Disney Nation- Chicago
Welcome! To My idea for a brand new Disney Resort in the Midwest, specifically a little bit Northwest of Chicago. Disney Nation- Chicago. Chicago Disney will feature three theme parks, an indoor waterpark, a shopping/dining/entertainment district, and six resorts with plenty of attractions of their own.

A great deal of Walt Disney World’s out of state visitors come from Chicago and the Midwest, and I considered three different areas (Texas, Outside San Antonio, New York, Near Niagra Falls, and Chicago) And Disney Magic, Combined with Midwestern family values seemed like the perfect fit.

So now, let me immerse you in a world where you can step foot on the moon, have an adventure on a pirate ship, and learn what true magic is, at Disney Nation- Chicago!

Let’s get down to it.

With Disney Nation, Chicago being the third of the American Disney Resorts, it’s an interesting balance, to preserve the Disney Magic and Legacy of Disneyland and Disney World, but not being repetitious either. Which is why the three parks of Disney Nation, will be a little bit different.
Or course it begins with a mouse, so the first and flagship park of Disney Nation is “Disneyland- International,” a twist on the Magic Kingdoms of the past. Second, we invite you to celebrate the history of America, and look toward the future, with “Disney’s American Adventure” and finally, a kingdom like no other lies beyond the volcano, as Disney takes you to a world where the greatest myths and legends of the world come to life in “Disney’s Legendary Kingdom.”

But that’s not all. Disney Nation-Chicago will feature the largest “Downtown Disney” complex of any Disney resort, including several covered portions to accommodate for Chicago’s nasty winters. The World’s Largest Indoor Waterpark “Lava Lagoon” And six astonishing Disney Resorts! “Disney’s Grand European Resort” the flagship resort featuring some attractions of it’s own, located just outside Disneyland International. “Disney’s American Adventure Resort” a value resort celebrating all things patriotic. “Disney’s South Seas Resort” Home of Lava Lagoon. “Disney’s Highland Lodge Resort and Spa” taking you to a Colorado Ski lodge. “Disney’s Mainland Harbor Resort” taking you to a New England fishing village, and featuring a Marina for summer water sports. And finally “Disney’s Golden Hollywood Resort, and The Family Suites at Disney’s Golden Hollywood Resort”

Because of Chicago’s Climate, the hotels are all attractions in and of themselves featuring indoor activities that can please families all year long. But more on those later. Let’s start off With Disneyland- International!

Disneyland-International was a challenge. Why? Because the original Disneyland was dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America, and Disneyland International is going to be on the same property as a park that celebrates American History, and looks toward the future of our great country. That meant that we wouldn’t be using a Frontierland, Liberty Square, or New Orleans Square, as we planned to use those themes in the America park. So Disneyland International get’s a little bit of flavor borrowed from EPCOT in Florida, hence the name. But we’ll see how that comes into play later. Because just like every Magic Kingdom style park, Disneyland international begins with a stroll down Main Street U.S.A.

After passing through security and the turnstiles, you are greeted with a view similar to the other Magic Kingdoms, the Main Street Train Station with a Floral arrangement based on Mickey Mouse. And two paths to choose.

As you enter town square, it’s obvious that this park is going to be just a little bit different then the other two American parks, as the castle, which will most closely resemble Disneyland Paris’ castle, but without the hill on the side, is themed to Beauty and the Beast, rather then Cinderella, or Sleeping Beauty. I haven’t decided on a name yet, and have been battling between Chateau Belle, or Beauty and the Beast Castle, or something else entirely, I’m open to suggestions.

Speaking of, I could really use everyone’s feedback, this will be my first time I’ve actually sat down and written out my ideas for a Disney Resort, and there are parts of my idea that aren’t completely formed and set in stone yet, so please feedback is appreciated.

On your left, is of course Town Hall home of guest relations as well as other guest services such as stroller and wheelchair rental, package pickup, lost and found, etc… On the right is The Art of Disney Housed inside what looks a bit like a southern Plantation house, complete with a wraparound porch is the multi-story Art of Disney store, where you can purchase original prints, and other Disney art.

For the most part, Main Street USA at Disneyland International is pretty much the same as the others. Based on Marceline, Missouri, and featuring just a menagerie of Disney shops but there are some differences, I’ll outline. On the left side of the street is, of course The Emporium, selling an absolute plethora of Disney Merchandise. But after the Emporium there is a small side street which will feature Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress and Walt Disney’s Progressland, a small store selling Walt memorabilia, as well as kitchen wares. This version of the Carousel of Progress is more or less similar to the one in Florida with updated Audio Animatronics, and a completely different final scene (one that wasn’t reliant on Virtual Reality Helmets, haha). Continuing down the left side of Main Street you would find the Iwerks Picture Studio, which would sell various camera equipment, and photo album material, and also house photo pass, as well as a photo lab, sponsored by Kodak where guests can alter and print their pictures from the park. At the end of the main street on the left is The Crystal Palace Restaurant a restaurant with several sky lights and picture windows, and featuring a live pianist.

