Disney Springs Mask Enforcement

Why are you doubting that there are increases in covid hospitalizations? There have been increases in covid hospitalizations here in Seattle--heard about it before they were reporting it on the news as my mother started taking care of more cases in the ER. I would expect each state does get a daily report on the # of cases, just as WA state does? Not sure why you're calling that fake?

I don't doubt that there are increased cases of covid hospitalizations. I am questioning (as we all should) the actual numbers. We have been hearing more and more, from those who actually work at these places, that the numbers are being fudged. I want a true, accurate number, not just the "huge increase" scare the media puts out. We should get facts, not just something that will make a big headline. We have all seen the clickbaits.

They haven't banned alcohol though now have they? Think about the millions of lives it would have saved by now if for the past 50 years it was banned... Many more lives would have been saved during that time in the US alone than have been lost to the virus over the entire planet.
Think about the number of lives saved if cars were banned. Think about the number of lives saved if Chiicago actually had a government that worked. You can go on like this for ever. Life is not safe. Even if you never leave your home you could be hit by a tornado. Let us all use some common sense and live life.

Erm, have you heard about prohibition during 1920 - 1933? It failed mainly because many adults wanted the choice to drink and there was a huge black market producing alcohol despite the ban. So it was tried as the government saw a problem from alcohol.

There's a big difference though in as much as most deaths relating to alcohol are mainly through voluntarily drinking it. Ok some none drinkers get killed by drunk drivers or murdered in a fight by a drunkard, but mostly it's those drinking it that are killed as a result. You don't really have much of a choice in catching the virus so to compare the two is pretty much clutching at straws.

Worst case scenario there never will be a cure for the virus, if that's the case then the new normal will change our world in big ways. At some point we'd have to learn to accept it as an everyday risk and just get on with it as best we can. But have we reached that point yet, I'd say no?
Well the statistic from death records during prohibition show that it drastically reduce deaths from alcohol and even when weighed against those from the crime associated with bootlegging the number of deaths was still greatly reduced. Yet we didn't stick with it and the result today is tens of thousands dying each and every year from something that could much more easily be eliminated than a virus... but we aren't doing it.

I truly feel sorry for you. Even though you had the virus and have after effects from it, you just don't seem to care. Be glad you weren't one of the 113,000 Americans (and rising) that have passed away from this. You should be telling your story and encouraging people to do everything they can not to get this virus.
Realistically look at the number that have died and when you put it into perspective the overwhelming majority were old people in nursing homes. And while people love to say how much they care about those people and that their lives matter, the fact is they are in those nursing homes because their family didn't care enough about them to deal with them at home. The nursing homes in this country are by and large just places where families ship their old to be warehoused and die. If you look at the number of younger people killed by this virus it is far less than the number of young people that die in any given year from the flu. We don't shut down schools because of the flu each winter now do we.

I went to Sea World. I only spent a bit more than an hour. I left cause no one was following and enforcing rules. Yes, you can see some but it seems like it's not enough for you to feel safe. Add to that there were only like 3 rides open so the wait times were long.

No problem with wearing masks but it's so unfair that I'm abiding by the rules when others are not.
If you want to wear a respirator and goggles then go ahead and you'll be safe whether everyone around you is wearing a mask or not. Masks aren't for protecting others no matter what the medical flimflam artist are saying this week, they are for protecting the person wearing them. Or if you prefer not to wear one and not to worry go replay the early Surgeon General speech where he said you don't need a mask.

Wow you really have ZERO clue about nursing homes do you

Being hit by a drunk driver isn't a choice. Or do you think people are trying to get killed by drunk drivers.

Have 115,000 people been killed by drink drivers this last few months though? If you're unhappy with those killed by drink, smoking, plane crashes, car crashes, train wrecks, murdered by people with mental health problems, badly fitted wiring, cold, hunger, aids, etc then fine and do something about it. Trying to equate that with the current virus though is ridiculous.

Well just to be safe let's ban cars while were at it........
Honestly.......that's what you have.

Wait....millions if people slip and die in the shower each year also....better get rid of the showers also.

Let's see..........guns.....dont get me started on guns.

Still zero connection to pathogens and public perception of safety.

This is pointless......

Here’s my “usual” take:

The masks will be gone soon - a combination of weather and “boredom” with the old news viral Infections...

The crowds won’t come because the economy is wrecked...Disney will cry foul and then stick it to the employees and those that do show soon enough.

Standard operating procedure.

You forgot one thing.

Or the Millions and Millions of $ they would have lost if they did ban alcohol. Big Gov't doesn't tax COVID. At least not yet.

We already tried banning alcohol. - It didn't work.

Gross infection numbers alone mean nothing and are used to distract and scare.
Better to state hospitalizations and death numbers if you want to be taken seriously on this.
2 million? Not trying to be scary.
Just factual.
America has by far the highest number of this virus on the planet. More than the source where it originated.
During a global pandemic.....this is not good.
Take it seriously people.....please.

So, I went to Disney Springs yesterday and didn’t feel fully safe. All the cast members I saw were wearing masks, but there was a lot of guests not wearing them and I didn’t see any cast members enforcing mask wearing. I felt safe around cast members but not other guests. I’d expect Disney to enforce this but I don’t know if they fully are. Anyone else notice this? I attached some pics.

It was for the driver who decided to get behind the wheel. Getting corona is not a choice like I explained to you before and your drunk driving analogy does not work or apply to the corona virus. You never learn do you?

The drunk driver isn't always the one that gets killed or do you think everyone else is magically protected.
