People can roll their eyes at metal detectors and bag checks- but I agree, better than nothing.

The one thing no one can roll their eyes at? Working dogs. The best and most effective deterrent would be 4-5 bomb and gunpowder dogs spread out able to sniff nearly every person.
Some might think there would be difficulty with the loads of kids; But unlike “therapy dogs”, these dogs are rarely distracted by children, eye contact, etc.

When there are elevated threat levels, dogs often work the security line at airports more and every single guest gets a nose tap by the dog.

If you had a bomb or gun, and you saw dogs tapping every person- think you’d try to sneak it in? Negative.
I’ve been in the explosive detection field for over 15 years and yes, K9s are very valuable. I just got back from a cruise and shirt stay at the park and their K9s were out and about. My buddy is their K9 supervisor and they were certifying a large number of vapor wake teams. Disney is doing a lot to mitigate and detect and deter people from malicious actions.

That is news to me, and I am quite familiar the inner working of Disney security at all levels. I am a retired LEO, worked as a reserve LEO in the Orlando area, and have many close friends in security and management in the Disney security apparatus. One of them is their main outside consultant regarding threat protection. I think you may be mistaken what you walked into. The FBI and US Marshals are frequently on Disney property because criminals go on vacation too, but neither are based in any way on Disney property.

It’s not an impressive setup if that’s what everyone is wondering. Uni has more of a dedicated office and multiple desks - and a clearly labeled name plate.

You're right as that is the bigger concern. Many of the recent mass shooters have, one way or another, been flagged / reviewed / or had someone close to them reach out for help, and yet we end up with this horrible crimes. Have to wonder what it is that allows the investigators to determine they are no threat.

Its easy, all the agencies are bureaucratic organizations the way you get ahead in that type of organization is keep your head down and dont make any decisions. So the easiest path is to ignore everything and complain about funding and workloads when the bad actors they were warned about commit bad acts

Just morbid curiosity, does WDW have a plan in case a mass-shooting event happens at one of parks or hotels? I'd imagine the park or location it happened in would have to be closed for a few days, there might be damaged that would have to be repaired as well.

Disney would simply close the affected park