The right side of Main street would feature several shops and smaller food service locations. The first thing you’d encounter is Disney Family Sweets a classic by-the-pound candy store. Then Ink and Paint a stationary store, slyly named after an animation process. New Century Jewelry, featuring upscale jewelry, glass items, and even a glass blowing demonstration, would be connected to The D23 outlet a store selling D23 merchendise, as well as upscale more stylish clothing items. A second entrance to the D23 outlet would be down a second side street, which at the end would feature the Main Street Cinema which would house Walt Disney- One Man’s Dream with a museum section in the lobby, and an updated version of the DHS film in the main theater area. Both One Man’s Dream an the Carousel of Progress open a half hour after the park. Continuing down the right side would be The Lily Bell Ice Cream Parlour and finally The Plaza Restaurant.

At this point, you can cross a bridge and find yourself in the Hub, at the base of Chateau Belle (or whatever). The hub would be similar to WDW’s hub, as it would be surrounded by water, and feature a partners statue, but no stage in front of the castle, but rather two ramps on either side, and a staircase. From the hub there are five ways to go. From Right to left Tomorrowland, Critter Country, Fantasyland (Through the Castle), Discoveryland, and Adventureland.

Other things on Main Street are of course the Main Street Vehicles and a barbershop quartet. Main street would also feature a character show, where Mickey, Minnie, and other characters that could be rotated based on current promotions, or availability, would arrive on a pair of trolley’s before performing things like “The Trolley Song” “Right Down the Middle of Main Street” and other songs. It should also be noted that this version of main street is also a little bit further in time then the others, as it’s based a little bit more in the 20s, rather then the 00’s or the 10’s seen in the other US Main Streets.

Finally, and I’m still working on this, Main street would also be home to a Day Time Parade, and of course be a prime Viewing spot for the Nighttime Fireworks. I’m still developing both shows, but I’m drawing inspiration for the Fireworks from “Magic, Music and Mayhem, as I intend to set the castle on fire nightly, and inspiration for the parade from both “Parade of Dreams” and “Jubilation.” Stay tuned for more detailed descriptions of both shows later.

That takes care of main street. Coming up next, journey into Chateau Belle, into a world of Fantasy as I present my ideas for Fantasyland, featuring rides themed to famous Disney Animated Films such as "Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, and that's just the begining! Stay Tuned!

Very cool cant wait to see more, love the detail and thought put into Main Street. Is the castle the one from Disneyland Paris, if so it would be Le Chateu Belle de Dormieant, meaning THe Castle of the SLeeping Beauty. (just thought i would let you know)

Anyways great ideas cant wait to see more.

It wouldn't be an exact replica of le chateau belle au bois dormant (or however you spell it), but similar, and themed to Beauty and Beast rather than Sleeping Beauty, as she's already got a castle in the US in California.

Fantasyland
Stepping off Main Street USA into the hub, you can’t help but notice that this Disneyland seems a bit different. You can see Splash Mountain down the way to the right, rather then the left, and there’s no western style mountains on the left, but you think you can see flags from around the world…

But before we get to those sections, we’re going strait forward into the land that started it all. Fantasyland. Fantasyland is divided into three parts. This version of the central icon, Chateau Belle (that is, from Beauty and the Beast, not Sleeping Beauty) is also a massive show building, housing multiple attractions. So the first section of Fantasyland we’ll explore is inside Chateau Belle.

Inside Chateau Belle, you are asked to Be Our Guest at two spectacular Dining Experiences. Mrs. Potts Cupboard is the first thing you encounter on the right. Animatronics of Mrs. Potts and Chip flank the service counter, as the oven-chef babbles away in the background, continually refusing to be cooked on. On the left side is the massive restaurant The Enchanted Rose Dining Room which is exactly what it sounds like. For breakfast and lunch, The enchanted rose serves basic theme park faire, and hosts Princess Character meals, but for the evening seatings, the place is transformed. Candles reminiscent of Lumiere line the walls, and provide a romantic atmosphere, complimented by a single red rose on each table, The Enchanted Rose provides an amazing experience no matter what time of day you visit.

Just past the Enchanted Rose on the left is a small nook, taking you to a room of stained glass windows reminiscent of the windows from the prologue and finale of the Beauty and the Beast Movie, here you’ll find various Princess or Princess related character greets throughout the day. A sign out front of the queue would tell you what characters are greeting at what time. But the crown Jewel of Chateau Belle would be a dark ride that tells the Story of Beauty and the Beast. On the right side, past Mrs. Potts Cupboard is the entrance. I’ll get into the details later, but some features I would want to point out is that the ride will be inspired by the stained glass scenes at the beginning and end of the film. Highlights would be squirting water in the Be our Guest scene, cold wind in the wolf chase scene, and snow falling on the guests during Something There. Beauty and the Beast would totally immerse guests in the only Animated film ever to be nominated for best picture. I haven’t settled on a title yet, so for now it’s just Beauty and the Beast.

