I'm surprised nothing has been mentioned...YET! Even tho we haven't begun the 50th of Disneyland. Plus we already know about the Attractions that are new this year...But do you think there planning something? Technically we have a year to find out until October 1st 2006.

There seems to be a non-stop celebration, going straight on from the 25th Anniversary in 1996-97, then the Millenium Celebration in 1999-2000, then Walt Disney's 100 birthday in 2001-2002, and now the 50th Anniversary Celebration.
35 is not a big anniversary though, so maybe they'll save the big one for number 40, or Epcot's 25th.

I say they stop the gimmicks and just give us the substance...more quality attractions that are not marketed toward as a celebration gimmick!

Yeah, 35 isn't anything worth wild to go all out on. I expect something maybe for the 50th.

EPCOT we should see some press about when it turns 25.

They didn't make a big deal about 30th, so why they for the 35th. I'd say that there will definitely be one when Walt Disney World turns 50. I'm thinking they'll make somewhat of a fuss over Epcot's 25th.

Wouldn't it be great if WDW got shafted for its 50th celebration like Disneyland is for its? ^_^

Of COURSE there will be a huge snuffoo about WDW's 50th.

Walt Disney World will never get the shaft! It's the big money maker!

Well, they had a huge celebration when Disneyland turned 35, so I wouldn't put it past them.

They'll do something, we just don't know what.

(At least they'll do a pin. I hope.)

Not sure how many of you are old enough to remember, but WDW had a huge celebration for its 15th!

"Fifteen years, we're having a party!"

And they gave away 15 free trips on the Disney Channel. I remember wanting to win one soooooo bad.

Anyway, if a "new celebration" will bring new attractions, I am all for it. I remember the drought after the Millenium Celebration when we went with 2 new attractions over a long period of time.

Which, interestingly enough, is just about the time the 18-month long HCE will be ending. ;)

My guess is they will go all out for the 35th - a few people have noted that it's not an "important" anniversary, but Disneyland made a HUGE deal when they turned 35. Trust me, Disney will make a big deal about it.

Yes! And every 15th person (or something like that) into the park won a prize. I won a pin of Cindy's Castle with a big red 15 on it. And this was long before pin trading in the parks.

I just HAVE to comment on the Disneyland getting the shaft thing. Please do note that I'm not being negative, just wanting to point something out: while WDW is getting 2 new attractions and one tepid show, those folk who visit Disneyland are getting their park BACK!!! After the years of neglect from the Pressler/Harris era, that park is looking better than it has in more than a decade and is returning to what it used to be and always should have been. Plus the California locals got: an entire new park only a few years ago (California Adv qualifies as a park... heh heh), a new downtown Disney, a new hotel, this summer a new and probably the best Space Mountain, on May 5 will get what probably will be the best Disney fireworks show we have ever seen, a very cool new parade, already have a renovated and updated tiki room, an updated haunted mansion, an on May 5 an updated jungle cruise.... need I say more???? I would feel very happy if I were a CA local that someone has turned the boat around and headed it back into the right direction. I am eagerly anticipating a visit to Disneyland in the early fall for the first time since 1996. Matt Quimet and company are responsible for putting the magic back into that park, putting back the proper maintenance and upkeep, and putting the smiles back onto the faces of the entire cast.

Well said. I think this 50th celebration thing should have been left at DL.

Poor WDW looks like crap now. Looks like DL came in and craped all over the place.
