Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

I was able to register for both the half marathon and the jingle jungle 5k. This will be my first time running a race and I'm excited that it's in my favorite place in the world! I was shocked at how quickly the race sold out. Since I've never done this before, can I now call the IRun number to book my room/get park tickets at the discounted rate?

Very sad. I have been waiting to sign up for this race for the first time with my girlfriend. Unfortunately, I work without internet access often so I could not sign up. In the past, it did not sell out like this or I would have just taken a half day.

What are my options? I know I can't buy a bib, the travel agents look like they would charge a huge markup, so that leaves only charity? I give to charity but not great with fundraising.

I've been running in Disney races since 2006, and other than the 2015 WDW Half, I can't remember an event selling out so quickly. In the past I've signed up for Disney events almost up until a month or two prior, but I guess that I'll need to plan on making sure I sign up when registration opens from now on if I want a bib.

I'm lucky that I was able to get in for this, even with having to wait for 20 minutes before being able to access the site. I really feel bad for the people that weren't able to sign up because of IT issues. This is my fist W&D and definitely looking forward to it.
The Star Wars half sold out in under 40 minutes as well. Pretty crazy...

In 2012 I registered for the Princess in November, it had been on sale for 4-5 months at that point. It seems like that is no longer the norm. We all need to be type A super planners with fast and reliable internet to get an entry nowadays it seems.

Try checking with some of the travel agents. They don't necessarily have a huge markup, but you will end up paying closer to rack rates and probably cannot get any discounts. For instance, one has $210 for bib w/all fees included, $125 per night Pop, and $239 for a 3 day ticket. Standard room at Pop lists at $134 for Nov 6/7 and $275 for 3 day ticket. So room is below rack, and ticket is the discounted sports ticket, and bib looks about the same when you factor in the fees active charges. However, several of the agents are already saying they have sold all their bibs, so start calling them now, leave messages if not open, and then call back later or even they will be sold out.

In cases like this, the travel agents are agreeing to buy a block of rooms from Disney at a discounted rate. Since Disney is essentially booking 10, 20, 30+ rooms at once, they will let the TAs have them at a decent savings off of book, allowing the TAs to make their money that way, instead of overcharging for the package.

Even most of the charities have sold out of their bibs, so if you want to try to do either, do it ASAP.

Do they ever open up more spaces for the race or do people sell their spot?

My DGF was really hoping to do the race and this was going to be her "Disney Side" and get her excited about a trip. this was really disappointing.

They typically don't open new entries. I think they added some Goofy entries last Marathon weekend.

I'm sure people sell entries but this is against the rules and anyone who gets caught may get escorted out with a perma-ban.

I tried the charities. All seem to be gone. I should have done that in the first place just to give back.

If I go, then I would be going for my standard 7-day trip staying at either Wilderness Lodge or Polynesian. It looks like it be significantly more expensive than the 30% off I will most likely get through a Disney Visa discount. So as bad as I'd like to do it, the added expense tells me to plan better next year.

Has anyone been able to book a DVD through a rental company (we usually use David's vacation club)? My husband and I plan on running in 2016, and while this is just for planning purposes, since the race sold out so quickly, I think it would probably be best to wait and make sure we can register before paying for a non refundable hotel reservation, but the 3rd party companies usually recommend 11 months out, so I'm also worried we'd get in for wine and Dine and all the dvc's will already be gone

Anyone seen a proof of time link yet??

I am bummed. Got a room at FQ because all at YC/BC/BWI are full price as of now, they didn't even have any bounceback availability yet. Will try again in May.

Hi Everyone, I am new to the forums and this will be my first RunDisney event (and first half marathon!) My group and I are staying at PORS and I am looking at dining reservations for our stay. I need some advice or recommendations on where to eat lunch & dinner on race day from anyone who has done the wine & dine half before. We are looking for something healthy and nothing too pricey. We may have a car and would be open to off-site recommendations too. Thanks :)

Welcome! You picked a good race to start. The point is to have fun and not PR (my opinion).

Jeff Galloway has some good tips on eating for a night race. You can probably find it on runDisney.com or Jeff's site, jeffgalloway.com. Some like to go find pasta (Italy in Epcot for example) but I think that's overrated. But everyone is different.

Eat what you know won't mess up your stomach. Timing is what's important. I think the rule of thumb is you're running on what you ate yesterday. Stop eating around 5-6 PM and hydrate. It will be humid.
