Disney returns to 2D Animation.

This is real good news. I really believe that it will only take one feature equivalent to that of some of the more praised classics like appropriately, The Little Mermaid to restore faith and audience into the medium. I love Pixar, and I love them being affiliated with Disney, but I don't want them to be making the only good Disney films. I would love to see some new legitimate Disney classics.

What about the rumor that John Lasseter will bring Animated Shorts back to Disney movies? I read a while back that he got the green light to do two. Any substance to that?

Eric Goldberg who is returning (animator of the Genie and responsible for "Rhapsody in Blue" - Fantasia 2000) is the head of the new rebuilt shorts division. It was actually just closed down shortly ago and now it's back up with him in charge.

Eric Goldberg also it turns out, proposed the Frog Princess back in 2001, but Disney wasn't interested.
