Disney Springs Tenant Map

See, this is the lineup of stuff that would make Disney Springs a more well-rounded place. I assume a lot of these got cut though. Where's Walt's Place, Yogorino, character dining? Oh well, all I can hope is that what's yet to be announced takes care of some of the missing types of places.

But the biggest thing I noticed here is "Disney Bakery." I haven't been following too closely but are they actually turning Goofy's Candy Co. into a generic bakery? I don't know how many of these ideas/plans fell through, but I hope that's one of them. Maybe these changed plans aren't all bad.

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” ~ Helen Keller

Walt's is under construction, it will be right next to the Edison.

As you mentioned it was a placeholder. When you actually critically look at what's happened they pretty much delivered. Everything happened, has a clear substitute and even quite a few things came as 'extras' beyond what was promised. Really the only clear thing missing is a Character Dining spot (which depending on who you ask might be a good thing).

Completed
Boathouse
Morimoto
Raglan Road
Food Truck Park
Trader Sam's (sub Jock Lindsay's)
Splitsville
Powell's Sweet Shop (sub Ganachery)
Argo Tea (sub Joffrey's)
Yogorino (sub Vivolvi Gelateria)

Under Construction/Announced
The Edison
Walts (?replaced by Neverland Tunnels)
Wine Bar
Disney Burger (now D-Lux Burger)
Italian (?replaced by Bayless' Tablas Frontera Mexican concept)
Food Network (sub Art Smith's Homecoming)
Disney Bakery (sub Amorette's)
Shake Shack (sub Blaze Pizza)

Missing
-Nom Glug? (No idea what that is supposed to be)
-Disney Character Dining
-Olive Oil (depends if you think this was a real restaurant or just an olive oil shop)

Additional things
-Sprinkles Cupcakes
-Baby Cakes
-STK Steakhouse
-Planet Hollywood Redo
-Paradiso 37 Expansion
-Fulton's Redo
-Morimoto Quick Serve
-Marketplace Margarita Bar

I'm sure I've even forgotten something.
Walt's is under construction, it will be right next to the Edison.
Hmm, well it seems not all that much was lost then. Clearly I haven't been following very closely. And some of your substitutes are a bit of a stretch. Frozen yogurt is miles better than gelato and ice cream!!

And hey, maybe the Apple Store or Character Dining will find its place one day...

So in total, not as disappointing as I had originally thought. I'm excited to see how the final place looks.

Ha, I'm surprised the frozen dairy treat for a frozen dairy treat of all things is what you thought I was stretching on. It was the Mexican for Italian I was going to list as separate items!

It's definitely a departure from those things originally listed, but the gestalt is generally the same is all I meant to demonstrate (unless you are a mega frozen yogurt fan I guess!) :D

Since it has been awhile and we have the benefit of hindsight, here is the leaked vision board for Disney Springs from 2013.

Are we getting Dior, Brooks Brothers, Tory Burch? Those, in particular, always seemed very unlikely to me.

Oh huh, cool. I am clearly not following this super closely. I just hope it wasn't cancelled since Steve said that. Again, I can't see how many people would buy an expensive new Apple device while on vacation, but I think an Apple store would really add to the environment of the whole place. I like playing around with the new device and gadget stuff and I'm sure many DS visitors would as well. Certainly better than another Jewelry store. Or gelato, yuck!

A Brookstone would be nice too.

Well. I am not just a mega frozen yogurt fan, I am a defender of the truth. It is an insult, if not a crime, to put gelato or ice cream on the same level as frozen yogurt. Frozen dairy treat for frozen dairy treat? You are terribly oversimplifying it!

Your comparison is like putting Cinderella's castle and Sleeping Beauty's on the same level. First of all, though they are both castles, they are obviously quite dfferent. Secondly, regardless of what anyone tries to tell you, one is just clearly better than the other, and anyone with eyes can see that. Disneyland people have their opinions, but those opinions are completely biased; they're just defending what they grew up with. This is the same with ice cream and frozen yogurt.

Alright, I'm just kidding. Well, sort of. I do get your point that there is a replacement for nearly everything, in one way or another. Lets just hope this gelato place is a decent impostor. :D

You haven't been to the Apple Store on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach then. I'd venture to guess the patrons there are mainly from overseas...on vacation...and the place is mobbed beyond belief every day.

Really? A Brookstone? Is it 1994 again? I'm surprised that company is still in business. LOL!

I'm horrified. The only reason people like frozen yogurt is because they can put a ton of toppings on it to make it taste good. Take that from someone who worked in a froyo shop. And the gelato shop is based out of Florence. As in Italy. And their gelato is incredible. I would say that even frozen custard is better than froyo. It's a late 00s fad that is luckily dying out.

Things heating up in the frozen treat fandom.

Haha I actually like Brookstone. A big part of Brookstone's success comes from allowing the person to actually try out a lot of the items and cool technology. For one, it brings people into the store, and keeps them there and looking around. But also, it's a good way to make someone really love a product and want to buy it. Most people don't buy something unless they either see a convincing ad, know a friend who has it and likes it, see the product up close with their own eyes, or have tried it out themselves. The fourth thing there, which is likely the most powerful, is solved by putting items on display for people to try out. It's why places give free samples and stuff.

Brookstone and Apple's way of selling things is something that others should learn from, if they have not already.

I went to a restaurant once, and instead of giving dessert menus, they walked around with a tray of the dessert options. It's genius, because if people see the delicious treats right in front of them, it's harder for them to say to the server "nah we'll skip dessert today."

If anything, even if people don't buy anything at the Apple Store, they'll be more inclined to back at home now that they've tried stuff out. An Apple store is not just for selling things right then and there, it's partially a giant advertisement. And to prevent there from being mobs of people and little walking space, an easy thing to do is to just make this store very very big.

Brookstone only somewhat recently exited bankruptcy. They're hardly a grand model of success.

How often I have been shopping with a female and I went into brookstone to "look around" while they shopped...and often come out with some neat thing with me (actually still mad I didn't but one other thing last time I was in a brookstone in December...keep saying next time I see a brookstone I am going to look for it again).

Has there been any announcement of a camera store coming to DS? It would have come in very useful on my last trip as my nephew forgot the charging cord for his DSLR camera. I imagine that a store that specializes in cameras and camera accessories (lenses, bags, tripods, flashes) would do very well.
