hey all, I need help! My HH and I are planning a belated honeymoon to WDW next year and we need help trip tricks what to do when and how to have special Disney moments. We are going without kids and not silly there are going to be 1000's there but we would like some not so kid ideas. Also were tossing up between a value resort and moderate. We're thinking pop and PO riverside. What people's thoughts on this is it worth the extra money? Are we better off stay somewhere off property

My order of preference would be PO Riverside, then Pop Century, then offsite. Personally I'd say the cost of the upgrade to PO over the other options is well worth it and would be great for a honeymoon.

In terms of things to do: book some restaurants you'd like to eat at and look at some activities outside the parks. I like renting a boat from WL for example as its a nice way to spend some time alone.

Remember to tell a cast member it's you're honeymoon (or mention it when you check in). You'll get a badge and you'll be surprised at all the nice things you get / experience because of it!

Whatever happens, you'll have a great time!

Congrats! My wife and I also took a belated honeymoon to WDW. We stayed at Pop because we were very short on cash at the time but wanted to spend time in the World. Now we both have better jobs and more steady income so if we were planning it now we'd probably go with POR. We still had a really great time at Pop; whether it's worth it or not to upgrade comes down to how much time you're going to spend in the room/at the resort.

Definitely call to note your honeymoon on your reservation (or tell them when you make the reservation if you do it over the phone). The front desk should have buttons waiting for you, you'll probably be placed in a more secluded room for privacy, and you might even get an upgrade or in-room surprise.

Definitely book some nice ADRs outside of the parks. I love California Grill and we are trying Jiko this trip. I've also heard great things about Narcoossee's, Citricos, and of course Victoria and Albert's if your budget can handle it (this one is on my Disney bucket list but I don't see it happening for several years!). Sanaa is also a nice choice and you can see the animals outside during lunch.

If you are into tours, there are choices ranging widely in time commitment and budget. We liked the Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot and it costs around $20/person. Some of the tours specifically have a minimum age so you will be with mostly adults.

I always like resort hopping on WDW trips. You can visit the deluxe resorts (and others mods) to eat, shop, look around, and dream about where you'd like to stay on future trips.

Are you drinkers? It can be fun to drink around the world and around the monorail. There are also events like the Jiko wine tasting (haven't done it yet but hoping to soon!) that will definitely be adults only. I also liked the Illuminations Sparkling Dessert Party to have a great view of the fireworks as well as unlimited sparkling wine and desserts.

Whatever you choose, have an amazing time!! There are so many choices!

Thanks for the info, has anyone ever been to the cirques de sol or how ever you spell it? Is it worth the money I've been in Las Vagas but HH never been?. Also were thinking 6 days at WDW is this enough or to long my HH enjoys Disney but is not crazy like me!

Yes I've been, but not for almost 10 years now! Might go again next year though as we'll be taking a trip with the whole family.

I've also been to around 4 Cirque shows in Las Vegas and I'd say La Nouba (the one in WDW) is among the best. It's full of energy and very entertaining.

We got lucky during a quiet time of year, so bought tickets whilst we were at WDW but I'd recommend you buy in advance. The seats we got we're pretty much the cheapest you could get (the only ones that were left), but we still had a good view and as with many cirque shows, I wouldn't suggest you spend a lot getting the "best" tickets.

We spend (I think) 12 days there for our honeymoon (on site, most of the time in Disney), and the year before spent 14 days in Orlando (offsite with about a 50/50 split between Disney and various other parks / attractions). So in my opinion 6 days is certainly not too long ;-) If you are worried about getting bored then just look at doing a few things outside WDW, or consider some activities in WDW but aren't within the parks.

I've never been to Cirque du soleil but I know every show is different so the Disney one isn't the same as Vegas.

Length of stay depends on how much you want to do, how much time you want to spend in each park, how much time you want to relax, etc. Our longest trip is usually 6 days/5 nights but we also grew up in Florida and have been to Disney hundreds of times, so we don't try to do everything and we are relatively sure we'll be back. For first-timers or guests who will only go a few times in their lifetime the longer the better. If you go for less time and try to visit every park you'll end up very tired and feeling rushed, in my opinion.

Pop honeymooners unite! We enjoyed the idea of saving, especially since we didn't spend much time at the resort except for sleeping. However, if that's not your style, the few hundred dollar upgrade is worth considering, especially for such a pretty location.

I've also seen La Nouba and a few other Cirque shows and it was hands down my favorite of them all. A perfect splurge to make your Disneymoon extra special. I believe in extra entertainment like that - more unique than a fireworks cruise or something like that that you can experience in the parks for the price of admission. Even though it's not 'exclusive', we always feel like it's just the two of us and the sky as we watch Wishes or Illuminations.

Please excuse my ignorance( I'm "old")I don't know what HH is (assuming your significant other)but if they are not crazy about Disney, like you,I would suggest POR over pop,I have never stayed at pop but having driven thru on DME I think POR is going to be more romantic for you and less "Disney". The resort is lovely, you can take a carriage ride around,a boat to DS and just walking around the resort is pleasant. But that really depends on if you plan on any time at your resort,if you are going to do the parks commando style,and by that I mean intensely (I would really rather not know if you plan to wear underwear or not)then stay at pop and save money.

Hi there, Congratulations! Honeymoons at Disney are so special! I think Port Orleans is a good idea. Something special for a special trip. You can rent surrey bikes and stroll the grounds - they are lovely! There are also horse drawn carriage rides! In addition, they have movies and campfires. At that is just at Port Orleans! I hope this helps! Have a magical honeymoon!

POR is wonderfully for honeymooners! DH and I actually stayed there on ours last year! It's quieter than the values and wonderfully themed!
I've also seen Cirque three times, and loved it each time! I saw it once as a child and loved it so much I begged for the DVD. I think it's still at my grandmothers! I would recommend seeing it!
They also have carriage rides at POR, which could be nice and relaxing! And I like the idea of a fireworks crusie or party.

We honeymooned at POFQ, found it to be a more intimate resort because of the size as well as less kids. I would also recommend the behind the seeds tour at EPCOT.

Some of the other more adult things we did, spent a lazy day at Downtown Disney and saw a movie and dinner at the AMC there.
We also resort hopped to check out the décor for future stays.
