Disney owning Fox

Ok, this might seem like a completely stupid question, but if Disney has the American Idol Experience in Hollywood Studios, will they eventually own FOX? Here's the thing though, Disney owns ABC and ABC and FOX compete. Also I cannot see Disney having stuff in the park with 24, Family Guy, or American Dad. Post replies and maybe give me some opinions/explanation

No. They don't own Fox and it's very unlikely they will. The last time they bought something with "Fox" in the name, it was a rather big failure.

I doubt Disney would go so far as to purchase a competing network, it would create an internal conflict of interest. Just because the gained rights to a single show does not mean they are looking to take over the network.

Ok, just a thought. I am not as intelligent in the business of buying other companies, especially Disney. I completely understand the whole idea of causing conflict. What happened last time when they bought something called "Fox"?

There's been a lot of chatter (and an insider-trading scandal) recently about Disney trying to dump at least a large portion of its share of ABC, so I don't think they're in the market for another network. I think that Disney sees the future is in owning and controlling the content, and that traditional distribution channels like television networks may have a limited shelf-life.

So to answer your question, no, I do not believe there is any chance that Disney will ever own Fox.

Just to clear up any possible misconceptions: FOX does not own American Idol. It's owned by 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia, and they are the ones who are licensing the theme park rights to Disney.

Also, don't forget that The Simpsons Ride is at Universal Studios. I don't think that's it's any indication that Universal will buy FOX, just as I don't think AIE at DHS is any indication that Disney will do so.

FTFY. The SEC regulates securities traded in the United States. The FCC handles broadcast regulations.

Fox Family. They spent way too much for it and the ratings were rather horrible as well.

I believe Simpsons runs on FOX also, which Universal is already using.

A lot of people don't realize that networks usually only syndicate shows that are created by a myriad of different production companies. The networks don't "own" the shows, only the rights to broadcast them.

It's not unheard of for ABC to produce a show that is actually aired on NBC. And viceversa...
