Today I went to Six Flags Great Adventure and while waiting in line for a ride they started playing DISNEY MUSIC!!

I heard...
Under the Sea
Be our Guest
Mickey Mouse March

The songs were all instrumental, but they were Disney every single note.

I would assume that Six Flags pays royalties to BMI and ASCAP and therefore are able to play any music licensed by these two companies.
Don't worry, Disney's getting paid and what better way to make people wish they were at WDW rather than Six Flags

an american chain of theme parks.. They are the McDonald's of the theme park world... there's one everywhere, and I don't want them anywhere. Magic Mountain is the ONLY good 6 flags park, IMO

Actually, there are 3 Six Flags parks that are "good." :

Six Flags Magic Mountain (California)
Six Flags Great Adventure (New Jersey)
Six Flags Great America (Chicago, Illinois)

'Okay' Six Flags Parks:

Six Flags Over Georgia
Six Flags Worlds of Adventure

The rest of the parks are not very high quality, from what I hear.

Let me step in here...Six Flags can play any type of Disney Related song that they want. To avoid legal issues with Disney, they must change a few tones, notes, or sounds in the song and they can avoid the songs copyright......so thats why you hear "When You Wish Upon A Star" on the radio and it is not a disney singer.

I assume that every one of you who is rating the Six Flags parks must have visited each of them and spent enough time there to reach a good conclusion. If not, then don't act like you have. Six Flags New England is a decent park. It isn't anything close to WDW, but no one really expects it to be. It is just a nice, local amusement park. And on the issue of music, you can play whatever you want, whenever you want as long as you pay royalties or have recieved permission. We have a local station here in Boston that plays Disney music all the time. And I am sure Disney has no real problem with Six Flags playing Disney music. Why would they? All it amounts to is making people think of Disney while they are another park. Some of you guys get all bent out of shape over the stupidest little things. Take a chill pill.

Okay Smitty, its not Disney's problem that 6flags has to copy and use Disney's music just becuase they cant make thier own....which shows that 6 flags is cheap

OK, do you really think Six Flags played Disney music to trick people into thinking they were at a Disney park?!? I DOUBT IT. They played Disney music because most people know the songs and enjoy hearing them.

I never said they were trying to trick people in to thinking they were at WDW, so I hope that wasn't directed to me. I just said that if they want to play Disney music and make people think of Disney at their park, then good for them. It isn't that big of a deal. Why does anyone care anyway? Who is it hurting?

Children, children, let's not have this degenerate into a pie-flinging contest or anything equally nasty.

Here's something to chew on: Disney World has the good fortune of being affiliated with one of the most comprehensive entertainment empires on the planet; the folks who handle musical programming throughout the parks basically only have to decide WHICH award-winning/beloved/universally recognized Disney tune to play at any given time.

The folks at Six Flags aren't so fortunate; yes, they have the affiliation with Warner Bros., but you can only play the Looney Tunes/Superman/Batman themes so many times, so the people who handle programming have to work a bit harder. If they want to play Disney tunes which the vast majority of their guests will recognize and enjoy, then why should they be criticized, provided they provide the requisite royalties to Eisner and Co.? Six Flags simply doesn't have a behemoth movie and music affiliate to fall back on, unlike the Disney folks, so give them credit for doing what they do. Not everyone in the country has the time or money to take a trip to Florida and California, so why criticize someone for trying to partially fill the gap. For those of us who love Disney World, Six Flags won't ever be the same, but to dismiss them completely seems rather narrow-minded.
