Disney resorts transfering your stuff to another Disney resort

There is a chance that for my 2 week birthday vacation that I might booked 2 Disney resorts. For example days 1 to 8 at Animal Kingdom Lodge and days 8 to 15 at Wilderness Lodge (or another words first 7 nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge and last 7 nights at Wilderness Lodge. For check in and check out day I am there for the whole day).

I go solo and I don't drive. So if I did something like this I would need Disney (or whoever) to transfer my stuff from one resort to the other. Day number 8 would seem like the day that the transfer would take place as that is the middle day of my vacation, but it could still be a different day. I have heard that Disney does trasnfer your stuff from one resort to the other if you do this. Who all has done this before?

Now right now I do have the Dolphin booked for my birthday vacation at the Floridian resident rate. Now there is a very good chance that I might stay at the Dolphin for my birthday just as there is a very good chance that I might stay somewhere else. I went ahead and booked the Dolphin so I for sure will have something in Disney booked at a good rate. I think I have heard the Dolphin and Swan will not transfer your stuff to a Disney resort (I believe this is because the Swan and Dolphin are not really Disney resorts).

Anyways where I stay for my birthday is very open. I just always want to stay in either a DisneyWorld resort or the Swan or Dolphin. Downtown Disney would be the next choice after that, but chances our I can always find something before I go looking for a downtown disney resort. When I go to the Polynesian this August I will be looking for the bounce back in my room to see if there is anything for my birthday week (or maybe around birthday week). Then later on when the passholder rates come out I will look for good passholder rates for a Disney resort. Even If I book a Disney resort at a passholder rate after that I still might would change resorts. Where I stay for my birthday vacation does not get official right away.

You are correct, Dolphin won't transfer your things for you, but another idea is a cab. From one resort to another shouldn't be too much money. If you book between WL and AKL, they will transfer though and although I haven't done it personally, I've heard nothing but good reviews and have never heard of any problems.

Personally, I would hire a cab. We did transfer from Caribbean Beach Resort to All Star Movies a couple of years ago. All Star apparently delivered ALL of our luggage - 8 pieces - to the wrong room . It took them 2 days to finally track it down. Nightmare! We had nothing but literally the clothes on our backs! Again, spend a few dollars & hire a cab. No worries!!!

Yes if I stayed at the Dolphin I might would just stay there the whole time (or if I did not I would call a cab). I may not even do 2 resorts for my birthday week even if it's like Animal Kingdom and Wilderness Lodge. I basically wanted to get some information just in case I did that.

Now something I was thinking about. If I did like the Dolphin one week and like the Yacht Club the next week. Well since the Yacht Club is like a 3 minutes walk from the Dolphin moving or having my stuff moved there might be easy.

Maybe this is why some Disney resorts will only put your stuff in your room if you are actually in the room. For example the Polynesian told me that I need to be in the room when they bring my stuff to the room. In any case I can always tell them to wait until I am in my room before they put my stuff in my room.

Disney has an overall policy against delivering bags to unoccupied rooms. It's a concession to labor ... a Bell Services or Luggage Assistance CM can't possibly earn a tip when delivering to an unoccupied room.

In order to facilitate the luggage delivery aspect of Disney's Magical Express (in which bags "magically" go from airplane to inside of resort room, whether or not the guest is in the resort room), Disney had to guarantee CMs an employer-paid "tip" for each DME luggage delivery.

Also, the DME luggage delivery is tracked by a computer system using barcodes on the luggage. When DME delivers to a room (either occupied or unoccupied) they scan a barcode on the doorframe to show the location they delivered the luggage to.

Inter-resort transfers are not tracked like DME luggage is.

Quite surprised, we have used the transfer process several times, most recently this past January and I have never ahd a problem, they tag all of your luggage, and actually lock it into a cage (we had luggage for six people) and move it, ours went from BWV to BLT and was there way before we were, when we checked in at BLT, they called and the luggage was delvier 5 minutes after we arrived in our rooms. They do advise you though that you need to be there for a luggage delivery.

Would definitely do this again! Just call Valet services when you are ready in your room to check out of the first hotel.

Again, this was a couple of years ago & we were assured our luggage would be secured & not delivered until we were ready. Everything was tagged by bell services - I watched them do it! I was told we could call for it anytime after 3:00 - which I did only to find out that they could not locate any of it. Finally, 1 manager let it slip that they had delivered it to the wrong room but didn't know which room that was - by now it was 11:30 pm & the cast member responsible had gone home for the night & could not be reached. Like I said, it was a nightmare - probably just a fluke but those things can and do happen.

