A runner collapsed and passed away after the 5K on Friday. My thoughts and prayers are with his family - what an absolutely terrible thing to happen during what we all hope to be such a celebratory weekend.

A runner collapsed and passed away after the 5K on Friday. My thoughts and prayers are with his family - what an absolutely terrible thing to happen during what we all hope to be such a celebratory weekend.

I saw reports of CPR on a Facebook. A lot of people witnessed that and , like me, were afraid for the worst. This is very sad.

Thanks, my friend. I'm feeling much better. I think sitting out yesterday and today was the right decision.

If I'm feeling good tonight - and can properly hydrate and fuel - I'm thinking of doing the Half tomorrow. It's going to be 62° tonight and high of 81° tomorrow. Right now it's 79°...and I'd be finished by now. And winds from the North!

Call me crazy.

This morning extra extra extra EMH at HS was extra great. I did tower, tower, aero, aero, aero, toy story, slinky, Star Wars ride, Olaf photo, Star tours, Minnie photo, aero, and tower. It was a very effective morning haha!

Just left expo, now going for lunch. Goal is to be so tired so I sleep early tonight in preparation for the early race!!!

Also, a pity extra extra EMH isn’t regularly offered after today.

I’ll be thinking of you guys tomorrow - I’ll be starting a race just about when y’all will be getting up for the half. Doing a 20k (weird distance) in a trio relay. I’m doing the shortest distance (bit more than 2.5 miles) but pretty much after the first half mile it’s one long hill until I hand off the bib to my teammate. And then I either wait about an hour to take a train back towards the starting point or I just turn around and run or walk back down the way I came. It’s supposed to be pouring tomorrow morning, so I think I’ll opt to keep moving rather than waiting outside on a train platform.

Can you imagine running through a DHS that opened at 6AM?

Spent most of the morning at the expo. Got there when it opened and picked up our bibs. The legacy gift this year was a bamboo cutting board and 4 ceramic coasters. Much nicer than the plastic spatula in year 5! And I loved the photo op with the logos from all the past races. I still can’t believe it’s been 10 years!

My daughter participated the 100m dash this time. Like all kids races, it’s basically organized chaos. She’s only 15 months old, so the older kids took off running while she ambled on at her own pace. I think she was swept by 3 other waves before she finally finished. But we were so proud - she walked the entire distance herself.

Congrats to all the 5K and 10K finishers! The forecast for tomorrow morning is still looking great. Hope it goes well for everyone!

The park goes back to normal hours tmrw. The extras extra extra is done.
Also the park was empty!!! It was way more crowded during a night Tower race that ran through an open park during its post race party.

Awwww, that's so sweet.

Cooler than today. I ate lunch!! A sandwich from Earl's. No issues so far, so I'm sucking down water like a camel to rehydrate. Will go to bed shortly after my alma mater loses a football game.

Ran into someone who did both the 5K yesterday and 10K this AM. She was right in front of the runner who collapsed and died. She said it was really humid Friday morning. Glad I decided to skip it.

Are you driving? Volunteers will show you where to park. I take my resort bus to the staging area.

I'm at SSR, back in Congress Park, so I'm driving my car to the stop for the shuttle...otherwise it's a loooong walk in the dark.

Yes, it’s super easy. Very nice, quiet walk with plenty of volunteers to guide you. Stop at the TTC restrooms to take advantage of a real bathroom while you can!

Thanks! I’m at the four seasons and they don’t run a shuttle which is pretty annoying. So I’m going to have my wife drop me at the TTC or Polynesian

Yeah, I can confirm this. I saw them doing CPR and was worried for the rest of the race. What a terrible thing to happen.
