I mean… this IS affordable housing on Disney property.I wish they build affordable housing for CMs on WDW property! There is plenty of land that could not be used as a park that can be used for CM housing.

"Walt Disney World will contribute approximately 80 acres of land in southwest Orange County, Florida, for the development, located west of State Road 429" Did I misunderstand this? It seems as though while yes, Disney will not own/manage this property, they are contributing land to it.If you read the article, Disney no longer owns the land and will not own the development.

Similar to how Flamingo Crossings Village was built, no?
I mean really we’re pulling hairs, this is being built on property that Disney owned and has donated to the development. It’s 3 mins from an entrance to the “WDW Property”From the Orlando Sentinel article:
"Tajiana Ancora-Brown, a Disney official, said the company donated the land and will not own the development."

Same. There is literally an entering the rcid sign at the edge of it.I know where the property is. I'm one of those Horizon West residents who will be affected by the development. I'm about 200 yards from the border of RCID on Hartzog.
What are those weird sand pits with the pipes for over there? The development is going on top of them it seems. What effect does removing them have. Sometimes they spew water.
I feel like this should be held until infrastructure is built up. We don't even have good cellular signal in waterleigh.
Same. There is literally an entering the rcid sign at the edge of it.
Haha I've been waiting for it to be replaced with the new organizations sign for months. If that sign disappears, it wasn't me.
The capacity can’t just be removed.Storm water. So the next time an Ian brushes us, RCID won't be able to flood its property to prevent Orlando flooding.
Haha I've been waiting for it to be replaced with the new organizations sign for months.
Where is all that storm water going if it's not going there and how does it even get there? It seems so
Isolated. I wasn't able to go either. People are worried about the new surf park near scofield lacking infrastructure. This is far worse.
The idea is admirable but they should have put it near flamingo and the college village. It's still wrong to rush it when there is no infrastructure. I mean how long did it take to get a gas station at the mark? Is one really enough? The other businesses haven't opened in publix lot and don't seem to be showing any progress plus there are the new towers going up behind it. Those will put even more burden on schools.
The capacity can’t just be removed.
The seven eleven gas just opened near the Huey mcgoos/new York beer project/starbucks on Seidel. I'm not even sure if it's officially open.
I can't believe how slow that daycare has been going too. New independence far for development like this.
And Disney can claim a deduction. I'm not understanding how this is bad as some seem to frame it, they did a good thing as a corporationFrom the Orlando Sentinel article:
"Tajiana Ancora-Brown, a Disney official, said the company donated the land and will not own the development."
However, the next paragraph is
“The Michaels Organization will build, own and operate this development. Disney won’t profit from it,” Ancora-Brown said. “We plan to set a 75-year lease on the land to ensure affordable housing remains available to Orange County residents on this property for decades to come.”
The idea of the housing is good. The location is a huge problem because the areas infrastructure is wildly underprepared for this many units in an area that already probably has too many to start with. And Disney can claim a deduction.
