Because Disney now is asking for BLOOD MONEY and they want to squeeze the last dime out of me and YOU.. They had a bad year and now its time , that THEY WANT IT ALL BACK MANY TIMES OVER. and then they are going TO TELL ME TO SHOVE OFF.. because I don't qualify to go to their establishment any more.. WHY .. because I don't have enough money to go there.. WALT AND HIS IDEAS ARE DEAD.. and NOW ITS GREEDSVILLE ...until they find out that the poor schmuck like me . Kept the doors open.. that my minimal spending really got us from a orange grove and a swamp to HERE TODAY.. that all of us collectively , bought in and paid out.. and now we are NO LONGER NEEDED OR ACCORDING TO THE BEAN COUNTERS WANTED>

Seriously though the OP didn't sound like they were joking. They are actually very angry and saddened that so many people have now been left out of what for years was a must do for us. I can no longer justify going financially. Even though I had managed to put some money away over the years, the high cost of actually living has made it so I am afraid of spending that much money anymore on an experience that is no longer the fun and adventure that it once was, period.

Make fun of that if you like, it doesn't change anything. The place that I used to happily anticipate going to for 38 years is no longer affordable. The place that I once used to daydream about, isn't even a slight desire anymore. The place that had me hooked enough to be part of a local group that met in Mall food courts and even Disney Stores, to just sit around and talk about our experiences as Disney Fans. The place that I used to spend time trying to figure out a way to be connected with to the point where I took classes in travel agency work put on by Accent Travel. The place that made me think about doing seminars on just WDW trips and promoting them to people that still thought "it was just for kids", has died just like so many of my other friends have. It is depressing to know that your one indisputable escape is no longer available to you. So for those of you that think that this particular emotion is something to make jokes about, well I hope you enjoy getting fleeced, you are now going to have to supply all the money that us little guys once spent. You know you can do the parks without GENIE + right? It's a voluntary offering not mandatory. you can still go to the parks. people did the parks for decades with no fastpasses

I empathize with your frustration.. but how about keep your memorabilia? It represents what Disney used to be and what meant to you and will always be when it’s under good management. Don’t let current management’s decisions ruin that love for you. There are other ways to enjoy Disney and not support the current folks in charge. Chapek & co. won’t last forever.. it’ll change back or get to a place that’s much closer to the values Walt put in place eventually. Keep the faith. 🙏🏻

It isn't that we wouldn't love to still be able to buy in, it is because we, after spending years living on the edge of the envelope to go to our favorite place in the world are now priced out. Why? Because we might have had some negatives in our lives that prevented us from obtaining wealth. We the people that originally made WDW what it is are now not wanted or needed, so like trash we are just cast aside. Do they know me personally, of course not, but it doesn't matter when you are left out of something you were once totally absorbed in very actively.

And while this would qualify you to be an excellent moderator over at the Disboards, here we know it's not reasonable to expect everyone to like 100% of what's going on at the parks. There are a lot of big changes unfolding lately, and not everyone who is passionate about Disney will be quickly on board with those changes. I want to hear their voice too, and sometimes I agree with their frustrations.

I sometimes wonder how different things might be if Walt hadn’t been a chain smoker, or if cryonics would have actually been viable at the time…? 🤔

Walt grew up in the day where many smoked . At DHS years ago at One Mans Dream attraction there was an exact replica of his CA office. I counted at least 5 cigarette ashtrays in the replica all throughout his office.

Yes, I know.
He starred smoking when he dropped out of high school at age 16 and joined the Red Cross (because the Army wouldn’t accept him at that age) to be an ambulance driver in France for a year at the end of WWI.

Remember no matter what Disney does, they can’t take way all the wonderful memories that I am sure we have all made over the years. The first time my family and myself was July 2001 (I didn’t know any thing and we were taken for a ride money for that 4 day trip). But my nephew who was 8 at the time (still to this day) he will say it was the best vacation he ever had. Just to see how happy he was for that and many vacations after it all of it money included it’s priceless. He would smile from ear to ear! Am I unhappy about this, yes I am. But what am I going to about it nothing.
Hopefully we will be able to down like we have every year maybe less days.
Only time will tell.

Not to soon, perhaps to late. Even without the smoking his age right now would be 120. Chances are he would have already been past (pardon the pun) his active years.

Thats about the most northern thing I've seen in quite a while. Its not gruel, its course ground dent corn that's been de-germinated usually by nixtamalization (thats an alkali bath) so it's shelf-stable, Its cooked until its done, not until it turns to goo. Butter, salt and sometimes cheese are normal. We dont eat cream of wheat down here.

Oh yes, well aware of what his age would have been by now, but, what if he would have lived at least another 20 years…?
Fortunately, one of his closest colleagues, Imagineer John Hench, lived until he was 95, and had much involvement in TWDC over a lot of years after Walt passed, but, he was not Walt. Although I definitely don’t lose sleep over it, the 20-ish extra years Walt might have lived just always makes me wonder… 🤔
