How’s your training going??? I am having a good time. I opted for two short runs during the week and a longer Saturday run. And I’m proud bc I’m even doing it in all the rain!

Training in south Florida has been brutal. Been so hot and humid that I can’t tell if my breathing is completely out of wack or the weather is just impacting me that much.
So I’ve been LOUD about loving to run in the heat and hot weather. I am now 40yo and that has all changed!!!

Low humidity and a nice 60-70 is wonderful! Training this past summer was miserable it was so humid but I’m loving it now. NJ coast.

Event Guide and maps are up (or have leaked!)

Appears the Half only goes through two parks, lots of road time! 😲 [Used to start at TTC and run through AK to HS to Epcot]

I’m watching to see what the course looks like this year. If it’s anything like last year’s, I’ll pass on 2024 until they start prioritizing runners instead of park goers on race day.

Just checking in, looks like the "What did you do today" thread is dead.

Long update...

So I am in week three of training. Doing an alternate plan until I can build up mileage for Higdon's Dopey plan.

It snuck up on me this year. The longest run I had done since January was 4 miles, I think.

So, I purposely did not look up the training plan. I am running 3 miles every day, except weekends where I am doing the extended mileage. So the first week ended with a 4 and 8. Second week was 5 miles and 10 miles. This week I did 5 and 12 miles.

I think I am ready to go into Higdon's Dopey plan this week, which is a step back week. Next week 5 and 15 :)

I am running about 10 minute miles these days.

Booked All-Star Sports and we are leaving day after as opposed to years past where we stayed another day or two. Because we are also "Perfect Dumbo's", we decided to put our money into DL Hotel. We waited a little to late and are having to stay at a good neighbor hotel first two nights. But we did get a DL Hotel room for last two nights.

With two kids in college, DW and I know we can't keep both Perfect statuses. Hard choice but I really do think I am over the marathon. I have horrble FOMO so it maybe that we just make Dumbo our race from now on. We will see.
