If you take Iger's value of time and the resources it took for that PR announcement, you probably have a greater current direct cost than what Tariff's should be effecting underway projects that is worth the damage control.

That’s a senseless statement.

Maybe take a split second to think before you post something like that.
It was a joke (well mostly a joke) and, as is required for a joke, I used the winky emoji ;) ;);)

If all the attractions Disney has planned to build either does not happen, or is opened late or is scope cut, Iger is obligated to give reasons (or excuses) if you like.

These discussion boards are fun and we all must remember Disney will do (or wont do) as it chooses, and nothing we say here will make a difference.

It is what it is.

Nothing would please me more than if Disney opens everything on time with "EPIC Universe level attention to detail". ;)

Okay but jokes should be at least a little tiny bit funny in order to qualify as a joke. Otherwise it’s just an inane mean-spirited post.

One persons inane post is another's funny post ;)

Don't worry, Iger will be fine no matter what happens.

He will provide suitable answers in the quarterly reports going forward no matter what is delivered, scope cut or cancelled. He really has no choice, its his job to do so.

Maybe everything will be fine and Disney will deliver everything on time with "EPIC Universe attention to detail"

I sincerely hope so! WDW are my home parks!

Can you imagine if Walt was still alive if he met with Wall Street during quarterly earnings and gave his explanations if the company did not meet Wall Street numbers ? His infamous one was

I don’t make movies to make money , I make money to make more movies.

I have to say, this is exactly what is happening now!

Joke posts are always inane, whether they suit your humor or not. They’re fine once in a while; the problem is when they become almost the entire balance of one’s post history with basically no complementary substantive

I don't think that first part is true.
A lot of posted content from those with satirical senses of humor make great points in their jokes, and often times, those posting sincerely or cynical to some may not say much at all. No acounting for taste kind of thing.

I'm in the unique position of not liking much of anything announced for Walt Disney World. The announced attractions and lands are either a poor fit for the host park or just uninspired. So, I'm not at all emotionally invested in any of these projects coming to fruition. I do have sympathy for the construction workers and ride manufacturers, though. It will be interesting to see what impact these ongoing tariffs have in the end.

My intuition is that Disney should tune out the noise and proceed with developing these projects. I'd guess we land at some new trade equilibrium in 6 months that broadly resembles the pre-tariff situation. The only wildcard is China, which could turn into a more protracted affair. Admittedly, there is risk that a recession emerges and disruptions continue. Ultimately, you're gambling either way. If you scale back your plans and cancel stuff you might regret it if fortunes start turning around.

What would Disney cut or scale back if they have to axe something?

Tropical Americas is going to be finished according to the announcement. Imagineering is already well on its way with this project, and there isn't much they could conceivably cut anyway. They aren't going to eliminate the big IP draws they're bringing to DAK. Indiana Jones and Encanto both fill important niches.

Unfortunately, it seems the Cars attraction is moving forward no matter what. Eliminating Tom Sawyer's Island and Rivers of America is a high priority for Disney. There are undoubtedly effects and scenes that could be cut from this attraction, but it will be built in some way, shape, or form that resembles the vague concept art we've seen so far. This project is also important for opening up the land to the Northwest of the park. This project seems too important to shelve... Unfortunately.

If there was one project that could easily be cancelled or delayed, the Monster's Inc. coaster fits the bill. Hollywood Studios desperately needs additional capacity, but this coaster was never the answer. Hollywood Studios needs family attractions to fill out the day. Going on TSMM, Alien Swirling Saucers, and MMRR again and again can get tiring for families. A boat ride, an omnimover, or a Fantasyland style dark ride would do wonders for that park. This coaster was a fun idea, but it felt like a poor fit for DHS's ride roster. This project and the Cars ride in MK are both approaching their construction start dates. In a match up, I'm willing to guess Disney chooses to move forward with Cars over this coaster.

Villains Land is still years away from construction. There's no need to make any hasty decisions yet.

I've seen the rumor that there is some additional announcement coming Hollywood Studios. They could cancel that before it's ever announced. We'd probably hear some rumors from people in the know, but it would soon be forgotten.

Then we're starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel. Are they going to cancel the Electric Mayhem retheme? That can't be the sort of project that breaks the bank. It will be fascinating watching how Disney responds to this in the fullness of time.

Satire and sarcasm are generally humorous rhetorical devices applied to substantive discussions with an actual point. When I said ā€œjoke postsā€, I was referring to posts that exclusively contain a one-liner, punching-up insult, or meme and nothing else to offer, which seems to happen a lot.

Some of the best satire and best wit can be delivered with one line.

You are splitting hairs.

It's taste.

If it goes into what boards find as herassment, it is policy.
