*peals of thunder, ominous music*

A popular Disney character gone bad.
A group of unsuspecting guests at a theme park.
A detective hot on the trail of the killer...

Would anyone be interested in playing a murder mystery game that takes place in a Disney setting?
If so, select your favorite Disney character. Join the game! One character will be picked to play the killer. From a minimum of ten people, two detectives will be selected. Clues will be provided with each murder. It's up to the detectives to rule out potential suspects, and find the killer before he/she strikes again!

I am willing to start the first game on May 1st, depending on how many people would like to sign up here.

The basics: your character has been invited to spend the day at a popular Disney destination or movie location. After the guests mingle, I will select the killer and detectives, and the first murder will take place three days later. Every three days a guest will be killed in an interesting way, leaving a clue to the killer's identity behind. The game will continue until either the killer is caught, or both detectives are killed off.
It's like Clue, only with Disney characters.

The killer's job: PM the victim and the person running the game (moi!).

The location of each game will be voted on by interested parties. I will be running the first game, but the next game will be run by whomever volunteers.

If your character has been killed off, don't fret: you can join the next game with a different character. After five games, the "dead" character can be played again by anyone interested. If your character survives, you can play them in subsequent games.

Please let me know by April 30th whether you are interested and if so, the character you would like to play, as well as a back-up in case someone has already selected him/her/it. Any Disney TV show, ride or movie is acceptable, so let the games begin!

Sounds fun! Can I be Donald?

Oh and May 1st sounds good, although I will probably be busy that week because of finals (last one is May 8th).

Otherwise... count me in!

Of course I'm in. I love this game. I will by my all-time favorite: Cheshire Cat!!!:D

Edit: And don't worry, I've run these a couple of times myself, so if she misses anything with the ground rules, I'll make sure we've got everything covered before the start of the game.

The first couple of days are a chance for the characters to mingle with each other and interact.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to the location of the game?

A parade? Character meet and greet? A BBQ over at the Poly?

Usually by locations, the idea is something like the following -

Real World Locations: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, etc...

Disney Locations: Atlantica, Pride Rock, Kuzco's Palace, Beast's Castle, etc...

You want to have a location that has more than one room generally, that way the murders can occur in a room that no one is in at the time, making it a little more fun than having someone suddenly drop in the middle of a room and the killer should have been noticed. Also, once a murder has happened, another cannot happen until either an arrest attempt has been made or three days have passed, whichever comes first. False arrests will be announced, but the falsely accused not revealed and players can choose to vote for new detectives after the second false arrest(if it gets that far, and it has when we've played before). If a vote is decided on, then the next murder cannot occur until the new detectives are decided. WARNING: Choosing new detectives can be hazardous to your investigation... you may elect the murderer(s) as the new detective(s)!!!

A new game :sohappy: (new to me at least) Count me in.

I see we have Donald, Mickey, Goofy, and Minnie, so I'll complete the fab 5 and be Pluto (can I be a dog? ).

Communication might be a bit limited, but you can use barks and growls (then put the translation in parenthesis)

Suggestions: (I'll update this list as we go.)

a character breakfast at Cinderella's Castle
the Polynesian
Toontown
I'm liking the Toontown idea because of all the little houses around. Good idea for a location

Maybe it will make it more challenging :D :drevil:

So far, that's more what I'm leaning towards. It can be part of a theme park, or a home from a movie. The point is to get creative and have fun. Sometime this weekend, we can vote on the location. I'd like to see a few more ideas tossed around first, though. :D

I always liked having it at Epcot, but when we played this on another board, it eventually became just using movie locations since at least half the people on that board had never actually been to WDW, so they didn't enjoy Theme Park locations as much.

Possibilities:
Beast's Castle
Port Royale
Epcot
Magic Kingdom
Sleeping Beauty's Castle

Time for other people to toss out their suggestions :sohappy:
