We went in February with an 11 month-old. We rode everything that did not have a hieght requirement. We have 4 children, so when we went to rides that had hieght requirements, we just did a child swap.

One thing I would suggest would be to go back to the hotel around noon or 1:00 in order to get some rest. I think a lot of people suggest this and it does work.

Another thing that we found through the years that works is to bring alternative modes of carrying your child. If you are driving and are going to stay for 4 or more days, I would bring both a stroller and a child-carrying backpack. Being in a stroller all day tends to wear the child down and by the 3rd or 4th day they hate being in the stroller. By using the backpack it gives the baby something new and our children have really enjoyed alternating between the two on various days. A backpack is a lot better than actually carrying a baby around. It gets old fast.

The last is like with most children, work around their schedule. Either start changing their schedule at home in advance or stick to their schedule when you get there. Don't try to change it on vacation. It will frustrate them to no end.

Have fun.

i agree with disney hog.. kimda work your way around their schedule. If they seem like their getting kinda fussy ( fussy in the way you know thats gonna be fixed with a good nap ) go back to the room everyone take a breather, have hubby take the 4 year old in the pool so she / he still enjoying disney then afterwards go back to the park. when we went down the first time with our first child she was turning 1 in disney we basiclly did our normal rountine but witha little modification, we went to the parks early to get a headstart, alot of times she would just fall asleep in her stroller and we would do a baby swap. or to get her to take a nap or bottle take a ride on small world or that transsit authority ride any ride thats long.. at nite we played it by ear , with the parades we just went along andd most of the time either she fell asleep or watched the fireworks.. its all what you make of it .. when in disney we did'nt exactly have a set bedtime for her so if she went to bed late one nite she slept in the next day ( which was wonderful for us too!) we'll be going with her for the 4 th time with her sister who will be 1 in november so we'll probably do all the same things we did when our first was a baby.. your gonna have a great time remember its al what you make of it...

Yes, what those two said. It'll be great. That age, 9, 10 months, that was always my favorite. They are REALLY starting to interact with you, but are (usually) still to small to be walking and making you chase them!  I've been when my kids were 6 months, 9 months, and 18 months, never had any trouble. Just make sure to give her the rest she needs. Have fun! I'm so jealous! :sohappy:

We took our DD for her 1st time when she was almost 9 months old. We stayed at Poly and had this great stroller by Instep, that also was a backpack stroller, she loved it. Disney is really good for families and babies, I was surprized at how many other babies we saw. Enjoy the baby care sations, but they can be a far way to truck.

As far as rides go the baby can go on almost anything the 4 year old can (as long as we are talking about a not to tall 4 year old:lol: ) Not goffys barnstomer or anything like that, but all other dark rides at MK. At that age they can even be easier then 2 or older when they know to be scared of snow white or pirates.
To make myself feel better I straped her into a side carrier the 1st couple of times, but it was not problem. Many rides can handle 2 parents and 2 small ones too. Babies love IASW! I am disapointed ours won't be able to see it on her 1st trip since it will be close for rehab then. TTA is a great slow down and relax ride, both your 4 year old and baby will like it (and it might put the baby to sleep, often you can ride 2 or 3 times in a row with out getting off if you want.

Our DD 1st ride was Dumbo, she loved it. Now it is a tradtion, always the 1st ride every trip. She is looking forward to our next trip March 2005 when we will have a almost 4 year old and a 6 month old baby (who is currenlty still inside me!)

We are heading to Vero Beach in 5 days, but don't plan on doing WDW, but who knows we might end up there! Have a great trip, take LOTS of pictures.

We have gone with our DD #1 when she was 11 months, 2 years and almost 3 years. Now the 3 years trip also had a DD #2 at six months. The younger the better I say. They enjoy all the sights and sounds. They only really complain when they are tired or hungry. With a stroller the tired part was really easy to take care of. One tip - don't plan much of anything. They don't understand plans and pretty much ignore them :)

Expect favorite attractions to be Cinderella's Carousel, Dumbo, IASW (oops - rehab) and all the transportation: Parking lot trams, Monorails, Steam Train, TTA. Just what you want to do, right? Oh, if she is walking, don't forget the Toontown houses. Those are perfect for little walkers.

Thanks for the great info.... our DD will be 14 months on her first trip in September.

We have an added bonus though, I have a MIL and FIL to watcher her while we ride & go back to the hotel with her, so DW and I can play too.....:sohappy:

So are you ready for #5? :D

Take naps.

Depending on where you stay, you might want to request a 1st floor room. Caribbean Beach and most Riverside buildings don't have elevators.

Are you going to get a crib? If so, take some of her familiar sheets, blankets, etc. Better than just using towels and Disney blankets.

For shows, try sitting on the end. So if she starts crying, you can easily leave as not to disturb others.
