Here's the new version of the show:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnQ4FCHxegg&feature=feedu

The first few things I noticed were the torches at the corners of the stage, more lights, and a lot more fog.

And I like how they took the Dr. Facilier segment (and cards) directly from Tiana's Showboat Jubilee and put it into the show. Don't get me wrong, they executed it very well, I loved the blacklight effect along with the neon costumes. It just seems weird to me since Showboat Jubilee was a very "happy" and "light spirited" show.

So the new lights, fog, neon, fire, pyro, and Dr. Facilier segment are the only things I like in this version. I wasn't very fond of the ending song, I kept on thinking it was going to go to the Halloween movie score. I also wasn't very fond of the "Off with your head" bit at the end. It was clever, I guess, but awkward.

What do you think?

Awesome and Facilier adds tremendously and will even more as his opening song becomes more familiar to guests. I'd expect that the shows will get even better as they get more experience with the dance numbers but they are already very good.

Couldn't they put something over the castle clock to create an even more halloween-ish environment? That would be my only complaint.

Never been to MNSSHP, but I was watching videos of last year's Villians Mix and Mingle. I think what makes this year's show superior is the choreography, and I like Facilier's role.

Last year's had Maleficent(the most evil villain IMO) as a more prominent character, fireworks, and Captain Hook had dialogue, plus they had Jafar instead of Frollo.

I think they should put in Hades from Hercules. Do any of you think we'll see Mother Gothel in the future in this show, a M & G, maybe in Fantasmic!?.... Who knows..

Too much Dr. F....and where is Jafar? Glad I got my picture with him a few years ago at the party!

I think there are not enough villains. Hades should be there to, Jafar never should have been removed. Add? Sure! Don't take away.

Jafar, Lotso and Gaston are out during the entire party. Which is actually better if you are a fan since the Mix n' Mingle villains stay out for like 15 minutes.

They do have a Hook with an almost real face. During the main castle show the hook there is just facial appliances and not a big head like the villain show.

I do prefer the Dream Along with Mickey Hook over the big head Hook… although I suspect that DAWM Hook looks kinda strange close up.

Plus, having to sound like him too. To which I tip my hat to the guys who play the Mad Hatter for sounding impeccable. And the Snow Whites too, or at least the one I encountered at Akershus last year. Its like she walked right out of the movie!

When character performers are good at voices it is magic! Two years ago we met Belle at Cinderella's Royal Table and she sounded so incredibly Belle! I have a video of her chatting with my daughter and it still gives me a thrill to watch.

I'd still love to see Yzma!

Yes! This!!

I'm sure this went over the heads of a lot of people, but if you listen to the music between the Facilier section and right before the Villains appear, you'll hear a very eerie rendition of "When You Wish Upon a Star". I love it when Disney "hides" these little nuggets in plain sight. It's only a few bars of music, but a great segue from one section to the next! That's the music geek in me, rearing its head.

When in doubt, look to Tokyo:

Also, the old Hunchback show at Disney MGM Studios (I refuse to call it that new name).

That choreography is TIGHT!

Overall, I really liked it. My only disappointment is the reduced role for Maleficent, who as the ultimate Disney villain, should be presiding over these things.

Agreed! (About Maleficent, didnt want to spoil the fun so I didnt watch the video)

First off thank you to those complimenting the choreography I know the person whom did that and I will pass it along.
I can't wait to see it myself up (esp after I assisted in some places) close so much gets lost on youtube vids.
Also to those whom commented about Tokyo we don't have to go that far just look at Disney On Ice except for the main characters (mickey and the gang) all the rest are done as face characters.

Disney Villians rule. I like the new show.

Regarding Frollo...he looks wonderfully creepy as is. I was a big fan of the old 'Hunchback of Notre Dame' stage show that used to play at DHS, and their 'face' Frollo was great.

I agree regarding Maleficent - she needs more presence. Hades and Jafar would be nice additons...but i am saying this more because i adore Hades and Jafar is a awesome baddie.

WDW Entertainment ROCKS!

I'd love to see Hades up there. Also if they could incorporate Ursula somehow - that'd be the best...she's my all time fav.

I've never been to MNSSHP but im hoping to make it down there next year. Anyone know if it's possible to meet more than one villain after the M&M? As someone posted previously that they're only out for 15 minutes - so I'm guessing you pick your #1 villain and get in line.

I think they should do more M&G during other times of the year. Sigh...

It's more like 10 minutes. But we managed to get them all just by watching all the shows and hanging around mainstreet. Which was cool because Jafar, Lotso, Gaston and Duffy were all hanging around! Not to mention the Mad Hatter was just a hop away at the TeaCups. We me TONS of hard to find and special characters.

That song is associated on many occaisons with Halloween, since it is about walking/dancing dead. Thus, it is often played at various Halloween events.

It's from Glee's Halloween episode - they mash up "Off With Your Head" by the Ya Ya Ya's with Thriller and do a dance. The reference is because the Queen of Hearts always says, "Off with their head!" Interesting that Disney would give a nod to a Fox show.

Although...

Apart from Dr. Facilier, who is brilliantly characterised, everything else looks really forced... I mean, would Frollo, a guy who almost drowns a baby and kills villagers trapped in a burning house, really get on a stage and do weird head-bopping dance!?
...I just feel Disney are taking major liberties with their characters, and whilst it's all in the name of fun, it all seems a little too farcical and surreal, and comes out looking cheap, in my opinion. If it all was done in the same eerie tone of the Dr Facilier section then it would have been great...
...but I loved that they played Thriller at the end, even if it wasn't Michael Jackson's version, but I am a little bias being a huge MJ fan :D

I totally agree that most Disney villains would not ham it up on stage for all the world to see (except maybe Hades and Gaston - neither of which are in the show)

But I think the Disney company uses the show to showcase the non-scary side of villains. I'm not saying I agree with it but I think that's their motive. Apparently they get complaints of villains being too scary - hence their disappearance from the parks (parades, villains in vogue is really PoTC and NBC in vogue).

I personally would LOVE to see the villains make a triumphant return to the parks. I can't get enough of them! But at least they haven't taken them out of MNSHHP...so silly villains or not - I'll take 'em!
