Disney Wouldn't Reimburse for Unexpected Death

All that matters is the legality of the situation...which some people find out the hard way. Boyfriends/girlfriends have zero legal standing to anything, at least in the US.
Customer service isn't necessarily bound by legal definitions, however. I don't think Disney's response in this instance would have been different had the OP been married to their partner (or at least I hope it wouldn't have been different).

Others, myself included, have had good customer-service experiences with Disney. I'm sorry that that didn't happen in the OP's case.
My post was (mostly) a joke. I must admit I too have had mostly good customer service experiences. But mine were very small compared to the OP. I do wish they did something, like a partial credit for the OP.

I know. And it made me chuckle. :) But I decided to respond to the more serious point that I thought was underlying it.

I think Disney should have just allowed them to reschedule their trip free of charge. I realise they didn't have to, but it would have been the nice (and, in my opinion, right) thing to do.

It is important to know what the insurance that you buy actually covers. There are many companies out there with all level of insurance and some are better than others. And not every situation is covered by insurance. These are all tough lessons to learn and we get better with each experience. I understand your disappointment, and I am sorry that you can not see yet that companies are not obligated to take a loss because of someone's personal issues. I imagine that with the hundreds of thousands of people that they get, that family deaths happen frequently. No business can run like that.
I just spent the last...9 months dealing with car insurance. Ugh! They did everything they could to avoid covering ANYTHING. They made the process of getting reimbursed just about as miserable as they could possibly make it.

Another driver did something very stupid and totaled my car. I JUST got the final payment from my insurance company a few weeks ago.

Buyer BEWARE!

Insurance companies' business model is to TAKE premiums and NOT pay claims.

Yes, in 2023, insurance is a scam, not a solution.

The OTHER driver's company was responsible for paying the claim. Nevertheless, my insurance did everything possible to shortchange me, delay, and STILL are attempting to raise the upcoming premium on another car in our household, even though it was not at all involved in the accident.

It is such a scam!
