take the mouse speed boat things out into the lake and you can see a lot of the remains, and you can see that island in the middle (discovery island?) and all it's stuff on it. which btw, they were supposed to make into a real life version of the game Mist, but the game company didn't go with it or something like that. and it's prob a fire hazard, lol.

The easiest and cheapest legal way to see it is to simply take the boat from Ft Wilderness to or from MK. From the boat you will be able to see RC in all of its post-apocalyptic glory.

You can rent a boat from on of the resorts and get fairly close to the old River Country site but the pictures on these boards give you a much better idea.

There really is no way to get in to the River Country site as it is all fenced off from the old ticket booth all the way back to the rear of the site. You can get in to see Pop's place and the walkway area near Mickey's BBQ.

In some places you can see through the fence and make out some of the rock formations. The fence is too high to climb over...don't try it.

They are from a site called DisneyPix...have no idea who took them.
For a while there was a makeshift temp wall made of plywood and 2 x 4's around the water area...now there is a sturdy chain link fence.
Im sure when those pics were shot it was much easier to sneak in there through the wood temp wall. It is impossible to get back there now unless one of the locked gates is left unlocked which is unlikely.

How deep was that pool? It's weird to see a pool you can actually "swim" in. I hate how shallow all pools are these days. I miss the days when you could go to the "Y" and be dared by your older brothers to climb to the top of the high-dive and actually jump off. :D And then there's the challenge of touching the bottom...in the 12-foot section!
