Disney World Has Gotten Too Expensive

Knowing more about personal finance but support to keep raising the prices? That doesn't seem to gel. Are you betting the economy will collapse and plan to short the market to cash in? That's a way some made huge profits in the 2008/09 recession when they knew the sky was falling and bet the market would collapse which it did .
Of course it does. All depends on your personal situation. Disney could triple its prices, I'd get more enjoyment in going, and it wouldn't impact my situation...at all.

I made huge profits by buying when people were fearful, as usual.

Disney raising its prices wouldn't be a sign of the economy collapsing, FYI.

I'm all for responsible spending but imagine what would happen to business and the economy if people stopped using CCs and spending money on nonessentials. And I'm not advocating buying stuff you can't afford using CCs guys.

And Disney parks are supposed to be for everyone to enjoy not those who can pay double the price along with all the other nickel and diming. another example of separating the "haves" from the great unwashed.

Disney isn't expensive in comparison to other parks. I just came back from Universal. It's comparable. Disney is, however, expensive when you compare it to, say, a beach vacation.
Many people will disagree with me, but I canceled my Universal AP because it’s gotten too expensive. I just did not get my value out of the ticket for the prices they charge. I’m in the perfect target audience for Universal, but I just enjoy WDW far more for many reasons. I miss Volcano Bay, but not much else.

To me, the “value” really depends on what you want out of the experience. A UOAP was far too expensive for the value I got, while a WDWAP is priced accordingly for the value I receive from it.

I can understand that. If you're into coasters and thrills the Universal is right up there with SeaWorld. If you are into shows, characters, dining and dark rides Disney is better.

The reason ppl think Disney is too expensive is because they no longer get the satisfaction for what they've spent.

That's the problem. Ignore 'demand', Ignore 'inflation', etc. That's the fundamental Customer Satisfaction issue. If you can't afford something, but you love it, you do it less and still love it. (your favorite high end restaurant, etc). When something gets expensive but you don't feel the return is there for the spend.. that's when customers get frustrated.

The Disney fans that keep running into the wall over and over and can't figure out why their head hurts need to reset and try a different style of vacation and reset.. and remember what they used to love about vacations. Goto Discovery Cove and learn what it feels like to not be nickle and dimed left and right... or feel what crowd management used to feel like. Go somewhere with actual customer service where your room is turned down, and staff are aplenty.

We've been doing Vegas a little more, now that our WDW spending is suspended. It is a great place for shows, food, and even activities. Have you done the Grand Canyon Railway experience? Oooo, very fun. Well, if you like trains. They have a hotel on site, as it is a little far to come from and back to Vegas in a single day.

Come to think of it, I am headed there in May for a BDay party.
Even Vegas is getting crazy. Parking fees everywhere. $80 for a 6 oz filet. Resort fees everywhere. It’s getting crazy.

Not all true I'm afraid, i had friends price up 7 nights turkey all inclusive came to £8500.00 , that's crazy, i look at Disney as our annual big treat, it is getting harder, i see that the same holiday for 2025 is up £700, they need to add D.D.P to resort packages, lower G.P to say $10-15 a day max, or family ticket for 4 for $25 per day , they would still make a packet, I.L.L to be scrapped, packages to be taken and collected at the front of park, or resort drop packages to be bought back, Mr Iger is a penny pincher, the quicker he's gone the better, sorry, but i see him and the other 2 so called park executives unable to make decisions that would make park experience's better, Pandora and Battu are not enough. we love the parks, castmember's ,and guests, just give us fans more of what we deserve , Value!

Well said.

Opportunity costs for WDW are through the roof. You can do a lot with the $10k you were gonna drop on a 10 day to WDW.

I agree with your points, but I don't recommend going to a SeaWorld owned park to escape the feel of being nickel and dimed lol

SeaWorld is the worst offender at this. 5% surcharge, Popcorn Bucket refills are nearly the same price as a standard popcorn cup at WDW, $17.99 Chicken Tenders, etc.

We usually uber (uber/lyft prices are also pretty nuts), so no parking. Food prices on the strip are offensive. Worth the uber to go offstrip and get some great food for normal prices. The resort fees are ridiculous and offensive.

We used to go every 24 months on average, now we are down to every 48 on average. Just like WDW, Vegas is losing its charm.

Not at Discovery Cove...
