Disney Testing Paid Parking at Walt Disney World Resort Hotels

But by your own reasoning, if the Hotel is an attraction, then doesn't it follow that you should pay parking to visit just as you pay parking to visit The Magic Kingdom or Epcot?

I totally agree with validated parking, but in order to have validated parking, you must have PAID parking to begin with.

If you pay to park at Magic Kingdom, and go to Epcot in the same day, do they charge you for parking again?

I think Disney views parking as being transferable. I think whatever changes they make we will see the parking fee cover both resorts and parks. So if your a resort guest and your self parking is being billed to your room it will include theme park parking as well.

Then Disney would have to make all the resort restaurants exclusive to those staying there. And people staying on property get free parking at the parks. It's off property people that are trying to skip paying the parking fees.

why would you waste your money anyway? ;)

...which is status quo and therefore no issue for me.

Happens already when you see the price on the shelf and when you get to the check-out they add sales tax to it.. Why isn't the shelf price displayed including the tax? Not every one knows that tax is to be added or what amount it is especially if they don't live in the area.

ever wonder why your dollar is taxed twice anyway?

I don't have a huge problem with validation, although that means there would need to be some baseline of either time or $$ spent in the resort. So, saying there is a 2-3 hour free window and after that X number of $$$s per hour unless validated by a store or restaurant. What would be a fair price of money spent to get free parking. Is buying a fountain soda enough? Is it a $5 minumum, we could go back and forth forever on that point.

But I think it's very important to keep access to the resorts for non guests. The resorts themselves are their own best advertisement. I recently took some family members with us to the world. and they and no idea they could visit the resorts. We popped over to the CBR and my family member loved the experience so much they decided to book a stay there instead of staying offsite as ususal. I know this is a solitary experience but I'm sure it happens...This quick stop to have a coffee and read a newpaper on the water turned into a several thousand dollar vacation stay.

Resorts are their own attractions and part of every trip for myself and my family.

What about having validated parking? That's impossible to do without PAID parking to begin with.

I don't know what point you are trying to make here.

The default would be most people get their ticket validated and therefore do not pay anything or have a magic band with free entrance attached because they are staying at that resort. The small percentage of people who do not get it validated (which would presumably drop even smaller once the policy was announced) would pay to park there. This would be people who did not eat at a restaurant or buy anything in the shops. Maybe they are locals visiting guests. Maybe for some people it is worth paying extra (assuming it would be more than $20) for the convenience of avoiding the TTC.

My point is without paid parking you cannot have validated parking.

You guys are so up in arms about Disney wanting to charge you MONEY for something that you use to get for free, that you are overlooking the bigger problem here.
