way there on their own.

The big problem is clearly there are TONS of cosplay-style guests visiting. When you have 72 Rey’s walking around and guests can’t distingush which is a Disney cast member, that’s a problem. Or what about a group of Stormtroopers parading down the walkway...and a guest just happens to slip on their helmet and end up backstage with the group afterward?

I get it. Yeah it’s fun to dress up, but a line needs to be drawn somewhere.

It's true - no one ever hears the full quote that W.E. Disney said at the opening:

"To all that come to this happy place, welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. However, if you do not have kids you are not welcome. Get out!"

Then they should have thought ahead not to sell costumes in the park. You want people to show what they bought in the park as it leads others to buy it. That's like having them sell toy guns in the 90's but asking you not to play with them until you're outside the park. Half the fun was running around TSI with your gun or pretending to shoot back at the pirates on POTC. You don't want adults in costumes, don't sell adult costumes. Harry Potter is able to have wizarding clothing available yet not overlap with employees. C'mon Disney.

It's hard to be the Potter Swatter when you can't equal one if it's immersive qualities.

REALITY:
1) Disneyland is a wonderful theme park for all ages
2) LARP is not allowed in DL
3) Maybe Disney shouldn't sell costumes you can't wear in the park, but oh well.
4) 99.99% of DL guests won't give a womprat's butt and would never play "dress up" anyway.
5) Everyone will survive and start arguing about Mickey's Runaway Railway.

To the distraught SW fans, I gotta ask: Since Disney has made it clear they don't want you dressing up as SW characters in the park, would you rather they not sell costumes as merchandise at all? Even if it was a special, neat-0 super-expensive-for-SW-Whales only exclusive you couldn't buy elsewhere? I mean, no one's forcing you to buy a costume you can't IMMEDIATELY wear.

A true Star Wars fan would already have a custom made costume and would never buy the cheaply made stuff at Disneyland.

runDisney allows some costumes, but still slightly restricted due to safety.

Believe me: the ban on adult costume is a blessing. After seeing some of the 'less succesfull' creations.

Some pictures of conventions shared above are not my cup of tea, but at least they are decent, well though out and constructed costumes. Imagine those costumes but more home made, dollar shop level, slightly damaged after walking in it for half a day. Picture that all around you.

My thoughts, do not sell things inside the park that can't be used in the park.

So in this case. The costumes that are banned inside the park should not be on sale at SW:GE.

Sell the items at World of Disney at DtD, but have a multi-lingual sign stating they cannot be worn inside the parks. Plus a large sticker with the phase "NOT allowed to be worn inside the Parks" on EVERY banned item.

If Disney does want to offer a full experience including the costume at DtD or the Hotels, each guest participating needs to sign a waiver with the rule in bold print, plus the CM's must verbally remind the guests multiple times during the experience.
