Disney Partyware

Are there any gift shops in the parks (or the resorts, too, for that matter) which sell party hats, napkins, etc, with Mickey, Donald and gang on them? Our baby (who isn't going with us) turns a year old the day after we get back from Disney and we want to have a Disney theme for his birthday party. But under no circumstances do we want Pooh! I'm of the old school which thinks that the proper representative characters for the Disney Company should be Mickey and gang. At the risk of going off on a rant, I'm sick and freaking tired of Pooh being the representative character of the company. Almost everywhere you turn, if you want your baby stuff in Disney, it's almost always Pooh. I almost wish they'd lose the rights to Pooh and solve that problem right there. *takes deep breath*

Anyway, I digress. We want to find partyware for our son's birthday which has the Mickey characters on it, and we don't seem to find much up here. If we can't find any, it would be nice to know we could just pick some up down there. Are there any shops at the parks that would have this kind of merchandise?

I hear you about Pooh.

I got all of my Mickey Mouse paper plates at Walmart....They are made by Dixie....

Everywhere I went....it was cars, pooh or Princesses......I just wanted my fab 5.....

I got goody bags on ebay and they were so nice......

You can get cups and napkins on ebay, too...

I have no idea if they carry any of that stuff in the actual park, just trying to give you other ideas...

I dont recall seeing part stuff per se in the parks. One place at DTD you may want to look is in the Everythings under $10 store. They have a bunch of clearance type stuff and I want to say I saw some party stuff there as well. My other suggestion would be at the World of Disney store at DTD.

Guess what. They did recently lose a major court ruling about the Pooh rights. And its awful. If they DO lose the case eventually, or have to settle, its going to be a HUGE amount of money which will hurt the company badly.

So thanks for that thought.

I work at Walmart, and we don't carry Mickey Mouse paper plates...at least not in the party isle. I don't think we have it in the paper plate and napkin isle either.

I found this site which has some good Mickey & gang partyware, but it is from the UK. Is it going to be a problem converting it over to American dollars? And, for the price listed, what would that come out to in dollars?

The Mickey plates, bowls and cups sold at Wal*Mart are found along with all the other paper plates, etc. I don't think they are considered party items.

I found a really cute website called www.birthdayinabox.com They have Mickey Mouse themed everything for a party!!!!! It doesn't look that expensive either. As for selling party supplies in the parks or resorts, I have never seen anything like that there.......Hope your son has a spectacular 1st birthday!!!!

try www.birthdayexpress.com. I am using them for my son's first birthday. They have mickey themed birthday supplies.

We are living overseas so unfortunately we don't get too many disney shows and my son ended up loving ELMO. Great! So that will be the theme for his first. But as soon as we get back we will definitely be exposing him to more Mickey!:D

I think I remember seeing some in a section of World of Disney in Downtown Disney last July. It was in the housewares section. This was almost a year ago, so they may not have it anymore.

Do you have a Party City or some other party supply store? I know they carried that the last time I was there.

My daughter had a Disney Babies themed nursery and a Disney Babies themed 1st birthday party.........she's 18 now. This thread brought back a lot of good memories.

Good luck!

I did a Mickey themed party for my son's first birthday. I wasn't crazy about the Mickey designs that I found, so I used black plastic dinner plates, red plastic dessert plates, and yellow cups. I also cut black circles out of construction paper and put mouse ears all over our house. And for the table with the food, I used a red table cloth and cut two white ovals out of oak tag and put them in the center of the table, so it looked like Mickey's pants. I topped it all off with red, black, yellow and white balloons and the whole thing looked really great!

sadiebird - sounds cute

Hubby and i agree about enough Pooh on baby things. We were looking for a simple Mickey shirt (bought a few my first tees years ago for the daycare kids I took care of, can't find them anymore) and everything is Pooh and Tigger. They are number one for dislike at this time, enough already. Hubby said he knows cause Pooh is easy to license where they others are not so simple.

Oh, I almost forgot, we ordered custom Mickey Mouse t-shirts from disney.com. We each had a different Mickey image and a different Mickey saying below the image. We happened to be going to DW the week after the party, so we wore them all together at the parks as well.

A few other things I forgot about, I made mouse ear sugar cookies and dipped the ears in chocolate. That was the party favor. Plus for the babies, I bought small red paper bags and punched mouse ear shapes into them using a mouse ears craft puncher and then put a small Mickey Mouse stuffed animals into them. And for the older kids, I went to the Disney store and bought Mickey Mouse tupperware and put M&M's in them.

you have pics you can share? It sounds so cute. For our son's first I think we will stick with the My 1st b-day stuff, but the mickey theme would be cute for another year.

Here's an image of the table that I set up to look like Mickey's pants, as well as the mouse ears on the wall and the balloons...
