Disney Meal Plan Questions

Hey Everyone,

Just want to say thanks again for all the great people here that for no other reason then being Disney Fans, are so helpful.

Question: We (my family) will be in Disney World Oct 29th through Nov 6th. We chose the Meal plan package. I see on ebay people are selling the "Counter Service" vouchers, but not the "Table Service" or "Restaurant Vouchers"

Are there paper vouchers for the table service, or are they tallied on your guest card? That seems to be the only reason I can figure.

Also as the time gets closer to us leaving (28 days!!!!) If anyone has any pic requests I would more than happy to take a few. I already plan on taking a bunch of Port Orleans pics since there just doesn't seem to be enough of my FAVORITE resort.

Thanks Again, Tom

Welcome!

All of your "credits" are listed on each reciept you recieve at the meal's end. Sometimes they give you a copy of the "monetary value" reciept with the number of credits you have left; other times, they give you the copy with a lotta zero's on it! You can request the monetary copy if you want to find out how much you're saving.

At the end of your credits (a receipt, for example, would say "0 CTR SRV/TBL SRV/SNCKS LEFT"), they give you a tally on a few papers. If you didn't want to keep track of how much you saved, the total is on there.

P.S. We saved a total of $1560.01!
P.S.S. Glad you're staying at Port Orleans!

I think the eBay vouchers are something else that you don't want. I believe I saw on other threads here that sometimes corporate accounts or conventions will issue counter service vouchers. For example, a convention may include a day at Disney with a meal voucher. What you see on eBay are people trying to sell these. But they are non-transferable (I think) and may even have an expiry date or something.

Meal vouchers are an entirely different thing than the dining plan. As Dandaman said, the dining plan is all on your room key and you will get a tally of your balance at each meal, regardless of the type.

Enjoy your visit! Wish I were going!

We always try to take a meal plan when we are in WDW. This trip (8/05) we took the dining plan with 1 snack, 1 Counter Service and 1 Table Service. It was more then enough food for our family and we saved about $1,400. The plan added $1,100 to our package (8 nights) and we spent about $2,500 on food.

Unfortunately we couldn't take advantage of the free meal plan (offered for those traveling between 8/21 and sometime in Oct.)

In the past, the Vouchers were transferable and had no expiration date. Last time I was there my dad picked up two on eBay for $13 each and we had fun seeing who could get the most "mileage" out of them. Although I was able to get a $23 lunch at the Yakitori house (Japan at Epcot) (Udon, sushi, cake, tea, shrimp, etc.) my dad beat me by a couple dollars by getting a burger, shake, and giant sunday at Beaches and Cream (C Beach resort). Interestingly, the Kitchen Sink is the one thing you can't use the vouchers for. That and alchol, of course.

Nah, keep it here.

More exposure here.
These are the kinds of experiences I'm looking for with less than 18 hours before we head to WDW on the dining plan. Besides, isn't all this information along the lines of trip planning when you think about it?

C'mon dining plan users, please post your experiences on out of the ordinary things besides popcorn, soda, ice cream bar or piece of fruit used on the dining plan, especially snacks and dessert. Yum.