Stepping back into the sun, Guests step into Fantasy Plaza. Again, This fantasyland would not be a direct clone of any current fantasyland’s but would most likely resemble Paris’. The goal of the architecture in Fantasyland would not be to take you to any specific place (Like MK‘s fantasyland takes you to a medieval German village of sorts), but rather a hodge podge of Disney fantasy elements. You may notice lanterns in the trees with moving flickering lights that might be fairies, or see a wishing well with “I’m wishing” echoing from the bottom, maybe even see some pumpkin with a golden glow about them.

The first thing you see stepping out of the castle would be the Fairytale Carrousell. A beautiful carousel where guests can ride more then just classic hand-painted horses, but also dragons, tigers, lions, (bears oh my!), Griffons, and other fairytale creatures. In front of the Carousel would be a small platform where Characters such as the Fairy Godmother can make appearances throughout the day.

Flanking the Fairytale Carrousel would be two other classic cycle rides. On the right Dumbo the Flying Elephant and other left would be a clone of the new Silly Symphonies Swings debuting at DCA next year.
Fantasy plaza, for the most part, would be shaped like a funnel, getting wider as guests move inward, with two fantasy dark rides on either side. Peter Pan’s Flight on the left, and Pinnochio’s Daring Journey on the right. In and older draft, There were plans for a Pinnochio Themed Chute the Chutes, something that Walt was never able to get off the ground, that would end with a splash out of Monstro’s mouth, but unfortunately it was scrapped for two reasons, space, and also it was too much like Splash Mountain, the only reason it ever existed is in the original version of the resort, there was no Splash Mountain… Just a little bit of fun background I thought I would share about my process…Anyway, at the exit of Peter Pan’s Flight would be Tinker Bell’s Treasures, and at the exit to Pinnochio would be Sir Mickey’s. It is worth noting that Tinker Bell’s Treasures also serves as the entrance to Pixie Hallow a special greeting area with Tinkerbell and her fairy friends.

Of course, these aren’t the only rides in fantasyland. If you’re gaze wasn’t distracted by the carousel, then you may have glanced up and saw that situated directly behind the castle so you can’t see it until you enter fantasyland would be The Matterhorn- Yeti Adventure. This version of the Matterhorn would be a cross between the Matterhorn Bobsleds and Expedition Everest. It will be a family style coaster, but it will focus more on the Yeti, and the more frightening aspects seen in the Animal Kingdom coaster, without being quite as intense, however the trains would be longer and more like everests, rather then the small trains of the original Matterhorn.

Encircling the Matterhorn Mountain is Disneyland- International’s second railway. But this one is The Casey Jr. Storybook train. Casey Jr. hauls a group of guests sitting two by two into a storybook world, containing life sized scenes from several Disney films that don’t have their own dark ride. Casey Jr. would move at Dark Ride speed, and take riders past scenes like Mary Poppin’s Jolly Holiday, Bella Notte, Dumbo’s Circus, Sleeping Beauty’s spinning needle, Phil’s Obstacle course, and other famous scenes. Outside the ride would also be the 3 Rings Café a counter service restaurant under a circus tent. Also, Just past 3 rings would be a recreation of it’s a small world. featuring the outdoor portion, and full show building. On the other side of Fantasy Plaza, in the same building as Pinnochio you would find the Bella Notte Ristorante a counter service restaurant recreating the famous scene from Lady and the Tramp.

The final sub-land of Fantasyland is Wonderland a small Alice themed annex across from Bella Notte. Beside various wonderland music playing the background, if you pay close attention when walking through wonderland you’ll notice that some of the flowers have faces, that the birds of Tulgey wood may be looking down from the trees, and if you’re lucky you might notice a smile without a face…On the midway is The Mad Tea Party the classic Alice Themed tea cup ride. In the center of the small plaza would be a small character greeting platform, with a Cheshire cat shaped floral providing the backdrop. On the right side of the area would be Cabbages and Kings a small snack stand themed to the Walrus and the Carpenter Sequence. To the left would be Alice’s Curious Labryrinth a massive maze/playground combo recreating scenes from the movie, you should be weary though, the cards are on the march, and should you ask them for directions the red cards always lie… The Labyrinth would open up at points to show you a Giant-size Alice holding up a house, a caucus race, nobility playing croquet with flamingoes, or other wacky scenes. The crown jewel of wonderland would of course be Alice in Wonderland a dark ride similar to the one featured in Disneyland.

Topping off fantasyland would be a massive live entertainment offering, specifically Celebrate! A Street Party moving to Disney Nation-Chicago after Disneyland gets it’s 55th anniversary parade, Celebrate! A street party would take over Fantasyland several time daily. The street party would enter from wonderland, make a line that leads to small world, and perform it’s show stop before exiting next to small world. It would feature all the kit and kaboodle of the Disneyland version but not follow a parade route, and be more like a show then parade.

