As a graduate of a disney wedding I will watch. But, knowing the cost of a disney wedding I will really be watching the prices. Let me just say, it was so expensive to get married on disney property that we got married in Disneyland, then honeymooned in WDW. And with no help from anyone anywhere at all, that was the least expensive route.

We saw this last night, I thought we had seen them all, but we had missed this one. It was rather good (parts of it were reminesant of other cable Disney shows.)

One thing was it really made up want to try Ohana's for dinner next trip, that food looked good!!!!!!

Wow though, 70,000 for a wedding, think of what you could do with that money!

Those people (Tara Lee and Ricky?) definitely have money to afford ALLL that. I mean, they had more than two characters AND they had the guests decide what they wanted to eat, something very pricy to do. The show was really good and it made me want to get married there even more. I hope to have something like that one day (wishful thinking  ). The only things standing in my way are 1) the Catholic Church not accepting a wedding there and 2)money (duh!)

I LOVED that special on the weddings! I caught it last night at 10pm and fell in love with the cake with the castle ontop. I was wondering if there was any way to buy that and have it shipped for someone getting married outside of WDW? I'm thinking probably not because it's so fragile, but I would do anything to have a cake topper like that! :slurp:

The idea that you have to spend a ton of money to get married on WDW property is a myth. Don't get me wrong. They offer a TON of options that CAN make it ridiculously expensive, but it's also entirely possible to do it relatively cheap as well, while still having everything you need to make it more than magical.

Back when my wife and I were engaged I was a member of a mailing list called Disneymooners. There were alot of people on there that had gotten married at WDW and knew alot prices and such. If anyone out there is seriously considering getting married in WDW I'd recommend trying to see if the list still exists and if so, to join it.

YES that list still exists, my wife still reads it occasionally. It was a wealth of information and helped us plan our Disney wedding.

As MainStreetUSA said above, you don't have to spend 70K to have a great wedding. From what I saw they had, 70K seems very high. We did our wedding, with 80 guests for slightly over the "national average wedding cost" according to that show. We had 3 characters & Major Domo. We didn't do the glass coach as it was $2500.

The main thing that jacks up the price, is that Disney does not combine food/beverage into 1 all inclusive price. Each little thing you add/subtract adjusts the price. Just like anything you buy in life, a package costs less than the individual pieces. :)

I saw this special as well!!! I thought it was amazing to se what Disney can do for a special affair!! WOW there are sme very talented people who work very hard to make this all come together
I really wonder where those two people Tera-Lee and Ricky got the money to put all of that together?? Did Disney give them as discount as they had both worked at Disney as actors?
And last but not least, if I hit the Mega Millions Lotto here in NY (it is up to 150 million at the moment) I am gonna have one heck of a PARTY!!!!!!!!!!! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: Belle

I saw that show Sunday night and almost fell off the treadmill when they mentioned the 70k. I spent that much on my first house way back in '88.

Hey Belle, we have mega millions here too - I will be buying my ticket tonight.

That was an awesome special. It was really neat to see the planning & kind of the behind the scenes of what goes into a Disney Wedding. I loved the bridal tea party----too cute. I had always wanted to have a Disney Wedding..but last year when we were getting married we checked into it & it was so expensive....we spent what the lowest amount you could spend at Disney in Jamaica & had a beautiful private wedding & a whole weeks stay too at an all-inclusive resort. I however will always dream of that wedding in my mind in front of Cindy's castle with me arriving in that carriage...ahhhh.

I watched it. I would love to have my wedding down there. It would be so magical! They really go all out to make sure that your wedding goes off without a hitch.

I'm already planning my wedding there and I don't even have a finacee. I do have a serious girlfriend though and I can't wait to marry her! I've got an alarm in my phone for the 26th so that her and I can both sit down and watch the magic come to life for one lucky couple at Disney and start planning ours even more!!! My best friend works concierge at the GF and he called to tell me about this show the other day that he has friends that were on it (the chefs and other CMs) and that it was really well done and worth watching. Oh I can't wait for that magical day to come to life. I want to spend more than 70K though, I want mine to be easily over 100K, I've always promised myself if I'm marrying the girl of my dreams, than a $1M wedding still wouldn't be enough.

Can you say Mommy and Daddy?

As of 2 years ago, CM's recevied 10% discount off Food/Beverage portion of the price, but there were certain restrictions. Then again, there technically is no more "Fairytale Weddings Depatment", it was all merged together into Catering & Convention Services.

And Disney gives you as a gift, a beautiful pair of Cinderella/Prince Charming watches that you cannot purchase anywhere on property.

For $70,000 I would certainly hope they would give you something!!!!
I was almost certain that that couples parents paid for that wedding. I cant imagine how a young couple could afford that kind of luxury!!!!!! My wedding here in NY/NJ area was in the mid $20,000 range in 1994. Even with accounting for inflation I cant imagine I would have come anywhere close to that amount!!! Good for them though that they have such loving and financially generous parents!!! Belle
