Your WDWMagic WineDine meet up!!

Great photo!

Sorry I missed the meetup last night and the party, but I have a good excuse. I've got the Disney crud (and so does my daughter). ☹️

Chatted with @DznyGrlSD for a bit, desperately needed a nape....and the next thing I knew it was 11:00 PM. Slept through the 7PM alarm I'd set on my phone. Woke up in my clothes and still wearing my magicband, lol.

Rolled over and went to sleep. Woke up around 7:00 AM this morning with that feeling. You know, the one that tells you you're getting sick. Made myself of cup of tea and some oatmeal (and yes, I still have my sense of smell and taste) and crawled back into bed. Just woke up.

So it will be a stay in my room kind of day, which is sad, because it's Medal Monday. Fortunately I've got soup and tea and plenty of food in the fridge.

Probably good I didn't see y'all last night, wouldn't have wanted to pass my bug to anyone. I blame the wet and cold. 😉

Hope y'all had fun. January will be here quickly.

So sorry to hear that! I hope with some rest, you’ll be feeling better very soon.

Congrats! Great Job!! What were the temperatures like?
The race was a chilly start in the corral- I wore a cheap throwaway sweatshirt with a hotel towel wrapped around my waist to cover my legs because I was in shorts. It was not cold, but it was chilly.

As much as I love the heat, it was excellent running weather. I actually kept my throwaway sweatshirt on MUCH longer than I expected, having ditched it after leaving MGM around mile 11. It was windy and I felt that wind upon finishing!!!

Sorry if I missed a discussion on this, but were there any changes to water stations?

Most 10k to 13.1 races I have run lately have encouraged people to bring their own refreshments and have reduced water stations replacing cups with sealed plastic bottles.

Trying to plan ahead for marathon in January

Exactly the same as pre-COVID, and I only saw some volunteers wearing masks, if that helps with your planning. I carried my own hydration, so I ran through the water stations, but the standard cups of PowerAde and water were available.

Saw one girl stacking the yet-to-be-filled cups to make a giant pyramid - not sure how hygienic that is, but oh well! 😂

Fellow virtual runners they just sent out a email reminding those to get their finisher certificate. They also mentioned “Your medals and shirts will be arriving soon, and they’re a great way to show off your accomplishment”. So keep an eye out for your medals and shirts.

It doesn’t appear that I have a label or anything printed, but won’t know for sure unless I see the tracking. I also assume this went out to all virtual runners but won’t know for sure since I only ran the virtual 10K this time around.

OK, I was in the very first s1 wave for the 5K, just made it inside the first rope, and s3 for the others. S3, really? :grumpy: It did move fast, I think I was off about 0530 for each s3. Too many walkers and my times weren't great. But it was great to be back!

Waves and starting fireworks were still going off when I finished the 5K. Then bought a poncho and braved AK. Good thing I brought two pairs of shoes. After lunch got a pretzel and coke. CM handed me the goods and didn't tell me how much. I said, I haven't paid and she waved and said "No charge, have a magical day." :) Stayed off my feet after the 10K and hit the ASM food court. I love the All Star food courts, especially during a race weekend.

Disappointed that SSE wasn't lit up for the 5K but it was for the 10K. Awesome.

The half weather was perfect (for me) but still too many walkers and too many to pass from s3. I didn't stop but there were a bunch of characters. Near McDonald's there was a guy with a Pizza Planet shirt and a pizza box. I don't know if he was an official 'character' but he was walking toward the runners and didn't have race clothing or a bib. Everyone loved that. And great to see Sarge again.

Always the best part of this race, heading back to ASM on the bus and seeing runners still pouring into the back of DHS. Thought I saw the balloon ladies there. Went right to the food court, clanking all the way, and got the world famous Bounty Platter. Got cleaned up, did some Epcot F&W booths until I couldn't walk anymore and hit the sack by 1800. No party for me, had to go to DHS the next morning. I did get to ride Remy. What a mess.

Thanks to all the CMs and volunteers for putting up with us and the weather. Great job!

What an amazing experience!

I feel so bad for the person next to me at the finish line. I look like I've murdered a bunch of people! I didn't realize I was such an un-photogenic runner!

My picture is making the rounds with my friend and work group, and I'm being properly ribbed lol.

This experience / training was amazing, and I can't wait to do it again! (My wallet can though)
