Disney Ruining Disneyland?

Well, this is certainly starting to look bad for WDI.

Well I am sure they feel confident that the casual guests will enjoy it. Otherwise they would have shelved the plans long ago.

I honestly don't think they are going to ruin the attraction. I doubt it will be as successful as the recent changes to POTC and the Mansion, but I don't think it will be a disaster. No matter how frustrating the principal behind the change is to me, I don't think they are going to screw up one of the signature attractions in park history. And if by some chance the changes aren't popular among the masses, I trust they will be junked.

You have been to the Imagination pavilion, right?

As much as I love JII, IASW is known all over the world. Yes mainly for the song, but it is one of the few theme park attractions that people who have no desire to go to the parks know about. IASW is on the top tier as far as recognizability goes.

And although I personally liked both Journey replacements, they are not on the level of the original attraction. And honestly they aren't close. Hopefully the next incarnation of the pavilion will see the attraction returned to its former glory.

I think much of Disney's statement lately has been "We're WDI, we're perfect, we know what we're doing and we wont screw this up."

The LA Times and other areas are pointing out that they have made mistakes, big huge ugly mistakes, and this appears to be yet another one.

Whenever a company has to start issuing press releases DEFENDING their product, you know they're making decisions that are bad for their business.

This company has pretty much been dead to me for a while, but wow... After two decades they still find new and impressive ways to undermine their product. No wonder every other theme park company in the business smells blood.

Yes- JII and IAWS are two separate classes. You'd be hard pressed to find a person who doesn't know IASW, but most people I know have no idea who Figment even is.

If they added a Lion King bit that would be fantastic and i'd have to see i agree with that due to no Lion King rides as such.

I've always wanted a boat ride (a bit like splash mountain) but that was Lion King.

However i do agree that it would ruin it. As Its a Small World is a classic ride anyway.

You know, for a long time (IMHO) a lot of imagineers were simply trying to survive and stay employed. You can judge them all you want, but I don't fault anyone for following the company line in order to stay employed.

From what I have read on this site and others a lot of what was actually built did not come close to what was envisioned and designed by the imagineers.

It seems to me that when the imagineers have been given the latitude they need in creativity and budget they deliver. When they are constrained by marketing or strategic planning directives the end result is poor.

Personally, I thought they did a great job on EE, POTC (my son loved it), the Nemo Sub ride (Disneyland) and TSI (Disneyland - again my son loved it).

I haven't seen these yet, but from what is written they have a great plan for DCA, the HM changes seem to have been accepted, The Living Seas at Epcot (with Nemo now) seems to have been done well and the new NEMO show at AK has been well received and adding Donald to the Mexico pavilion did not end the world. I know that so far SSE has been underwhelming, but not everything is going to be loved.

I will reserve judgment until the final product is out. I am not one of those that believes we need to protect rides for the sake of protecting them. I was dying to get to Disneyland to ride Mr. Toad so I could see what I was missing. I still don't see it. It was OK, but not great.

I am with you. IASW is my favorite ride (the WDW version-- very excited to finally see it in DL within the year) but I'm not going to get upset guessing, pre-judging and speculating. I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

If not-- well-- I might get a bit y :ROFLOL:

But methinks it would take a LOT to ruin that ride.

And your real world experience that makes you entitled to make that statement would be...?

This guy doesn't need real world experience. He is Mr. Disney and if you don't agree with him you are a moron. Read his other posts on this board for other examples of his arrogance.