That’s it for Fantasyland, the happiest land in all of Disney Nation, so I’ll leave it up to you guys, or if no one responds I’ll decide myself. Shall we move to the right and enter Critter Country, or move to the right and enter Discoveryland, a land inspired by Epcot’s World Showcase?

WOW!! How well thought out! Something I'd do!

Main Street sounds really cool!! Nice references, and CoP well placed.

The Castle's really cool. I like the dining, but I feel as "cupboard" could do without the AAs of the Potts', and I tell you why: it's because The Enchanted Rose could be a REALLY cool place to do a dinner theatre. You could have Lumiere appear from the center fountain of the room (ala Tiki Room) and he could preform "Be Our Guest" right before desert! the walls would come alive; all the characters would emerge from hiding places all over the room, and the main characters could be wheeled around the room with those desert carts! The chandeliers could spin and light could shine all over the place!! Unless you want a more "sophisticated" dining experience, I think this'd be a really good way to go.

Fantasyland's awesome, love the "Celebration!" idea, It's all great! Just on Alice: Why not combine both the maze and the ride? Then you can have a nice, long ride and NOT repeat elements from either story. The solution? Either a trackless ride system or a button-pushing thing that can guide you to different passageways on the ride (like Horizon's button pushing for new destinations).

I LOVE your ideas! Please keep posting!

The idea behind "curious labyrinth" here is that it would be a totally immersive experiance, with cast members dressed like the cards that would interact with guests, and the ability to explore various set pieces created in full size and designed for kids to be able to climb on etc, with interactive elements maybe, like small fountains or other things like that.

Wheras the dark ride, which wouldn't be an exact clone of Disneyland's version but certainly borrow some elements, would be a passive, althought AA and visually heavy experiance.

On the other hand, I have been sitting here for a few minutes thinking of kind of an...outdoor dark ride. A version where you ride in a vehicle similar to Spider-Man at IOA, that can spin and react to things without being as clunky and jerky as an EMV. So the vehicle could turn down a path, realize it was a dead end (in the labyrinth), recoil, and turn around....Hm...

I like both ideas, so I'll continue to consider, and I'm all for new things, and not just copyin the other parks. Thank you very much for the feedback.

As far as The enchanted rose...I was originally going for a more sophisticated dinner experiance, with breakfast and lunch being more whimsical...but I can't help but love the idea of being totally immersed in Be Our Guest. (BatB is my favorite Disney Movie, Hence why the castle is themed that way haha). Definitely something to ponder.

From the Hub, Between Tomorrowland, on the right, and Fantasyland, through the castle, there lies Critter Country, taking you into the woods, home of so many of Disney’s Fairy Tales. Classic Folk Songs play in the background, as Owls Hoot, Birds Sing, Cricket’s chirp, and the sounds of nature surround you. Critter Country is divided into three sub-lands.

The 100 Acre Street
The Street between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, where your adventure in Critter Country Begins, is themed entirely to Winnie the Pooh. On the right is a showbuilding, housing attractions from Tomorrowland, but on this side you’ll find Pooh’s Thotful Shop Selling Winnie the Pooh, and other Disneyland Merchandise, and at the end of the street you may find The Hunny Pot a small snack stand.

On the left of the street is the real goodies, here, you’ll find two small playgrounds themed to Winnie the Pooh, Pooh’s Playful Spot Bigger then the Magic Kingdoms, but the same general Idea. Between the two playgrounds is an elevated stage, with a massive open storybook on it. This stage will be home to Heffalumps and Hunny Pots- Storytime with Pooh. A Live show with a new original story based on the Winnie the Pooh Franchise. The storybook itself would feature two massive LCD screens, to make it look like words and pictures, and even short movies are happening on the storybook, to enhance the story. Finally, at the end of the street on the left is The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh The Classic Dark Ride.

The Briar Patch
After making your way through the Hundred Acre Street, Critter Country takes you to your very own laughing place! A Small Plaza at the end of the Hundred Acre Street is home to Splash Mountain The classic Disney Attraction, featuring Magic Kingdom Size Logs, as well as The Laughing Place A store at the exit of the Attraction.

Camp Minnie-Mickey
This park’s iteration of a “Toontown”-Like area is a small subland, that essentially serves as a place where Guests can Meet Mickey, the Fab 5, and other characters throughout the day. Camp Minnie Mickey Would Feature The Swimming Hole A small snack stand. The Treehouse Restaurant A massive Multi-Story Restaurant, that takes place entirely in a treehouse. Camp Minnie-Mickey would also be home to The Character Cabins Wilderness Themed cabins where guests can meet various characters throughout the day. Between the Character Cabins is The Disneyland International Railway Critter Country Station.

I’ll hopefully be able to post a general floor plan of the park soon, to be able to help you guys understand the layout, critter country is the smallest section, but there’s also something about it that I like a lot. Again, as usual, if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please let me know!

When Disneyland opened, it was designed to take you to a world of Yesterday, Tomorrow, and Fantasy, and one of the most important elements of that was Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland has been problematic in every incarnation. Disneyland’s Tomorrowland was too realistic, and has faded to become retro, and dated. At WDW Tomorrowland has been replaced in many ways by Future World at EPCOT, which is why for the international parks, they began to branch out, with the retro-future of Discoveryland, and the unique tomorrowlands of the Asian Parks.

