There are tires in the station that keep them moving at a snails pace. You can see the operations down below:

I was there about the same time as this guy. Be sure to notice the different speeds at which the gondolas move. On the line, they’re moving very fast. In the stations, they’re crawling. Note how close the gondolas are in the station, due to the difference in speeds. In the station, they’re moving slower than a 65 year old’s pace.
