Disney not being very helpful

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. Have been in touch with the hotel we're staying at and the response we got didn't fill me with any confidence as they were saying they couldn't sign for packages unless we'd already checked in and would they be required to do so. Ringing the number to speak to a Disney sales agent from the UK on Friday, I was told they could be sent to a Disney hotel if requested even if not staying there?

As for the 'one off good will gesture' it was never described as that when we had the problem resolved last time. The gentleman who dealt with me back then just said the easy solution was to send me the value of the bands as a gift certificate. I suppose in fairness the difference last time was we'd been incorrectly told when purchasing the passes over the phone that our magic bands would be issued at 'will call' and had arrived at 'will call' to collect them, only to be told that it didn't work like that. Thus we went without the magic bands for our stay and got it resolved when we returned.

I guess when I speak to Disney this week the only solution is to have them sent to our hotel but to order them only a few days before we leave as we can't risk them arriving before we do and not being signed for, only problem being that they may not arrive till near the end of our stay. As for the bands that we obtained with the voucher last time, they were in a bag that was stolen from our car (not that that's of any relevance other than to the person querying why I don't just use the old ones).

I guess I'm just a bit annoyed as I've been told two different things now from representatives from the same company and in fairness I'd not thought of the number of people wanting a multitude of items sending to Disney hotels to be collected as somebody else kindly pointed out. I'll be polite as ever to the lady I speak to but on the surface it seems like the simplest solution for us (not Disney, I agree) isn't an option. Ah well, such is life and again thanks for all the replies.
I would ask to speak with a manager of the hotel you are staying at. I've had things shipped to me at many different hotels that I was going to be staying at because for some items it is better to ship them than trust an airline when you don't want to mess with them on the plane. Not once did I ever have the hotel tell me they couldn't sign for it. I've also purchased items from 3rd parties and had the stuff sent to a hotel I was going to be staying at, and again, no need for anyone to sign for anything. You just have the person sending it address it as John Smith (whatever your name is) c/o name of hotel.... pretty simple.

Or you could just use the hard ticket like I do. It works the same as the magic band, even easier in my mind. Put it in your pocket, when you need it reach into your pocket and pull it out, use it, put it back in your pocket. Worst case scenario is that you will lose weight from all that extra physical activity.

For me I actually find the magic bands a lot easier. I unfortunately suffer from dystonia which affects the co-ordination in my arms, hands and legs (similat to Michael J Fox, but different actual illness). Taking things from my pockets and wallet is a bit more problematic for me than swiping my wrist past a scanner so I personally prefer the band option.

OK, I wasn't aware of that situation. I suspect that letting Disney know that may make them more helpful. Either way I think there must be a way around it.

Almost true! I read about that offer last week as we are soon to be purchasing 14 days tickets in the U.K. and was informed that you get a voucher that was only redeemable at one of the stores in Disney springs...

This is correct. It can be collected at World of Disney and it is a limited time, UK exclusive Toy Story Land magic band, one per ‘Ultimate Ticket’ purchased.

Spoke to Disney today. The lady nicely explained that they wouldn't credit me as it wasn't their policy. Interestingly Disney are currently offering to UK residents only, a 14 day ticket for the price of a 7 day ticket which includes a magic band. I queried how that magic band was received in that offer as it couldn't be sent to the UK and the deal said nothing about having to stay in a Disney resort or providing a U.S address. After a long pause I was told "In that instance you're sent a voucher that you exchange at the parks for a magic band"

Super that was :):banghead::arghh:
Ridiculous. That should be the policy for AP purchases outside the USA as well. I mean, really, how hard would that be to implement?

Touché' but I will be honest, I/we have only ever found one magic band and that was in the pool at Yacht and Beach Club, I/we have not found any in the parks, personally

I found 8 bands in the Typhoon lagoon wave pool our very first trip with them (they were still beta testing). Have never seen any since. We find about 5000 pin backs per trip.