Several years ago, it was suggested that Tokyo’s Tomorrowland be transformed into Sci-Fi City, essentially abandoning the realistic vision of the future, this didn’t come to pass, but it would the jumping off point for the unique views of Chicago’s Tomorrowland.

This tomorrow land would be different then the others, and would essentially be a world of 50s sci-fi, inspired by the Sci-Fi city designs. This tomorrow land takes you to a fictional earth future, in which there are now human colonies on Mars, and the Moon, and contact has been made with alien life. This tomorrow land would show an Earth, just stepping into the Sci-Fi world, so while there are no Aliens around on earth, you get the feeling they’ve been here before.

The Architecture is very 1950s futuristic, a little bit cheese ball, but also totally believable, as if you can tell that every bit of flourish has a purpose. This tomorrow land also has a story of two dueling companies fighting for dominance in this new world of the future, and those two companies are Buy N’ Large, and X-S Tech. All of tomorrow land seems to be consumed by advertisements for various products and services offered by either company, and Several LCD screens around Club Cool (Which We’ll get to in a moment) constantly show advertisements for both companies.

So that’s the feeling of this land, and it is placed in the same place as the American Parks, so it’s the first bridge to the right at the hub. After crossing the bridge, you are immediately immersed in this world of Tomorrow. With massive buildings on either side of you, similar to WDWs. On the left, you’ll find the entrance to Buzz Lightyear’s Astroblasters, an interactive dark ride similar to Disneyland’s. Upon exiting the ride, you’ll enter The Pizza Planet Arcade which is exactly what it sounds like, and is part of a complex which has the arcade Pizza Planet Restaurant and a Toy Story Character Greeting Area as well.

The building to the left has a massive dome on top of it, and is The X-S Tech Building. Home of Blast Off! X-S Tech beat Buy N’ Large in this case, and is the first company to have commercial flights to both the moon, and Mars. In this case, riders line up for a trip to the first lunar Colony, Apollo City. The ride vehicles for Blast Off would be essentially a very large EMV, like the size of one Segment of Ellen Vehicles. Obviously because of it’s size it wouldn’t be nearly as violent, but the concept would be the same, a vehicle that can move, but would also be able to tilt in various directions based on what is seen by the riders. I’ll get into detail about the ride later, but it would be very exiting, and the bulk of it would take place inside the massive dome, which would have moving stars projected onto it, similar to space mountain, and each vehicle would also have a projected to be able to project something onto the stars. That way it would be totally immersive as wherever you looked there would be stars all around you, but also each car can be at a different point in the ride by having their own projector as well.

At the exit of Blast Off! Would be the X-S Tech Company Store selling various futuristic Merchandise.

As you continue down the street, you enter Rocket tower Plaza, similar to WDW’s, with the Astro Orbiter in the middle, a symbol of inter-planetary peace. Below the Astro-Orbiter would be Coca Cola Club Cool, an outdoor version of the Epcot classic. (with Beverly and All)

But here’s the big difference. On the right, (Where the Carousel of Progress is at WDW) would be a massive recreation of the Axiom, seen in Disney/Pixar’s WALL-E. The Axiom would be massive, and feature several things inside, not unlike an EPCOT pavillion. Outside the Axiom would be several banners, signs and moving advertisements for BNL and several BNL products, and cryptically hint at the future seen in the movie. Once you step into the Axiom, you can’t help but be swept away by BNL fever. The main floor of the pavillion would be covered in various kiosks where you can try BNL technology, using similar things as many of the EPCOT post-shows, imagination, mission space, innovnetions, etc. On your right would be signs for the Lido Deck, which would house a large movie theatre, home to a short presentation about Disneynature’s EARTH. A Live Host, narrates the show, and provides pre-show entertainment in his BNL finest.
On the left side of the pavillion would be a small WALL-E Greeting Area, where guests can take photos with the loveable robot. It would be a living character to an extent, but not the same one seen on the streets of cities to promote the film. This one can’t roll, but can move it’s arms and head, to eliminate the hazards of accidentally rolling over someone’s feet.
But the main attraction of this pavillion would be The Wall-E Symposium. Outside the attraction entrance it seems out favorite rogue robots have gotten into some mischief. A Sign that used to bead “The Buy N’ Large Symposium” has been covered up by M-O who seems to be in the process of hanging up a sign. Inside, The Wall-E Symposium would feature the same vehicles as Journey into Imagination, with each stop beginning to show off a fancy new Buy N’ Large Product, only to be interrupted by an animatronic Wall-E trying to play with the items, or using them for unexpected things. The finale of the ride would be a message about what is seen in the film, and how we must use technology responsibly. Again, I’ll get into more details later.

The back of the Axiom Pavilion would feature the Starliner Café, a large cafeteria style restaurant, with a very large “Glass” dome, designed to make it look like you are dining in outer space.

