Okay... I feel a burn coming on with posting of this thread, Here goes...

I don't see where any talk about the resort-exclusive theme park dvds have been discussed. I was thinking of purchasing from eBay and wanted to hear some feed back. What do you think? A hundred bucks is a bit pricy for a dvd - is it worth it?

I have only seen the Epcot one, and I wasn't terribly impressed. There were some nice fun facts about the park and nice views of some of the attractions, etc., but I thought the format seemed a little juvenile.

And it says it's a "Happiest Celebration on Earth" set and there was no mention of Soarin' at all.

Which ones are you talking about? Relive The Magic's DVD set???

Gee... you know more than I do. What I know is that these are apparently only available on Disney resort properties or parks. There is one for each kingdom. I thought about getting these when on vacation, almost a year ago, but had doubts. Don't get me wrong - I love Disney and my wife and I talk about it all the time. Just thought $100 was a bit much to spend at that time; now that I seriously miss not being there, would gladly pay near anything to go back. For that matter, when I turn on the TV in the morning or at night, I tune to the Travel Channel to see if they're airing any Disney spots.
Kinda sad, huh... boy! I need a life!:hammer:

I have them. They are pretty cheesy but I don't regret buying them. They have some good shots of the parks and are fun to watch to get excited for an upcoming trip.

The Magic Kingdom one is really good, the one from MGM is terrible, it's one of those things that is so frustrating to watch because it is so stupid. I had it on in the backround when I first bought it and then watched it again before we were leaving for the parks, it was so bad I had to shut it off after 10 minutes and that's my favorite park too. Epcot one's okay. They're about $20 each at the hotels so if it makes you feel any better you really didn't get ripped off or anything.

They are not the best things in the world, but they aren't HORRIBLY awful either. Some decent shots of the parks and such...but the main part of the DVD's are only about half an hour while th extras are close to 90 minutes.

I bought the 5 DVD box set that includes the four parks at WDW and the DIsneland one as well. They are $20 a piece, but $80 in the boxset, so it's like getting one free...and I bought it at WOD.

There's actually a guy on the internet...he has his own site and sells on Ebay too. He sells a 20 DVD set of WDW and it's not as good a quality as the official DVD's of course, it is a handheld video cam, but it's still very good. And at 40-45 bucks, it was worth it. My sister, my parents, and I all bought copies.

It's amazing what is on some of the DVD's...Horizons in full, World of Motion in full, the original Journey, Spectro, Mansion in full, and a lot more...and on most of the DVD's he drowns out crowd and people noise and all you hear is the attractions themselves. I think I can find the link if anyone is interested, just shoot me a PM and let me know.

*points to the DC Torrents site and also to Martin's videos* - all free :)

Also, to get a schedule of upcoming shows about Disney, I goto http://tv.yahoo.com, and search for 'Disney' using my provider (DirecTV). Try it, it's quite nice. :)

They can't be any worse than the Disneyland Paris one.

Imagine the worst planning video ever, times the cheese factor by 10, add a badly dubbed English soundtrack and the ripped off feeling you get after spending 20 euros on junk.

The only good thing about it is the Electrical Light Parade documentary that is on it.

^ The MSEP extra made it worhtwhile. Just

Mind you, the DVD was better than the `02 VHS. I found the inroom loop on TV better than both.

HauntedPirate - I Thank you!

Oh goodness! That sounds dreadful!

On the subject of DVD...has anyone else seen the current WDW Happiest Celebration on Earth Vacation planning DVD? Absolutely TERRIBLE! So many thing wrong/poorly done/sometimes in downright bad taste. If I were someone with mild curiosity about WDW and this was what I saw telling me to go, I'd run in the opposite direction as fast as I could...because the bonus feature about the Happiest Homecoming at Disneyland is infinitely better.

Are these DVDs the same as the ones released a couple of years ago? I have those, but wanted "updated" dvds. Basically (if this helps) there was a guy that was bald with glasses named Dr. Sci N. Tific (pardon the spelling) on the epcot one, and the Magic Kingdom was narrated by Mickey and Minnie (to the best of my recollection). Anyway, thanks for the help.

The Walt Disney Parks and Resorts 5-DVD set is definitely not the greatest thing. Professor Sci-n-tific on the Epcot DVD is one of the most annoying hosts I've ever seen. I like the MK DVD and the remaining ones are blah at best. However they have been enjoyable during one of those Disney cravings I get every now and again - just seeing the parks and having some of the extras makes it worth the money.

If $80.00 is not a big deal to you then I would recommend them, If your having trouble deciding to buy them due to the price then I would not recommend them. That's the best advice I can give on the set.
