Is Trophy Room going to be a clothing store or a restaurant? I remember in the Marketplace Co-op store they had a section named The Trophy Room, but this is just called Trophy Room

"
  • TROPHY ROOM: Founded by Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, TROPHY ROOM is an elevated and unique athletic retail boutique experience, inspired by the trophy room in the Jordan family estate. Opening its first location at Disney Springs, the store offers footwear, apparel, memorabilia and exclusive merchandise."

It's an attempt to keep people from going to the outlet malls near by and keeping their dollars spent on property. So if that's what you call this attempt then sure.
The dollars spent are kept on property, but it's not like Disney owns these stores. They get rent, and likely a percentage.

Therefore Disney gets the profits with none of the risks or labour costs of actually running the stores.
I'm not begrudging Disney having these stores in DS, and if it adds to their own bottom line, that's great. There's got to be something in DS. Just saying; I wouldn't buy this stuff there; I can do that at home.

Even with adding some of the already announced locations that are opening in May(yet for some reason aren't included on this list, Uniqlo, Blaze, Pandora, Sprinkles, Zara, ETC) I still don't get to 56. Must be plenty a few more in the pipeline.

Edited for clarity.

I was expecting more unique tenants, but I also didn't know there would be so many stores available. Maybe nothing great for domestic guests, but purchase opportunities for foreign guests?

This is not appealing to me- High end overpriced merchandise and when visiting WDW I would not care to buy this kind of stuff. I can get much of it in my local mall. Hope it does well though...

Honestly depends upon where you live, even domestically. Trust me, 50% of the places one finds as routine and available everywhere in their major metropolitan area are not available where I live, even if it is the largest city in my very large land area state.

Still looking like we are at a total of 43 out of 56 announced locations.
I highly doubt they'll have trouble filling those 13. I mean, it's been heavily rumored and even hinted at by Steve that an Apple store is coming and that hasn't been announced yet. The stores just announced are likely the ones they expect to open over/by Summer.

I'm with others who say that these shops don't do much for me but I honestly couldn't tell you what I would really want. I don't actually do that much shopping at the mall when I'm there. What rare and unique type shops are you all looking for?

I'm not sure either what stores (unique or not) I'd want in that space. There's plenty of space in the parks, hotels and Marketplace for Disney-specific merch, so I'm fine with the Town Centre being a lifestyle mall for foreign shoppers and locals. Overall, I look at Disney Springs like this based on what's been built and announced:

Marketplace - Disney merch
Town Centre - Lifestyle mall
The Landing - Dining complex
West Side - Entertainment complex

Taken as a whole, that has much more widespread appeal than just selling the same Disney stuff everywhere. Losing The Adventurer's Club is still awful, and West Side needs more help with both content and aesthetics, but Disney Springs looks to be a strong retail-based complex that at least is more modern and worthy of the concept than what was there before.

Those confused with Disney's approach to the Springs need to look at the Forum Shops, Fashion Show Mall or Miracle Mile Shops in Vegas. These are a big deal for tourists (particularily foreigners) who visit the Strip, and even the ones with minimal theming are packed with people looking to splurge on one-stop shopping (clothes in particular). It's the same with other big Orlando based malls.

Disney is simply looking to keep those customers on property in the same way they wanted PI to stop people from leaving to go to Church Street Station. Now the market wants malls more than clubs, so Disney is changing its focus.
