Disney workers to protest contract talks

You missed the "...and the auto manufacturer continued to pay exorbitant bonuses to their Managers and show massive profits" part of your little story.

Unfortunately, that is part of every corporate story. We were bailing out Detroit while they were using private corporate jets. Once we, the "normal working" public, realize that management and corporate executives are not there to help us succeed, everyone will have a better handle on our flawed corporate system. Of course, if we had been talking about this in the 50's, we would have been labeled Communists. Today, the go-to label for anyone who thinks its ethically wrong for corporate heads to take more at the expense of the workers is just a Socialist.

I am not saying that I don't feel bad for these individuals, but I am pretty confident Disney will not budge. It is what it is. For me personally, if I was that upset that I was prepared to strike, I would be spending that time looking for a new job.

Uh, no. We have a marginal tax system. As you enter the next tax bracket, only the income above the limit of the first bracket is taxed at the higher rate.

But my point was that - when taxes were raised (which they were last year or the year before), they took a larger chunck, so it was like not even geting a raise. Same as with the increasing cost of health care..... just sayin'.

Ummmm...taxes (income taxes, anyway) have gone down since Obama's been in office.

Seriously...why are we debating taxes? Higher tax brackets have not seen taxes go down. Hence, the "spread the wealth" argument. Now back to the original thread topic.. :sohappy:

Union's destroyed the American steel, garment, and auto industries by taking millions of jobs out of the country due to union's not budging.

Florida is currently at 12% unemployment.

Now how do you think Disney is going to handle this situation?

Jimmy Thick- It's so eeeeeeeeasy...

just throwing this out there... part of the offer was a $500+$100 bonus if accepted the first try, PLUS the ability to earn an additional $300-(health-care based) bonus.

So 2-4% raise, plus up to $900.00 in bonus money... everyone seems to keep leaving those out.

I would be MORE than happy to take that in my position, especially if I were in a frontline job (not to be confused with a career).

Just my 2 cents (which is less than 2-4% plus up to a 900 buck bonus ;) ).

So wait...if the unions push back too hard, Disney will just close down all the parks and...outsource them to India? Or something?

Was that supposed to be one of the morals of the story here? :veryconfu