I wouldn't expect you to my friend, I only really mention it when it's relevant as it's just something I just try to get on with. I didn't tell Disney about my Dystonia in the first 4 emails as I don't want to play the 'disability card' as I can use a hard ticket even though it's quite awkward compared to the band.

In my 5th email yesterday I mentioned it briefly as I didn't want them to think it was just about having a magic band for the sake of it and there was a bit more reason than awkwardness. I also requested information on a refund on my yet unused Annual pass so I could then order the 14 day ticket which they've confirmed allows me to collect my magic band from Disney Springs (or wherever) when I arrive.

Unfortunately their reply thanks me for giving them the additional medical information but that it doesn't change anything. They also refuse to refund my money so I can get the 14 day ticket with collectible magic band from Disney.

Dear Mergatroid,

I appreciate your reply, and you giving me these additional details about your personal circumstances. I want to assure you that we value you as a Guest and an Annual Passholde, and am sincerely sorry that we are unable to provide the service you are requesting. Please know it is our policy that all Tickets and Disney Annual Passes are nonrefundable. The purchase of a Disney Platinum Pass grants admission for a year to all four Theme Parks without blockout dates and includes Standard Theme Park Parking, and unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads during this time period.

Should you wish to speak further, I would be happy to contact you at a time that is convenient for you or Mrs Merg.

I appreciate the time you have taken to share your thoughts.

Kindest regards,

Ah well I've tried and failed. I'll just stump up the cash myself. The reason for my post was just to get a feel as to whether I was wrong or right about what I thought could be done for me with what I consider a fair request. Thanks for all the honest replies regardless of whether they were on my side or the mouses, it's good to have a variety of perspectives.

This is pretty atrocious customer service. The kind of thing, though low cost in the grand scheme of things, would/could turn someone off from Disney all together.

Not sure exactly what I said that prompted that snarky remark. I was only trying to give suggestions. But, OK, I guess.. you tried and it didn't work since if anyone finds out that you got special treatment then they would have everyone having a problem that would be helped by them overlooking their rules. I guess that is siding with the mouse, but, I would have said that no matter who was the originating corporation happeneds to be. Heck, I'd even offer to let you use my address, but, North Carolina is a long cab ride to WDW, so that probably wouldn't work. However, I will give it one more try. You must be staying someplace. I don't know of any hotels that wouldn't hold things for you, but, timing might be the problem there. I do believe that you can still buy a band even if you don't stay onsite. Perhaps you have tried that already, I don't know. Anyway, I hope that you do find a way in spite of the fact that you don't think I was sincere about helping out. I might have been slightly condescending in my original post, but, that was made without knowing the complete story. After you told us, I really thought that it might help your cause if they knew, apparently it didn't, sorry bad advice I guess.

The one thing I don't understand is if you paid for something that they can't deliver, doesn't that mean that they overcharged you and you should, if nothing else be given a credit for money that was sent and not covering anything? Probably just another part of the story that I either missed or am unaware of, but, I do know if they had charged me for something then didn't produce it I would be heavily in their face so you could at least not have incurred an unnecessary expense. Don't know... so all I can say is good luck with whatever your decision happens to be.

Goofyernmost, I wasn't being 'snarky' so apologies if it came across that way?

When I said "I wouldn't expect you to my friend", I meant that as I don't mention my Dystonia on here much that you'd have no way of knowing that. You seemed a bit apologetic that something you didn't know may have offended me and I was actually trying to make you feel better about that as there was no reason for you to know. None of my reply was meant in a snarky way, I actually tried to make it as friendly as possible as you're offering advice.

I've have even asked for $25 back (or whatever) as you suggest, but they won't budge. Just one of those things I guess. Thanks for your advice though.

Have you told your story about getting your nose broken at Epcot ever? Sorry for the randomness, but I just read your signature!

It was a parody thread I made up many years back after somebody made a thread on here claiming they broke someone's nose in Epcot. I created a thread from the perspective off the victim and it became quite popular.

Well, that's interesting.... I was told that as long as they hadn't been used yet, they could refund the cost.

The email I received from them
