Disney Transportation

The one thing I will add is make sure to pack some patience if you are using the Disney transportation. It is a nice perk to not have to drive once you are at Disney, but there are times (especially at the end of a long day at the park) where you don't feel like waiting 15-20 minutes for a bus (and then, depending on where you are in the line, possibly having to stand for the trip back to the hotel). Factor in those one or two rude people who you are sure to encounter (like the people who make sure their toddlers have their own seats when they could use their parent's knee...) and some patience is needed. However, I would rather have to put up with that than spend the extra $ for a rental car.

Most of the time we drive to WDW. We have actually found the best bus service to be at the values..esp. during the busy summer months. As others have said WDW keeps the buses rolling. We have frequently stayed at Movies and have rarely shared a bus in the mornings and evenings, occasionally will during mid day.
During a Grand Gathering my brother and sister and their families decided to drive to the MK, while we opted to ride the bus. We all left our rooms at the same time. However, we were in the park quite some time before they were.
The plus side of the values is they have very orderly lines. So everyone can plainly see how many people are waiting ahead of them for the bus they want. (if you see an enormous line you could easily opt to drive that day).
When we stayed at CSR on Christmas morning security had to be called because two dads got into a fist fight over which family should get on the bus first. (neither family got on that bus as they were waiting to see what the outcome with the dads would be).
Since you are driving down, you could try it your first day and if you really don't like it, you can go with your own vehicle.

I never use Disney buses. I tried using them to the MK the year I stayed at BWI, but after 2 lengthy trips/waits, I used my car the rest of the trip. If I can't get there by monorail or boat, I drive.
