Disney Visa or Disney Gift Cards for Cruise Booking (onboard)

For someone who pays off their credit card monthly, is there any benefit to using a Disney Visa card over the Disney gift cards? I use my Disney Visa card to buy Disney gift cards at Kroger and get 2x the points for gas purchases and get reward points on my card that way. Is there any reason to change this? If the gift cards are good, I need to buy another this week.

Thanks y'all!

I do the exact same thing at our grocery store to earn money off gas. When I use my Disney Visa at the store I earn double points through Disney. I also used my Disney Visa for our deposit for our cruise and we earned $100 on board credit by doing this. This will be our first cruise and we all are so excited!!!!

If you use a Disney Visa to pay for your cruise, they generally offer a $50 onboard credit. They haven't renewed past this September and rumors are that they won't, but I think they will.

You can use any combination of Disney Visa and Disney gift cards to get the credit. You must pay for some of the cruise with the Disney Visa, but the rest can be Disney gift cards.

If you rebook onboard and get the rebooking onboard credit, you can not combine that with the Disney Visa onboard credit.

Thanks. I'll figure out exactly how much money I'll need for tips, excursions, and the deposit and get that much in cards to take with me...

You can prepay your standard gratuities. To us its one less thing when we get there. If for some reason we aren't okay with our service we can request the gratuity amount reduced while onboard. I imagine the prepaid funds would then refund to us or go to our shipboard account. Haven't had a problem with that so far but the option is there. ;)

Thanks. I'm calling DCL tonight and putting my rewards card and gift cards on my account so I don't have to worry about that once onboard. Guest Services always looked swamped on our 2011 cruise...
