Disney Survey

Browsing the Disney website yesterday I was asked to do a survey, wondering if anyone else has come across the same question. Or can I hope they change the reservation process.

Assuming protocols were no longer in place (list of obsolete protocols): if I would prefer to make a specific Disney park reservation each day, or if I would prefer to select the first day of my trip that I might want to visit any park.

I think the park reservation thing is stupid and an added pain as many (most?) of us don’t want to have to plan every darn thing in advance.
But I thought I always thought that's what Disney guests loved. Before you got to Disney you had your rides planned out for each day as well as dinning. Guests loved having the spreadsheets out for each day.

My family has been sketching out which park we're going to visit in which days since 1996. Logging that on some website is an extra step, but not any extra planning for us.

I saw the same survey a month ago or so...

Is there any reason for anyone to actually WANT the reservation system?

I mean, apathy and being okay with it is one thing and I'm sure it applies to tons of people. I can't imagine any reason someone would actively prefer to be locked in and/or locked out, though.

I guess, if you're visiting on a day like Christmas when they might reach capacity and you don't want to get there until late?

We're a mid June family that eats a lunch table service every day somewhere, so plan those already. But come 60 days out, I don't know how much shuffling days we'll have to do to get the places we want. Besides historical capacity days +- a few on either side, it doesn't seem a positive.
We use to have 2 rest/waterpark days in a 10 day vacation. If we decided to go to a dry park instead, no biggie. Now I have backup reservations.

I personally did like the planning process. It was part of the build up for the vacation. (To each their own).
But, the huge advantage then as opposed to now was the ability to flex.
You booked dining at 180 days, when the FP booking at 60 days rolled around you were able (way in advance of your vacation), to choose those 3 rides in and around your dining, pool times, etc.
And on ONLY 2 days in all of that did you have to be up early, not daily on your vacation hoping your 7 am plans don't conflict with your dining, etc.
And of course if while on vacation you decided to blow up your days plans you were able to go to another park without killing time till 2pm.
It's really not defensible in it's current format.

Oh yea bc Genie is such a better option waking up early and then the times being too early for when i was getting to the parks or not until mid afternoo lol… give me my FP+ back w 3 locked in rides at my preferred each day every day lol.

:D:D Sure, I love to plan my time out. I enjoy thinking about where I will go each day, what dining I will reserve, what rides I will go on. The fun part is thinking about all the fun each day holds. Prior to arriving Ive got all my details fairly set. BUUUT, I also would like the option of changing my mind if I feel like it. Sometimes you wake up and decide today I would rather walk around EP instead of taking in MK. Or I may want to change up depending on the weather outlook. My money paid should get me what I want.
I understand Disneys reasoning on why they want daily park reservations, but thats a problem they caused a lot of and now have to design how to work around it. Many of us are holding off on booking because of this and other Dis made problems.
Per the survey, if I had to I'd rather select the first day if it guarantees my getting into the parks I'd choose in advance, if theres a chance I'd be locked out of any park by having to select each day.

What's weird to me is they both require a date for a ticket AND a reservation. Seems like they could be smarter with ticket purchase, room reservations, etc, to take the pain out of the process.

Let's see I've purchased my plane ticket, but forgot to reserve my seat! Dangit.