Yes a lot of things can happen for both good and bad. Some never do happen while others do happen. Anyways I can understand why you would rather use a taxi cab next time. If a taxi cab works best for you go for it. I still think I would rather have Disney move my stuff for me.

I know that mistakes can happen, but that is true with just about anything. One time a cast member who was a photopass person dropped my camera and it did not work right after that. Disney ended up giving me the money that I paid for a camera and with that money I was able to get a new camera for about the same price that was even better. I actually ended up paying just a little bit more money for a camera that was better than the one I was thinking about getting. So it actually turned out to be a good deal for me.

Some people in my place might not want to have a cast member used their camera to take their photo and this is fine. I will still let cast members use my camera to take my photos.

When you transfer between resorts you call for Bell services on the morning of your transfer. They come to your room to pick-up your luggage and you can tell them it needs to be transfered to another resort. They catagorize your bags as to secure (laptop or high dollar electronics) refrigerator items, freezer items or just standard luggage. You bags are brought back to Bell services and await for transfer to your next resort. Now you can either bus hop your way to your next resort and check-in or you just go to the parks and enjoy the day and check in later (my recommendation). Typically your luggage will waiting at Bell services by 4:00 PM. To then get your luggage, call Bell services from your room and they will deliver it for you typically within 10 - 30 minutes depending on how busy they are.

The OP said that their luggage was lost because it was delivered to the wrong room. I have never stayed in a value before, but Bell service policy states that you have to be in the room for bell services to deliver (I believe DME follows a differant policy and can be delivered to an empty room, which I have yet to let them take my bags to my resort). This policy may only be for moderates and higher since the values have a luggage service and not Bell Services. The luggage service runs on a multiple room drop-off system instead of individual service which is what Bell services does. With that being said, if you are staying between AKL and WL you will not have a problem. We will be doing 2 transfers for our 2 week stay in December and have been through it dozens of times over the years. It is really painless.

Don't forget to tip Bell Services.

When you are dealing with luggage transfers in the Value resorts you are dealing with a whole differant animal. When you were in CBR they have Bell services which is great. They only deliver your luggage to your room when you are there and it is personal delivery of your bags. When you get to the Value resorts, your bags are delivered when the luggage service people are making a run. This may be once an hour or less and they move as much as they can to as many rooms as possible and they apparently do not need to have a person receive their luggage. If you transfer again between moderates, deluxe or DVC resorts you should not have a problem.

We've had only good experiences switching hotels. We've even had the CMs take refrigerated items and make sure they stayed that way! We had to pick them up from the bell captain, but it was worth it to not have to replace milk, etc. Good luck with it, and hope your birthday is magical!

Thank everyone for the information. I also did call the Animal Kingdom Lodge also and asked this same question on other places online. When I give my stuff to the Bell service at the Poly in a couple of days I might also tell them about my upcoming birthday trip and how I might have 2 different Disney resorts booked. I like hearing from a lot of different people when I ask questions :)

What I think I would do is this. I will have express checkout for both resorts. For example after the Bell service comes to my room I will give them just about everything. Since I like to swim I might swim for a couple of hours before going to Wilderness Lodge. After I go to Wilderness Lodge and check in and when my room is ready and when Bell service brings my stuff to my room and all that. Well after all that I might go back to Animal Kingdom Lodge to swim some more.

I have thought about this myself. That the Bell service can't get a tip if they put your stuff in your room when you are not there. Maybe there are a couple of different reasons why some of these resorts want you to be in your room.

a cab will only cost you around $10...totally worth it. we had trouble when we changed rooms within the same hotel and stayed on the same floor (club level boardwalk).

Wow that stinks, but just changing rooms down the hall and they could not do that? What did they do that was so bad?

I have changed between resorts many many times and have not had an issue. Even with refridgerator and freezer items all has gone good, except one time they did bruise my bananas and they sent up some replacements. Personally I'd rather use the money to tip Bell services and spend the time that I would have been shuffling between resorts hanging in the parks.

I hope you're kidding.

You didn't really complain that your bananas were bruised during luggage transfer, did you?
And let them bring you fresh ones????

That would be so beyond lame if you did.:hammer:

I think you must have been kidding.
