Is all good credited to D'Amaro and all bad to Chapek?
I haven’t seen much good credited to D’Amaro. Disneyland CM’s morale and standards definitely seemed to decline under his leadership in California. I blame him for the relaxing of the “Disney look.”

I don’t think he gets the parks any more than Chapek does, he just has an actual personality and some charm.

I'm assuming none of you went to the Christmas parties, right?

Because otherwise it would be quite hypocritical of you to call others who choose to go "suckers" because you don't like the price point, while if you chose to go to the original parties, I'm sure there were guests back then who couldn't afford those party price points and blamed you for the increase in up-charge events.

Huh? It's entirely about the price point. I can see nominal increases year over year, but I drew the line when a ticketed event became much more expensive than a normal day in the park in combination with reduced hours and less entertainment.

I went to the Christmas party in November 2019. It was $99 for adults, $94 for kids. Our entirely family got in for $411 after tax (we had a 2 yr old then). We got into the park at 4pm, we're able to use 3 fastpasses until the park officially closed, and stayed until midnight. Plus there were dance parties, stage shows, fireworks and parades.

Fast forward 2 years and You couldn't even pay for two adult tickets now for what we paid for a family of 4. In addition to that you can't get in until 7pm, there are no fastpasses to make to enjoy additional rides in your 'extra time' and the entertainment is drastically reduced.

Right. Now it's too much money for you (would be for us too) so you are annoyed and think the people paying for it now are fools and ruining Disney.

For the person who couldn't afford the parties you went to, they probably thought you were ruining Disney too.

I'm just saying, it was okay for you when you could afford it, now you can't or won't, so now anyone else who chooses to do so is the problem?

I get things are too expensive now. But I don't begrudge those who can afford something I can't. Certainly don't feel the need to insult them. Disney getting greedy is the problem, not the customer.

The MNSSHP events were actually cheaper than a single day admission to the magic kingdom, so you didn't feel like you were being taken advantage of. And if you could afford a ticket to the MK you could also afford a ticket to MNSSHP. These Christmas event tickets are more expensive than an actual park ticket and now they are holding parades hostage behind them. People are right to think it's BS.

Three Christmas event tickets are more expensive than an actual park ticket and now they are using parades hostage behind them. People are right to think it's BS.

That wasn't my point at all. 😐

You said that people who couldn't afford the parties felt the same way then as some of us do now with the new price point. Your point completely falls apart when you factor in that the parties were CHEAPER THAN REGULAR ADMISSION, meaning anyone who could afford a ticket to the Magic Kingdom could afford a party ticket.

I have no idea what point you're trying to make. It's not like they increased the price $10 and now we're crying poor. In 2015 was $74 per adult. About $20 less than a full day ticket. As I said in 2019, it was $99 per adult, once again about $20 less than an average priced full day ticket. Even the cheapest party now is atleast $20 more expensive than a full day at the park. The price more than doubled AND reduced the hours and experiences associated with the event. It's pure insanity, there is no possible way to defend this other than a complete cash grab on Disney's part.

I never said anything about those who are paying for it. Good for them, I wish I could afford it. As I said I'm sure no vacations over the past 18 months is definitely fueling peoples spending, but I doubt it's sustainable long term.

I'm not defending anything. I think I already said Disney's greed is the problem.

I'm saying I'm tired of seeing people insulted and called suckers and fools for doing something you (general you) might not like. People actually feeling like they need to defend the way they spend their money on their vacation.

Cue the people to come tell me that "oh, you mustn't have gone in the 90's, so you don't know better". :D No, I didn't go in the 90's. I was in my late teens/twenties and I had other things to do.

But such are these boards. Put other people down for what they want to do, are excited for, whatever, because you (general you) don't like it.

Your attempts to defend guests who pay these prices, here and in the Boo Bash thread, are a bit desperate. If a product is reasonably priced at $80, that doesn’t mean it will be reasonably priced at $260. It also doesn’t mean raising the price to $260 retroactively makes $80 too expensive. And no one has ever argued the parties should be free. This is such an absurd argument.

The people who pay these prices aren’t bad people. They may have many positive character traits. But it is perfectly legitimate to say they are making very poor buying decisions and contributing to the sharp decline of the company who’s greed they are enabling.

Sea World had the best christmas event in orlando before the prices went up on and prob one of the best in the country outside of dollywood or silver dollar city assuming things are still the same. I will fly down on a weekend trip and avoid disney and not feel bad about it,
Even better is that Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer alongside Clarice, Bumble, and Yukon Cornelius are present at all parks which are highlighted above (including Busch Gardens).

And are you the one who gets to decide if people are making "very poor buying decisions"??

I get to form and express an opinion regarding it, which I post alongside all the other opinions on this opinion-driven message board, yes.

But I would risk the opinion that this price increase is so egregiously absurd that I am not alone in thinking that paying it would be an unwise investment.

If you can afford it and want to go it is not an unwise investment.
