Disney to Honor Michael Jackson

He died too young and tragically which is making his huge. He was a cute kid, respected during his Thriller years, after that he was strange. Was he talented, heck yeah, but his wackiness overshadowed that. "Most" beloved, I don't think so.

Bottom line is he was an entertainer thats all. He wasn't a saint or a president but the media is acting like he was the next coming. It's a sad story but we shouldn't put him on a pedistal and worship him!

I guess everyone is different when it comes to something like celebrity deaths. I guess it's because I was never raised on any MJ songs that I don't really care too much about his death. But to each his own, I know I'm going to be crying my eyes out when Rob Paulsen passes away.

Oh, I couldn't honestly care less when a celebrity dies. Everyone dies, I'll be sad when a friend or family member passes, not a singer or actor. I'm just saying, MJ was ridiculously huge, and if Disney thinks he deserves his attraction back for a while, I'm all for it.

Especially since I think HISTA stinks up the joint.

I think this is a poor idea.

Especially the timing - coming after what could well be called the year of the pedophile at WDW - yet another story today.

Honoring an adult male who loved having young boys sleep in his bed - too weird.

But Disney long ago gave up the pretense of standing for anything - except for things that get people to open their wallets.

It is closed today through Thursday so WDI can do Special Effects. Jay will watch the show, and if he does not object,he will announce it. That is if he can find TL.

Its good that Disney is honoring him. Regardless of his "wackiness" the guy was the undisputed king of pop. If seeing and hearing about his death is too much, which it is getting that way, simply change the channel or look at other magazines.

:hurl::hurl::hurl:! I CAN THINK OF SOOOO MANY ENTERTAINERS THAT WERE... & ARE BETTER! I get sick of this crap....I can still remember him holding a baby in the air....

Ignoring the above whatchamatalking, I hope this means a black shirt with the purple 80's slick awesome Captain Eo logo, all faded and retro like an old shirt.

I don't care who you are, that'd be a cool shirt right there.

It's a secular form of beatification. Two reasons. People who used him to make money are not about to let go of their cash cow. Second, his memory can be used to emotionally manipulate young minds. He is as much a tool in death as he was in life.

And he probably deserves to be.

And Disney would be wise to stay away from the whole sordid mess.
My god, people like you are unbelievable. I guess you knew him personally, right? HA! Pathetic.

"Hey everyone! I watch the news, and now I'm the smartest person in the world! I know everyone like I know myself because all of the things I see on TV and read in the paper are true!"

Someone on TV told you that Michael Jackson molested children. So he must have, right? Someone on TV told you that he's weird. So he is! You saw him get way too much plastic surgery and act different from everyone else...so he's a freak! THIS attitude is what is wrong with the world.

...nevermind....I'm certain I'm wasting my time. You're all smarter than me.

Captain EWWW...

That is the unfortunate reality here. Celebrity worship is bad enough, but the idolatry cast upon this disturbed individual is simply pathological, and Disney should not touch it with a 50-foot cattle prod, in my opinion.

This is a bad idea. MJ was accused of molesting young children. It was never proved, and maybe untrue, but my wife and I chose to stop buying MJ CDs. Just because Disney has the rights to the Captain EO stuff doesn't mean that they should use it. It's bad business for Disney as far as I am concerned. Really bad business, and I am disappointed that they are even considering it.

He was the biggest star in the music world for many years. Nobody can ever take that away. I was a big fan........and LOVED his work. But bringing back Captain EO to the parks? B.A.D. idea. It has nothing to do with the film. I remember it being pretty entertaining. It has everything to do with displaying a former relationship with a person who was accused of doing really bad things to Disney's target audience.

Without saying anything, they should just respectfully let Captain EO rest.

You are also only looking at it from one side, the amount of coverage his death got is also what's wrong in the world. I'm not saying the new shouldn't report it but to to on for days is just wrong. It's wrong that this man is being treated like a saint and that people place more value on the life of a singer than that of a solider, fireman, or police officer.
