Disney World's Reality Problems

More Reality problems:

Agrabar in the middle of a tiki world

Monsters nor Aliens are from "tomorrow" - just a different realm/universe. diesel cars are from yesterday...

There's a European castle at the end of main street USA! totally ruins my reality...

Do people in Canada wear kilts?! - well at least they are correcting THAT reality (sorry low blow, too soon?)

And lastly for 32 (?) years Epcot hasn't been a community

I'm sorry, but arguing that WDW doesn't follow reality is a silly one. If you want reality, go visit New York City

I guess I am in the minority here, but I think every county in the World Showcase should have some type of ride. I do not care if it is a "real" world ride or not. My wife loves to visit the shops and look at stuff, but I would like to even see a roller coaster type ride in the World Showcase. How about another Disney Mountain - Ft Fuji in Japan. Disney is not reality and that is part of the fun. When I think of Arendelle, I think of the county of Norway. So bring it on. The last time I was in Norway it was for a Princess Breakfast. PS - How about bringing the new Ratatouille ride from Paris into the World Showcase for France. I also think that Mexico could use a new attraction.

This reminds me of the book that corporate management folks liked to hand out to employees,Who Moved My Cheese? It's all about how change is inevitable and how we should all embrace and adapt to change....

The problem is, the book has a major flaw, it assumes that all change is good, and that change should never be resisted, a message that management would love employees to believe.

The reality is, not all change is good change. Companies have been destroyed because they made bad changes.
That remains me, I need to burn my copy :)

I think Walt's original plan / idea for WDW was to have room for expansion and for it to be always evolving.
I think changes are inevitable, always having a few new things etc is part of the excitement, however I hate to see classic rides get retired. I hate to see Norway gone but also think a frozen attraction is a great idea. I really don't like the idea of avatar at Disney period. It's not Disney to me. But if I had to choose a park for it it'd be HS. I think the next big gate should a kingdom of all the old retired attractions, shows, etc or atleast be a themed land.

That at least makes more sense than in Paris. The entrance to Adventureland has Aladdin stuff painted all over the walls...so you would expect the ride to be there, right?

Nope...it's in the other park, the studios park, right next to Crush's Coaster and across the way from a Cars ride.

Funny, I have a much bigger issue with seeing construction walls than theme continuation or the validity of a largely fantasy based ENTERTAINMENT company taking a little artistic license. Lol.

I'm beginning to believe I'm the only one somewhat excited about avatarland?
I didn't LOVE LOVE LOVE the movie. I enjoyed it. I think the original concept of the land drew my attention, it's something I've looked forward to.
I understand the hesitation towards frozen in in Epcot. But, the same could be said about caballeros correct? Cartoon birds were not in any Mexico I've ever been to. But it's also disney. The imagination involved is something we have all been captivated with at one time, correct? Its part of why i go there.
But again, I understand the hesitation towards some change. I think frozen in the, parks is a bit much... But, they are in business to make money, and frozen is paying the bills.

I think you touch on a good point that I totally agree with. Avatar is in the wrong park. And so is the Frozen ride. Avatar would be perfect for DHS, and Frozen would be better suited in MK. I get that Disney is going to wring every ounce of value they can out of Frozen, and a ride makes sense to them. But I feel it's crossing over the aesthetic and intent of WS to put it there.

I am just really having a hard time getting on board with Disney doing ANYTHING with Avatar to be honest. Yes it was a good movie...and made billions...but it came out 5 years ago and we won't see a sequel until December 2016. I just feel like it was a total knee jerk reaction to Potter at Universal. Like..."ok cool we got a big name movie thing to work with...now what?" I suppose I just think that given the recent acquisitions of Marvel and Star Wars, Avatar has lost a great deal of traction for me as something I want to see at WDW. If either of those come up in discussion, I am interested...if Avatar comes up, my first though is "Meh."

I understand your points. But when I come to WDW, I want to escape reality, not be immersed in it. I don't watch the TV, listen to talk radio, or read the newspaper. I will shut myself off from news about Ebola, ISIS, or any other negative news.

I can't do anything about the changes happening in WDW while I'm there, so I'll roll with it. Why make yourself miserable? There will be plenty of time for Monday Morning Quarterbacking on this blog after the trip where I'll critique along with everybody else.

The thing is I do believe it belongs in AK. The basis behind the movie was conservationism. Which is one of the reasons for AK. To teach people to save the animals and the environment. That's exaclty what Avatar was saying and exactly why it is going in AK.

  1. Avatarland is not a real place and doesn't belong in Animal Kingdom. Those are not real animals.

"Welcome to a kingdom of animals... real, ancient and imagined: a kingdom ruled by lions, dinosaurs and dragons; a kingdom of balance, harmony and survival; a kingdom we enter to share in the wonder, gaze at the beauty, thrill at the drama, and learn."
