Does anyone have this software?

If so...

Is it good? Tell me about it.
What is the most recent version?
Would it help in planning a trip?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I ordered the WDW Explorer from CD Access earlier this year, and LOVE it! This is definitely worth your money for help planning a WDW trip. It's almost like visiting the park itself!

However, my CD-Rom was an old copy from 1997-98 that they had in stock, so I'm not sure if they still have any more left. Also, it was a bit dated; since some of the rides and attractions have since been replaced, and new ones have arrived along the way. Also, Animal Kingdom was not included on the Explorer, except an announcement that AK will open in 1998.

Here is a URL to their WDW Explorer page:

Hope this helps! :)

I bought the first WDW Explorer CD eight years ago when my (future at the time) stepson was six years old. When his mother told him we were taking him to WDW for his first time his response was, "I don't want to go, it's too far away."

So, I figured I had my work cut out for me and bought him the CD and the Birnbaum "WDW for Kids" book. The book has made it's rounds to family and friends with kids for their first trips and it still has places where my stepson highlighted rides he decided looked like fun. Needless to say, he is now a WDW nut.

Now eight years later, my two sons (3&4) both love to play on the CD and tell me about all the rides they are going to ride on our next trip. Of course, every now and then I have to let them know one of the rides is no longer there (like If you had Wings).

While the new DVD is great, I don't think it replaces the Explorer CD (yet), I wish Disney would come out with an updated version. We'd definately pick it up. :sohappy:

You know, there was a bug in the first version that lets you get the second one free. My aunt didn't even have the first version, i told her about the bug and how they sent me a free one, she called and said she had it, (you hafta describe the bug) and the sent her the updated version free! If anyone would like details let me know!

I also have both versions of The Walt Disney Explorer.

While it's true, they are outdated, when I need a Disney fix, I still get a charge out of watching them.

I enjoy the trivia game as well, and am always trying to beat my last score.

I should have all the hidden Mickey's memorized by now, but I don't, so l still get excited when I find one.

My only complaint is that they havn't came out with a newer version. I'm sure it would sell well..they all do.

The bad news is that when I ask the Disney people when they were coming out with an updated version, they keep telling me that it's not currently in the plans.

I hope that changes soon.

I believe that I have the first edition of the WDW Explorer (it's from 1996 and I think the second edition is from a few years later). I never knew there was a new version of it. I was wondering what the difference is between the two editions.
