I couldn't think of a worse place for a park than Texas. Hotter then Fl, more desolate than the surface of the moon, and full of crazy texans. In addition it isn't close to major population centers or is a popular vacation destination (Fl worked because so many people vacationed in Miami, Palm Beach, Key West etc before Disney, but no one goes on vacation to Texas, it would be like going on vacation to South of the Border) VA hand would be a diffrent story, great rail infrastructure (assuming AmTrak doesn't Chapter 13) relatively close to DC, NY, Boston, Baltimore, only problem would be that it would be a seasonal park because of the weather, something I could not see Disney operating.

I've been to Texas twice for vacation. It would be the perfect spot for a Disney Park. Texas has 3 six flags, The Alamo. it's a great place to go.:)

Disney has such a good thing with WDW, great location, weather, everything... I think they know this and will not build another Disney Park inside the U.S.

All I ask for is a lousy ESPN Zone in Boston, jesus, come on, we got ESPN next door in Bristol CT, but we don't have an ESPN Zone in Boston, it's ridiculous.

There isn't even an ESPN Zone anywhere in Connecticut

I think we should get one before you guys to the north :D

I mean, we have the whole company, and we can't even get the resteraunt.

UMMM, we got the best sports fans in the world, Super Bowl Champions, the sox, and the Celts. And, we have a population. A Zone would Kill up here!

Only thing I could see is if they put one at either Foxwoods or Mohegan.

I don't understand, they put one in Atlanta??? But not one in the northeast, don't make sense.

Hi Hurricane...I'm one of those crazy Texans you were talking about. I live in Beaumont, Tx. I've been here all 35 years of my life and I've heard rumors of Disney buying land here my entire life. I don't expect anything to happen but you're reasoning makes no sense.

I couldn't think of a worse place for a park than Texas. Hotter then Fl, more desolate than the surface of the moon, and full of crazy texans. The weather here is EXACTLY like Fla. A little less rain maybe, but not much. Texas is a BIG state, and the eastern half is not at all desolate... quite the contrary, I live on the southern end of The Big Thicket, which is the biggest patch of woods I've ever seen. It streches from here almost to Dallas, or about 300 miles. Beaumont is 90 miles east of Houston. Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S. There are literally millions of people within 150 sq miles of my house. As far as touism goes, don't sell Texas short. We don't have the tourism Fla. does, but that's no crime, nobody else does either. The rail infrastructure here is fine too, as I can't see our gov't letting Amtrak go out of business. The Sunset Ltd stops in Beaumont 3 times a week. A new station would have to be built, but I don't see that as a major problem. As a side note, Disney came to China, Tx., which is 8 miles west for the video release of Mulan. They built a Mock-up of The Great Wall Of China, had a big fireworks show, and showed the movie. A few months later, they came back to Beaumont to donate a 24 foot high, dalmation spotted, working fire hydrant to the Fire Museum of Texas. This is the Official Disney press release:

The fire museum marching band will kick off the ceremony with the movie's signature song, "Cruella De Vil." During this charming number, 101 Texas firefighters will perform a hilarious dance, as they create a 101 formation around the fire hydrant. The performance will culminate with the fire hydrant showering the firefighters with water and confetti, as they take cover under their Dalmatian-spotted umbrellas, providing a spectacular aerial view. The ceremony will conclude with a complimentary screening of 101 DALMATIANS for the firefighters and their families.

Disney also donated a plaque dedicated to Beaumont firefighters. They might have come to China and Beaumont just for kicks, but I doubt it. Disney does'nt do anything just for kicks. I still don't believe they'll build here, but not for any of the reasons you stated. I think right now, Disney has enough on it's plate holding US/IOA at bay and finishing AK and adding more things at MGM, preferrably on the opposite side of the park from RnRC and TOT, to direct some of the traffic away from Sunset Blvd.

But I could be wrong.:D

Cheers:wave:

Disney Virginia

It would've been better to let Disney buy the land in Virginia, and do something historical with it-- even if it would be the "Disney history" that so many professional historians complained about. Now, they'll end up building houses and strip malls like they're building on so many other Civil and Revolutionary war sites and the land will be lost. I'd rather have Disney history (and rides) than another Dominoes pizza place.

