Disney refillable mugs as christmas gifts?

Hello everyone had ye another question. We are going to Disney World first of Feb. We are taking members of our family whom have never been. I thought it would be cool to buy them some refillable mugs as christmas presents. Is it possible to buy them ahead of time? How would i do this?

The reply I got from the WDW mail order associate was "no, the mugs must be bought while you are at WDW". Get gift cards for the mugs and put pictures of the mugs on them. Hope this helps.

If you know somebody who will be there soon you could have them pick some up. There is also the possibility that a local member who you are friends with may do that for you and ship them to you :shrug:

I know the sign posted in the Pop Cetury cafeteria says that the mugs are only to be used during the stay in which they were purhcased. Having said that, I saw a lot of refillable mugs being used that wern't for sale this year, so I'm guessing that rule isn't strongly enforced

But since they are only being used for the trip and are not reusing them they are not breaking any rules, the mugs were received as a gift.

No, you cannot buy them in advance. The mugs have the Year of a Million Dreams on them .. This will NOT be the 2009 celebration "What Will You Celebrate" .. The mugs will look different .. I would do as suggested and get a gift card

When the resort specific mugs came out originally, were they not refillable for their lifetime? My Aunt has old POR mugs that we were told were good for the lifetime of the mug. The guy at the foodcourt acted as though they were in 2007.

They were, but that policy changed quite awhile ago. That is why there is always such a...uhm...heated discussion whenever this topic comes up.
