This is terribly naive. Much of what Disney’s done in the IT realm of the last year or two has been to boost their data mining abilities (Genie+, Magic Band +, etc.). So much tech - whether it is our laptop cameras, iPhone cameras, latent apps - are collecting data even when they are not “on” or being used.

Ask yourself- at a time when luxuries and basic necessities are being pared back in the parks and resorts, why would they suddenly take on this cost and hassle?
So Amazon is secretly and illegally recording you, so secretly that Disney’s IT folks know about this and can utilize the data from Amazon, risking the collapse of the entire business?

Your MagicBand can always collect your location (when on property), but your iPhone camera doesn’t collect anything when the green light is off. There are actual facts behind how these things work. Accepting the truth is not being naive.

There's no secret about it. Amazon is open about the fact you're being recorded.

Nothing secret or illegal about it, data is today's currency and one of the only things we manufacture any longer

They specifically deny that they do this and it’s absolutely illegal. They do collect data… when you are speaking to it!

Did you bother to read the article you linked? It says it does not record you until it hears the wake word.

Imagine uncritically believing this.

LOL Yeah, that's the point. The wake word is Disney. How many times you think you say 'disney' when you're in your resort room at DISNEY?

I don't ever link anything without reading it in its entirety, btw.

The wake word (or more accurately phrase) is actually “Hey, Disney”. I really don’t think that’s the kind of thing any of us would say unless trying to activate the machine.

You could knock the earth off of its axis with that pivot! In case it was a mistake, here is the trail of conversation:
The ONLY time your voice is recorded is after it hears you call its name, in this case, “Hey Disney”

I kind of agree with your new point about the wake word though.

No pivot at all. You're just deliberately being obtuse. Amazon has said outright they are recording everything after you say the wake word.

I seriously don't think "waking it up" without meaning to will be a big issue?

I'm trying to think why we'd say Disney so often in our room. I can only come up with Disney Springs. I wouldn't say it in association with restaurants, we don't refer to the parks as "Disney's" Animal Kingdom. I double we'll be discussing Disney + all that much.

I'm truly curious to see how much we say it and see if we keep waking it up.