Of Course Tomorrowland would not be complete without two of it’s staples. Space Mountain Similar to Disneylands, and Autopia. Autopia would feature a very heavily themed Electric car-trip across the Moon. Allowing riders to navigate lunar craters, the sea of tranquility, and Apollo City, the same destination as Blast Off.

One Special Feature of Tomorrowland would be the midways. They would all be made with a material normally reserved for playgrounds, a spongy rubber essentially, designed to make you feel a little off, and further engage you in the world of the future.

So that’s my Tomorrowland, I’m especially excited to do some more work on the Axiom area. But that’s it for now, I think Discoveryland will be next, and I’ll hopefully have some floor plans for you guys soon!
Again any questions, suggestions, etc, are welcome!

Great Idea! I really like how you got the two companies to act as rivals while trying to absorb you in. It is a shame all of the Tomorrowland's don't follow a storyline.

I totally forgot about the Tomorrowland People Mover. Whose boarding platform would be placed below The Astro Orbiter, the same as WDWs. This version, however, would take you through the world of transportation. Of course it would take you through the various Tomorrowland Icons, but also on the second story of many of the buildings you will find scenes depicting the evolution of Transportation, and it would ver narrated by a famous actor/Actress. Any suggestions for a Narrator anyone?

Narrators, I have no idea, but your Tomorrowland... it's wonderful! I really really love it. I'm just a little iffy on the "Disney earth" film in BnL. I doubt that BnL would set up enviromental messages while they trash the world! What irony. The rest is REALLY great and amazing. Also, nice Critter Country. Nice move on Camp Minnie-Mickey. I'm kinda getting sick of Toontown.

I just kind of Threw EARTH in there. I'd heard a rumor that A short theme-parked version of EARTH would be taking over Circle of Life at the Land Pavillion at Epcot, and thought, hey, if this does come true, what a great money saving opportunity to get an extra quality attraction. So the theatre itself would just "happen" to be owned by BNL. But I agree that it is squeezed in there. That's one of those things that I can see changing in later versions, but I'm happy with it for the moment.

On the other hand, if being environmental is polically correct now, it seems to be that it will continue to be, and companies will continue to be patted on the back for saying they are "environmental" so it could be a nice little dose of Irony, and add to the dueling corporations story, or it could just be a plot hole. You decide. ;-)

Looking at that list of Attractions, it’s hard to find a unifying theme, because, quite frankly, there’s not one. Discoveryland allows you to step foot on the world stage, and explore different countries from around the world in a long street of shopping, dining and attractions heavily themed to countries around the world. Discoveryland is a very large area, and essentially takes the place of Frontierland/Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom, as those themes will be used for Disney’s American Adventure, which will be coming soon.

We’re going to start from Fantasyland and move toward adventureland.
The transition between Fantasyland and Discoveryland is an appropriate one, as “it’s a small world” is at the far end of the fantasyland thoroughfare, transitioning into a mini world-showcase. The first sub-land you encounter is Mexico featuring a similar pyramid to Epcot’s. Inside the pyramid is Artisans a store selling unique hand-crafted merchandise direct from Mexico. Artisans will also feature an area where you can watch a group of woodworkers hand-craft some of the items seen in the store. The Yucatan Chocolaterie is in the other half of the pyramid, and feautres chocolate and chocolate items inspired by the Aztec and Mayas use of the Cocoa Bean. The main room inside the pyramid features a greeting area for the three caballeros, as well as unique exhibits regarding Mexican History. Mexico would also feature a small dining area. The Laguna Canteen on the water, serving what else, but Mexican Food.

Outside the Pyramid, there is a large river, with an island in the center, similar to the rivers of America at WDW and Disneyland, but this is rather the rivers of the World, and features Discovery Island in the center. In Mexico, you’ll find a boat launch taking you there. Discovery Island is a massive play land, themed to the wonders of nature, where kids of all ages can explore underground caves, dodge waterfalls, climb treehouses, and so much more. Discovery Island’s real draw however will be an interactive attraction based on Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure technology themed to National Treasure. Help Ben Gates find the biggest treasure of the all, hidden somewhere in the depths of the island.

The second Sub-Land you would encounter is the one directly connected to the center hub, and the second bridge on the left. And that is World Plaza! Flags from Various Countries line the Rivers of the World Here. The Architecture of World Plaza is very much Stainless Steel based, and inspired by the old “Tapestry” parades at Epcot. World Plaza would feature the E-Ticket Attraction “Soarin’” Only this one doesn’t take you over California. Soarin’ takes you on a magical journey of flight, over some of the greatest wonders of the world. With Soarin’ (over the World) you can experience the Great Wall of China, The Pyramids at Giza, The Sydney Opera House, and other places that everyone dreams of Seeing. World Plaza would alos feature an ecclectic shopping center Timeless.