I hope you were kidding when you made that crazy Texan crack...I happen to be a Texan and know the people here are extremely nice people...we are not crazy as you so rudely applied.

Hey Hurricane, what's your beef with Texas? I've been there plenty of times and it's a great state. Lots of great history and beautiful locations. Lots of great people too. Actually, I think every state has something to offer. Hurricane, you better play nice or I'm gonna E-mail your last post to George W.-haha

How about in Chicago!

Even though my opinion is slightly biosed because I live in Chicago, I feel the best place for a new disney theme park is in Chicago for a few reasons:

1) It is in the middle of the country and easily accesible from other large cities

2) Chicago itself is a huge city, and has other attractions (Six Flags Great America, Sears Tower, ect.)

But now that I think about it, there are also some reasons a new disney park shouldn't be placed in Chicago.

1) Chicago's climate sucks, and would only allow the park to be open part of the year. And besides, who wants to come to Chicago for inconsistent good weather? They are better off going to Florida or California

2) As many cities as there are close to Chicago, there is nothing west of it, and there are far more metropolitan areas close to Florida ofr California

3) The downfall of all disney parks could start with a new disney park bombing (as in extremely low attendence), like what almost happened with euro-disney ( DisneyLand Paris)

I feel that there will be no more large disney theme parks within the US

 first let me say I love your user name...

Second....we have talked about Disney in Chicago.....my Idea was to build a park in the Western burbs by Fermi Lab....or up North by the WI/IL State line......like by the Chain O' Lakes.....tons of land at both of the above:D

Glad to see a fellow Texan standing up for the Lone Star State! I have lived her all 23.9 years of my life and I like it. Big Pooh made some great points!

Also, Texas has plenty of major population centers. DFW and Houston are two major ones. DFW is home to American Airlines and the third busiest airport (source = Airwise News). Go Texas!

Hi again everyone...To MKingdom25 and LiverLips, thanks for standing up with me in defense of Texas.:animwink:

When Disney came here for the video releases of Mulan and 101 Dalmations, the area went crazy with rumors. I did'nt believe them then, and I don't believe them now. I've heard them all. Disney was buying land between Nome and Baytown right off I-10...Disney was buying land just east of Beaumont in Orange, County Tx, to go along with Orange, Co Cal and Florida, and various other rumors. All we've gotten so far is a Disney Store at the mall, and not a very big one at that. Apparently, Hurricane has either been to or seen pictures of West Texas. It becomes desert before you get to El Paso, But El Paso is a LONG LONG way from Beaumont. I live closer to Tallahassee, Fla than El Paso.

Actually, I like the rumors. I really enjoy talking to someone who really believes them. Hope is a wonderful thing.:) :animwink:

Hurricane...I ain't mad at ya:) Some people think we all still ride horses and do our bidness in an outhouse.:D Some of us do ride horses(I dearly love them), but now days we do it by choice, and not by necessity.:D

Cheers:wave:

PS...LiverLips, I dearly miss Jerry Garcia. Long live the Grateful Dead.

I forgot to thank Tot Fan. My apoligies.:) ToT is my second fave attraction at WDW. HM is #1 on my list.

I've been to Texas twice for vacation. It would be the perfect spot for a Disney Park. Texas has 3 six flags, The Alamo. it's a great place to go.

One of the 6 Flags parks, Astroworld in Houston, has really gone downhill. I went about 3 wks ago and I won't be going back. Let's just say one ticket will now get you into Astroworld and WaterWorld next door, I got $15 off the ticket and I still feel like I got ripped off. Fiesta Tx, on the other hand is a great park. Seaworld, the SA Zoo, Fiesta Texas and the Schlitterbahn Water Park makes for a good 4 or 5 day vacation in San Antonio. It's not a big thrill ride vacation, but SW and Fiesta Tx both have a couple of good thrill rides. If you're into the party scene, the River Walk will stand up against any party district I've been to, with the exception of Pleasure Island at WDW. And now back to our regular programming.... Sorry, did'nt mean to sound like a commercial.:animwink:
