Disney Pins and such!!

Two things I've been thinking about lately. My son wants to trade some Disney Pins while we're there. I've seen everyone saying watch where you buy them from for various reasons. Where do you buy yours?

Second thing is--a friend of mine sent her daughter to Disney with her sister and they had a drawing of the little girl made to be like a cartoon character. Where are these and any idea how much it costs?

that's true, but most of the reputable ebay pin sellers i've dealt with in the past will not sell a pin without a mickey rubber back. also, i just like them a lot more than the replacement ones :)

many of the walmart stores in the area of disney sell A LOT of authentic disney merchandise. i would say if they are on a disney pin card and have the mickey rubber back, they would be worth a shot.

as others have said, most of the scrappers or fakes can still be traded in the parks if they look 'real'. it is a moral/ethical issue for most of us, unless you're a serious collector/trader - then it becomes a more serious issue.

That right there is an issue as well, because as somone else stated, chances are that the pins you are GETTING in a trade are scrappers as well. Many people do the eBay thing to trade with CM's. CM's laynards end up loaded with fakes, so when you go to trade you are getting a fake as well. I don't know of anyone who would buy a pin at a WDW location and then trade it to a CM - why would you buy a pin you didn't want? Some of the free pins on CMs are real, as well as the mystery pins, but run of the mill pins - nope.

Many non-CM pin traders have real pins. They bought multiples when they came out, and now are looking to trade to complete a series, or collection, or whatever. But they are not going to want your eBay scrappers either.

cast lanyards are checked nightly. it's possible that a scrapper ends up on it during the day, but unless things have changed that much in the last couple of years, scrappers should be removed after each shift. i've also seen CMs refuse trades because of scrappers, or not put the scrapper on their lanyard.

I'd love for that to be true. I've gotten scrappers trading within minutes of opening.