Continuing down the road, the next sub-land you’ll find is Morocco. This version of Morocco seems to be taken over by Disney’s Aladdin, as it will be home to The Agrabah Bazaar an outdoor shopping center with various street characters comically desperate to sell their merchandise. It would also feature a Character Greeting Area, home to Aladdin and Jasmine, and the biggest draw Aladdin and the Cave of Wonders A fantasy-adventure dark ride, where guests join in on a magic Carpet Ride above the streets of Agrabah, before plunging down into the Cave of wonders with no chance to escape, unless that crazy genie shows up to save the day. This ride will not follow the events of the film, so much as consist of our guests enjoying a magic carpet ride thorugh scenes from the film.

Up next is China. China is the largest of the sub-lands (which I am pointedly not calling pavilions) and features The Jade Dragon Restaurant Serving Classical Chinese cuisine in a setting reminiscent of Red Square, with similar Oriental designs. It also features Reflections of China a Clone of the circle vision show at EPCOT. I have always been fascinated by Circlevision, I think it’s a great system and is underused, I’m sure it’s very hard to produce circle vision films, but I’ve always thought that the end result is spectacular, and something to sing about. China will also feature a Mulan Character Greeting Area.

Contrary to China, France is the smallest of the Sub-Lands and features only one attraction La Danse de Nations. The small plaza features Parisian architecture, and features several small platforms and stages that allows guests to be completely surrounded by this show, which I would view as a sequal to “Tapestry of Nations” Hosted by Mother Earth, representatives from nations around the world come together “on this day” to celebrate unity and peace. It’s a veritable street party of fun and excitement and it takes over France several times daily. When not performing, the platforms and show areas are used as Character Greeting Areas.

Next up is Germany, another small Sub-Land that would feature a smaller version of the railway garden along the Rivers of the World, and then a large Biergarten. A true garden, this would be a beautifully lit area, and will be a joy to walk past at night.

This is getting a bit repetitive I know so Please bare with me as we travel to Italy. Italy Serves as the border between Adventureland and Discoveryland, and features a small coffee shop La Tazzina Grande, Serving traditional Italian coffees, as well as a large indoor full-service restaurant Ristorante Cortesia. And upscale Italian restaurant that should hopefully please anyone’s pallate.

The final area is England. England is essentially located where Big Thunder Mountain is located in WDW. England is a large area and features several small touches. A small side street across from the river features several small shopping and dining locations. Including The Crown and Crest Store, The Royal Tea Company and Finally Terrier’s Pub. Ironically Terrier’s Pub is dry, but provides a fun an exciting atmosphere for guests of all ages, including meet n’ greet appearances by various Disney Dogs like Pluto, Bolt, and others. Past the small street is a beautiful English Garden, a very traditional space, with walls, and neatly trimmed shrubs etc. Inside the Garden Mary Poppins and Bert would make appearances daily.

But looming above the Garden is The Haunted Mansion, continuing the tradition of being in a different land every time a new Disneyland is built. This Haunted Mansion obviously takes place in Europe, and takes place inside the remnants of an age-old estate. Gothic towers and spires give a very traditional feel, but also seem long forgotten and left to rot in time. I’ll flesh this more out later, but suffice it to say that this will be an absolute state of the art E-Ticket, and feature a different basic plot then the other American Mansions.

The Biggest Draw to the land however would be Disney’s World of Color, a “sequal” to the version going in at DCA, with some different segments etc, taking place much in the same way that fantastic happens at Disney, with action in both the rivers of the world, as well as on Discovery Island across the way. Stadium Seating lines the river from World Plaza all the way to England, and a large midway provides standing room as well. Disney’s World of Color will provide an amazing end to an amazing day, and will be performed at Least once a night most nights, to compliment a nighttime fireworks show in the park as well. Just as a side note, there will be no nighttime parade at this park.

Uhm…Yeah, so that’s Discoveryland. I’m pretty happy with it, because I think it’s going to give the park a very different atmosphere and Identity then the others, especially because these really aren’t supposed to be Recreations of the countries they represent, but rather each sub-land is supposed to celebrate each culture and identity. The lines between sub-lands would also be very ill-defined, they aren’t supposed to be separate areas, but all combine rather to make Discoveryland.

This is however, also the area that I can see changing the most as I continue to flesh it out. I think I like it as is, but there are also a lot of things I would like to change/add, etc… Please give me your input on this land which I think is just crucial to the park.

PS- I use the term Sequal a few times in here I think, and really what I mean when I say that is an attraction is inspired by the other, and may feature some story/visual elements from that attraction but would have a distinct flavor all it's own as well, just for clarification.

Hmm..So Literally since I posted that just a few minutes ago, I really thought of how to get across that this Discoveryland is one land and not several pavillions, and that will, essentially be a unifying color sceme.

Inspired by the Golds seen in Paris' Discoveryland (tomorrowland) World Plaza would essentially be Gold from head to toe. Soarin' Timeless, instead of being the sleek stainless steel I planned, would be gold and Green. All very curved, a little bit futuristic looking and still very sleek, but gold and green instead of stainless steel. The Gold and Green would continue into the other pavillions, with trim and various accent colors being The Same Golds and Greens seen in the plaza, but only to accent the country's architecture featured in the land.

