Disney Wish

Honestly, I don't think we do that here. The forum has been pretty slow for a while now, but back when there were lots of people checking us out, we had a lot of conversations about "Is DCL really worth it?" and we still a few people who hang out here who will tell you that they prefer Celebrity for a more adult experience for a lower price. And most of us totally get that perspective, even though we're DCL addicts.

I'm not sure that I do. I'm sorry, but I have no idea what it means for DCL, etc to be your slow jam. I'm so old! :( I do understand that there are people who think that Disney is the best at everything and will never say that they did something wrong. But I don't think you'll find too many of those people here.
Many fans of Disney have the blinders on...letting the idea of their brand override the value of the products attached.

There are people here...and a large number on every sailing that shout “Disney cruise line is the best!!!!” Without ever setting foot on another ship.

That cannot be valid. Many ardent defenders of wdw do the same.

I get it...it makes them happy and it’s comfortable. But they also shout down dissenters without knowledge or perspective to back it up.

You are clearly NOT that...and I value your perspective. That’s kinda why I asked “ok...state your case?” In the first place. You did...I accept your perspective even if I don’t agree. And that ok. We can talk and not have to love OR hate each other, ya know?

Whoa, whoa, whoa. You said
I never said carnival or Norwegian because I don’t consider them to be Disney’s competitors.

Royal and celebrity I do...and that’s where DCL is a harder sell.

DCL staff is great...but royals is close outside of kids clubs that you need for maybe 10 years?

And even if you think Disney’s staff is better (it’s not...they get paid the same and come from the same hiring pools as all the others - just like wdw staff comes from the same pools as UOR’s and can often be actually less skilled/qualified)...royals new ships offer way more dining and entertainment than Disney can due to their smaller/older ships.

Royal has also embarked on a far more aggressive rehab program of late...check out what they’re doing to their explorer class and older oasis ships.

Have you ever been to a Wonderland on a RCCL ship? It makes Remy look like...well...rat food. And can be had at a fraction of the cost.

I recommend RCCL because of my recent experiences in comparison to DCL because they are moving forward at a faster clip as it stands. I’ll check out a new DCL ship when the time comes.

When 2022 rolls around and this ship hits the water do you think it will move the prices of the other ships down at all?

I do not...because their capacity won’t increase that much. The reason Disney keeps prices high is they have much fewer berths to fill. Others have 15-30 ships. They have 4.

That won’t really be determined until all 3 roll out.

Plus...those high cost 3 and 4 nighters that basically barely leave Florida bottleneck demand into the decent itineraries.

Don’t get me wrong...they are run well from a business perspective.

But the fact they make you pay Disney a la cartel pricing still makes it seem self serving, doesn’t it?
I disagree. I love that they don't have a drink package. It's a nice change of pace from the guys and gals that are drunk by noon because they just gotta get their $60 a day worth. Also drinks are far more reasonably priced on DCL compared to say Royal Caribbean

But those are 2 different things...royal drink prices are higher because of the drink packages...

DCL can price some type of package higher and is in very little danger of launching a “booze cruise”

Actually I hate the royal Caribbean packages...too much. But they do a 10/$100 card on every cruise that fits the niche nicely.

Disney doesn’t bother trying

I agree that Wonderland is great but I was sad when Anthem made all the regular restaurants have the same menu. I loved booking the Asian one night and the steakhousish one the next. I understand logistics it was a mess but still cool
We sailed when they had it and later when they didn't...unfortunately that first sailing almost sank lol

They just market to a different client's that's ok. What works for a couple or single cuiser is different for a family. Plus I always have the wife and I pack 2 bottles a piece to bring on board and maybe pick something up in port as well.

The main room thing has been weird. They haven’t figured out what to do yet.

I actually think the old “grand dining room” still works the best. Something “neat” about it.

We actually do the dining package as our “main dining” and then use the default as a change of pace. The food experience is great...near celebrity, way better than that whatever they claim to be “signature” scallops in animators palette...or whatever it’s called.

Funny thing...my son adores the DCL kids clubs, but my daughter preferred the Royal one. She liked that Royal had more of a set structure where the kids had an ongoing activity as opposed to DCL where the kids are sorta put in and allowed to do whatever they feel like.
And when they don’t need those clubs...hint, hint...they’re gonna be positively bored.

Think watching descendants 5 in the theater will be the right way to wind down doing absolutely nothing in Nassau?

(That’s a JOKE...sorta...call off the dogs)

They need more classes going on, that is for sure. You have admit it's nice to not be sold all the crap watches and clothes thatconstantly that fills up the atriums on other lines.

I think this conversation is getting away from "Disney Wish."

Agreed.

So what excites me a lot about the Disney Wish is that my wife and my daughter and I will be exploring it together for the first time. We're going on our first cruise together next year on the Fantasy, but we've been on that (although not with a kid). But the Wish will be brand new to all three of us, so we'll get to explore and discover it all together!

I'm wondering what the Atrium statue will be. I could see either Jiminy Cricket or Cinderella, since they both have songs about wishes. Heck, so does Snow White! So really any of those three would work. I'd love a Snow White statue, since she's the princess who started it all.

So who else is going to aim for the inaugural sailing? And what restaurants would people like to see?

@Jonathan Dalecki

Maybe if Jiminy doesn't get the Lobby Statue he will get the 3rd restaurant. Perhaps a Pinocchio theme? A mix of German and Italian
food.

Or perhaps Moana with a Polynesian style.

I also hope they don't do Royal Court/Palace again. That is boring.

Animator's Palate is a must.

I'm glad they are modifying the atrium staircase. It always bugged me that the staircase only went up to the second floor, despite the 3 floor atrium.

Although gorgeous I think I'll prefer ship 6 or 7's atrium over this one. Much like how I prefer the Dream's over the Fantasy's. It's a bit too feminine for my tastes.

I just noticed the chandelier is all stars. "When you wish upon a star..." My money is on Jiminy Cricket.

I feel like these ships will be very deluxe in offerings of jewelry and recharge services and restaurants. Disney know they are sitting on a gold mine with the ships and a captive audience.

I really hope there is some true disney innovations on the ship. Someone mentioned more activities... we did a transatlantic this year and they had some great extra activities I'd love to see on other cruises. More seminars and activities with the ships dance captains. I never understand why there arent disney lectures and opportunities to do dance classes or singing classes with the main stage
