The main street in DA is wider than Hogsmeade. They intentionally made the buildings very tall and to give it a more enclosed feeling the buildings lean in towards the street to give it a cavernous feel. But there is actually lots of space to move around in Diagon Alley.
There we go @WDWDad13 . All better now?

Things are getting a little heated in here.

Well, if anything, this discussion about UNI one upping Disney in a big way proves that yes, Universal has closed the gap in quality attractions. I admit, I tend to get a bit defensive when it comes to Disney attractions wearing the crown of "greatest" and then UNI taking it away. But hats off to them. They are simply doing what we expect Disney to do. I hope they keep it up. TDO will either respond in a meaningful way, or if they don't, they may be laying the groundwork for a bigger % of future generations to no longer consider WDW THE go to vacation choice.

I guess all I can do is hope Disney, perhaps under different guidance, will get back to their signature ability in creating the greatest attractions in the world.

All of this will be in the past once Uni opens their new HP land in Hollywood and the focus shifts to DLR and CA where they will have to figure out a way to fold matter or bend space to squeeze something in. If I were local to SoCal, I don't think I'd have to think twice about which park to spend my money at once that new castle is open for business.

Ok... I'm going to come out and say it.

Both sides of this argument really crack. me. up.

@WDWDad13 I'm not responding directly to you, but rather quoting you because your statement here is directly related to the point I'm about to make.

Pixie dusters are all screaming that everyone is bashing Disney and that HP fans are claiming that Uni can do no wrong.

Uni fans are claiming that all Disney fans are pixie dusters who will never admit that Disney has any flaws and are obviously blind to what a fantastic park Uni really is.

I'm just over here laughing because no matter what either group of fans says, both resorts are great places to visit, but they both have their fair share of flaws and weaknesses as well as strengths. Both groups of people are equally deaf to anything negative about their side or anything positive about the other, when in fact, there's no reason in the world why anyone has to choose one set of parks over the other. Sure, not everyone can afford to visit both on every trip... DH and I fall into that category. We did a trip a few years ago where we only went to Uni, and this last June we only went to WDW. As much as I like Disney, we very well may end up going to Uni the next time we visit Orlando. Or not. I don't know, because I have no idea when we'll even be going back, much less what we'll do when we get there. But if I choose to visit Uni and not hit WDW while we're there, it doesn't mean I'm not a Disney fan. Or vice versa.

To an extent, the same should be true with these discussions. Just because I defended the appearance of DA doesn't mean I have any kind of dislike for NFL. On the flip side of the same coin, just because I enjoy going to HS for RnRC and ToT, I'm not disallowed from having just as much fun at either Uni park.

It's perfectly fine to have an opinion one way or another, or to favor one group of parks (or even just one park) over another. But it seems like every time someone doesn't like what someone on the "other side" has to say, it automatically becomes a finger pointing session with generalizations and an assumption that one is either a pixie duster or a member of the First Church of Uni.

Not everything has to be that concrete.

The problem is that the pixie dust princesses take a simple compliment about Uni as a negative comment about WDW And Wdwdad13's agenda is quite obvious. He made many remarks (as noted by @lazyboy97o ) about DA and waited for someone to say something so he could make his, "people say negative things about Disney so why I can't I bash Uni" argument. It started with this:
couldn't you also say that no one should accept positive reviews too until after the ride has been open for months?

That seems to be the going trend for anything positive around here towards Disney anyways... just saying
then he says other stuff like "how's the Kool aid? " and when people call him on it he back peddles into "I was just making an observation" and has the nerve to call other people trolls. Then as usual he becomes "the victim" in all of this because "everybody is picking on him". That's really all that happened here today.

Gotcha. I guess I wasn't looking far back enough in the thread for this to all come together quite like that.

Either way, though, the fact remains that there are people on both sides of the extreme who do that. People can't seem to accept the fact that both companies have things they are doing well and things they could improve. Sounds like we know which side of that fence he's on... lol. ;)

I'm a self proclaimed (Former) Disney Fanboi. I still love WDW although lately it's been a bit disapointing for me and I would love to see them reclaim all that former 90's glory that I remember :) Now I would say I'm more of a Theme Park Junkie. I just want to be entertained. I don't care which company does it :) I want to see Potter Land, Avatar land, Star wars land, Lord o rings land. Whatever! as long as they are done world class and my expectations have been elevated by all the new things out there. I REPEAT I LOVE WDW but that won't stop me from giving them tough love in the form of criticism when they need it. Frankly, in my opinion Disney has been SLACKING and all the criticism on here is the evidence of that. I believe (I KNOW because even though I only recently started posting here, I have been lurking on here for years) that most of the Disney critics on here are just like me, giant jilted Pixie dusters. All Disney has to do to win us back is give us a reason to snort the dust again :)

So when the hell is video of The Fountain of Fair Fortune puppet show gonna come online? They didn't seem to do it at all during previews and however small it may be, it's the one thing that hasn't been video'd yet (There's been grainy as hell Gringotts POVs already)

There's supposed to be a puppet show there? Are you sure you don't mean the Beadle the Bard show? Cause that was definitely going on when I went.

There are two Beedle the Bard Puppet Shows: Tale of Three Brothers and Fountain of Fair Fortune.
Oh wow I completely misunderstood. I heard "Fountain of Fair Fortune" and thought of the Butter Beer store :hilarious: No, that show isn't playing yet (as far as I know). Only The Tale of the Three Brothers.