The goal of the land is the bring countries together, not separate them.

Coming up: Adventure takes center stage on this new version of an old favorite. Here at Disney Nation Chicago, we are using the great opportunity of a third US park to learn from the mistakes of the past, as well as bringing in new experiances to our guests, and experiances from some of our world class parks overseas that will be a first for an American Audiance. Adventure is such an important part of the Disney Experiance, that our adventureland just can't let people down, and with a Brand New E-Ticket Roller Coaster exclusive to Chicago, we promise not to dissapoint.

And Later, take a journey through the histories and experiances of some of the most amazing cities of the world, as we present a unique view of Disney's Grand European Resort, our Flagship resort here at Disney Nation- Chicago.

VERY nice marriage of countries, and a very nice mixture at that. A little odd in the MK, as the countries may take people out of that "Mythical" state of mind, but it's a GREAT land. I can picture the mini-pavilions and everything!

That's why I'm still tweaking in, I'll most likely lose reflections of China, the idea really came from Agrabah, I really want to add more Disney Flavor in it, especially because It's in the MK. I love England and Mexico, and am Happy with those two areas, but everything else essntially is likely to change.

Hey Guys! I’m back after all this time with some serious changes to the resort!

The Bulk of the Resort has remained the same with Three parks “Disneyland North” “Disney’s American Adventure Park” And “Disney’s Legendary Kingdom” Eight Hotels Outdoor and Indoor Entertainment districts and so much more!

The Bulk of what I’ve been focusing on has been redoing Areas of the Disneyland style park so let’s get down to it.

Main Street has remained essentially the same as draft 1, with a few things much more fleshed out, notably “Tonight…You’ll believe in Magic!” A spectacular show-stopping Nighttime Fireworks Show in the skies above Belle’s Enchanted Castle (The Name I’ve settled on for the Castle)

Tonight!…You’ll believe in Magic! Is hosted by Lumiere as he takes guests on a magical Journey through the magic worlds of Disney. The theme of the show is a choral/orchestral version of “Bella Notte” And weaves itself throughout the show.

It begins with an epic version of “A whole new world” as lights and music focus everyone’s attention toward the enchanted castle. Lumiere welcomes guests to the show, tells them that this is the night they’ll believe in Magic, and Bella Notte Takes over. A Beautiful version of the song plays as the first effects take the night skies.

It get’s quiet for a moment before transitioning into The Mary Poppins Segment. Chim Chim Cher-Ee greets you into this segment and Mary Poppins Herself attempts to convince you to believe in Magic, before a huge upbeat version of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious plays, followed by a magical and slow rendition of “Let’s go Fly a Kite.”

It’s Alice’s Voice that breaks the silence as she proclaims how wonderful and magical it is! But it’s the Mad Hatter who suggests that we “change the subject!” and transitions us into a huge upbeat version of the Unbirthday song! Guests are overwhelmed by this melody before taking us down a notch into a hugely epic and orchestral version of the Theme from Alice in Wonderland.

Once again a new Character voice break the silence as Sebastian Announces the Arrival of King Triton! Who in turn tells Sebastian that it’s time to paint a portrait of Magic and Adventure from Under the Sea. Sebastian Obliges with Magical Renditions of Under the Sea, and Part of Your World.

Wendy and Peter Pan are enjoying themselves so much that they almost forgot that it’s their turn. Wendy tells Peter that it’s made her think of the Mermaid Lagoon, and the beautiful moon over Neverland, and Peter Reminds her she can visit whenever she wants as we transition into “You can Fly!” Followed by “The Second Star to the Right.”

But the sneaky Captain Hook seems to be listening as well, and he and Mister Smee decide that it’s all too much for them and it’s time to bring everyone down a notch. And they do so by using their entire pirate force to take down the Enchanted Castle. As the epic themes from “Pirates of the Caribbean” Play, the Castle is Litterally Set on Fire and Smoke fills the air. This serves as the transition then into a villainous segment brought on by Maleficent, She brings us into the darkness with “Night on Bald Mountain” and “Hellfire.”

But Enough is Enough King Triton Uses the power of the ocean to put out the fire, banishing Malificent, and Peter Pan calls on his good friend Tic Toc to rid them of the Captain. Belle and Beast are thankful for their help, but what to do now that the castle has been set a flame? It’s tinkerbell and her magic that reignites the lights on the castle and restores the Magic.

This transitions us into a final Disney Princess Montage with “So This is Love,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Once Upon a Dream.”

Lumiere Shows Up once again to thank everyone, and tells them that if this hasn’t conviced them that there’s magic all around us they have one final treat! And the show finales with a Mash-Up of the Main theme from Ratatouille And Bella Notte.

That’s All for Now. I’ll be back soon with Redone Versions of Fantasyland, Discoveryland, and hopefully finally get to Adventureland.

See ya real soon!
