My wife and I, who incidentally told each other for the first time I love you, honeymooned at WDW and had many amazing trips together to the world have split and have two blocks next to each other in leave a legacy that I would love to get rid of. Short of scratching them off with a key, is there any official way of saying goodbye to this memory I don't want to have?

Sulfuric acid
Oxy-Acetylene torch
Crowbar
Spray paint
Sandpaper

The possibilities are endless, but certainly not legal.

I'm sure they must get request like this all of the time, next time you are there maybe pop in to guest services or give them an email and see if they can do anything.

Just ignore it. Nobody looks at those things anyway except the owners of the tiles. In our lives, there are good memories and bad memories. Your LAL tile is both. When you find a new Love, just don't mention the tile. It's not like he or she is going to come across your old tile by accident. Make some NEW memories.
When I walk the paths at WDW and read the Walk Around The World bricks, I often wonder how many of those people aren't together anymore...then I move on...which is what YOU should do.:animwink:

Since I don't see any that have been "erased" and because I can't see them going through the expense of etching a whole new tile, I am going to say no.

AS others have said, just ignore it. My ex-wife and I both enjoyed WDW and went with our kids a number of times (had our 10th anniversary dinner at V&A in fact)

She no longer likes to go to WDW because of the memories we had there. I still go all the time. What's past is past, if you don't move on you will be stuck in the past forever. We have a LaL tile by the way, but our kids are on it

Slightly off topic and forgive me for hijacking the thread (didn't want to start a whole thread for one question), but my wife and I have talked about doing the LAL thing at EPCOT or buying one of those tile things on the ground outside of MK. Anyone know about how much those cost these days either at EPCOT or MK? Thanks.

Neither are available any more. Sorry

how about they un-leave(destroy) that entire area? and bring Epcot back to EPCOT Center's ideals/standards.

If they do take it down, I want my tile back. I have seen some negative comments to the whole idea of leave a legacy. I liked the idea. Our tile is my two sons and I would want to keep ours.

I could be wrong, but when you could still leave a legacy I was looking into doing it and one of the reasons why I didn't was because (and I am almost sure I read this) is that it wasn't going to be a permanent structure.

I forget the exact date, but the 'deal' is the LAL plaques will be displayed "on property" until a certain date.

They don't have to be in the front of EPCOT, but they do need to be displayed until that date is up.

Many of them are so faded you can't tell who any of them are anyway, not that they were very good quality to start with

While I don't have too big a problem with LaL, I do think they could have done it in a way that's more aesthetically pleasing. Instead of Giant monuments, why not incorporate the tiles in some other way, like a fountain or something similar. While it wouldn't please everyone, I think it would look a lot better than the giant stone structures we have now.

What's the point of a "legacy" if it's only for 10 years?

Glad we didn't do it.

I assume the bricks at the MK will be permanent? Anyone know?

To the OP, I've always wondered how a situation such as yours would go down. I always assumed at least a few of those smiling couples wouldn't last as long as the tile display. Sorry for your predicament. I think you'll just have to turn away until they're eventually removed.

My boys are on the wall. Love to visit their sweet little faces every trip. I wouldn't have a problem with the display coming down early if I could retrieve the actual tile. Fat chance of that, tho. We did buy the granite etched coasters with their image in early 2007 when they were available. In fact, we bought 4 sets of 4: my boys, my 2 aunts, my dear cousins, and my late grampa's tile (Kilroy was here Forever 10-2-04). We mixed all 4 sets so each set had 1 of each tile. Then we split the cost 3 ways and distributed the sets: 1 for me, 1 for the cousins, 1 for my aunt, & 1 for my gramma. Wish they still offered some etched merchandise. I'd prob'ly take a chunk out of savings to buy up some stuff for my boys to have as keepsakes.

Don't know for sure, but barring any major construction around the entrance, I wouldn't expect to see them go anywhere. I doubt they get any complaints about them, and they're not in the way like LaL.

We have a brick outside the MK. When we got it the contract said if they remove it before 10 years (well past that date now) they will refund your money.

It did not say will only be there 10 years. They could be there forever, they just needed to put a clause in there so that if they ever do remove them years and years after they were put in to prevent somebody from complaining and suing. Say 50 years later they have all these people claiming they thought it would be forever and mental anguish, etc.

They may very well be there forever though...

Even if you were able to get rid of it, I bet each time you walked past the area, you'd think, "Boy, I'm glad I got rid of that tile." You'd still have the memory, because it's a memory. I have two tiles up, I've looked at them a couple of times, but when I don't bother to find them, I still think about them being there.
