We really don't know how more effective than nothing they are?
You know what is effective?
Actually, NIST did a detailed study on the effectiveness of masks. It is more using machines than people, but you might find it interesting. (Mind, I didn't read this particular article, but I know for certain there were other write-ups on the research that was done. I like the video on this one which comes directly from NIST. )

They’re not requiring proof to go onto the ship. They’re saying that if you voluntarily show your card you don’t have to pay proactive fees (I think) and can go in certain designated areas.
That's the point. They are being treated differently for not showing proof. As far as I understand any business in FL can do the same as long as they are not bening denied entry which is what was being discussed. To clarify I am refuting asking for proof as the issue here. They can ask proof. You can say no, but you may not get same outcomes.

The difference is "asking" not requiring.

Cruise ships don't do that much while they are embarking. Casinos aren't open. Many, maybe most, of the reductions applicable to unvaccinated passengers aren't in effect until the ship departs.

FL may have issues trying to regulate cruise policies after the ship departs.

Exactly, here is the relevant section of the Florida law. A business cannot deny a service or entry based on vaccination status, but this leaves to door open to applying the vaccination status in other ways, like charging more if you are not vaccinated.

"A business entity, as defined in s. 768.38 to include 1123 any business operating in this state, may not require patrons or 1124 customers to provide any documentation certifying COVID-19 1125 vaccination or post-infection recovery to gain access to, entry 1126 upon, or service from the business operations in this state."
They aren't, they are saying if you don't show your vaccination, you have to test before and during the cruise at your own expense.

First I needed to check if I was blocked from this thread... oh Good I was not censored. Well the day is young.

If WDW requires masks and you don't want to wear a mask, don't go OR accept the change and go.

As a WDW fan, this is ALL WE DO! Things constantly change at WDW and most of the time, the change is bad, and we just roll with it:

EPCOT - Wow look at all the walls, it seems these walls have been up for years, oh well lets get on The Frozen ride.
FROZEN - Yea, this attraction used to be about Norway since this is the Norway pavilion but they changed it to Frozen for some reason. Oh boy, that's a really long line. it literally goes all the way to China :) ok lets get on line.
F&W - Oh look that sample is $8.50 now, oh well, let's get in this long line to get a couple. I am glad we came now, I would hate to have visited in the two week window there is no food festival in EPCOT!
HARMONIOUS - Hey look, there's some heavy construction going on in the lagoon, look at those ugly construction barges. Oh, these are part of the new show? They stay out there all the time? Wow they are big and ugly! Well I am looking forward to the show!
MASKS - What we need to wear masks again? NO, NO, NO NO! I am outta here. Lets go to Universal....

I would imagine that the charging more would have to be done very creatively. I think if Disney raised the price to $2,500 per day and gave a $2,350 discount for showing proof of vaccination it would be interpreted as requiring vaccination to gain access.

They could offer perks like free FP if they have a paid FP system implemented and that would pass the test of the law. Or, similar to Krispy Kreme, they could give free Dole Whips if you show proof of vaccination.

Specifically regarding masks, they could have a policy of you must wear a mask indoors and on all attractions but if you show proof of vaccination you get a wristband that exempts you from the policy. I don't think they have any desire to have to deal with the enforcement but they could if they wanted to.

Disney has institued the policy based on CDC guidelines. There is no use debating if it’s right (but I would love to see how many people arguing against it own a MPH, MD, DO, or Biology PhD.) Just stop and go air your grievances in the politics board. Some of us check this thread to see if anything has changed at WDW.

When are they not being criticized? Oh yeah, whenever they say anything but “it’s over.”

I mean, the surgeon general doesn’t represent “the people”, the mayors are conspiracy theorists, and the doctors don’t know anything.
I don't think that's true at all. I read a lot of criticism of the CDC when they dropped the mask mandates for vaccinated people a few months ago. That was absolutely true of this thread, but many health experts also criticized the CDC for being premature and advocating something that was unworkable (masks required for unvaccinated but not vaccinated). This agency is taking some serious hits, and many believe it's warranted.

You know what's funny?
I deleted my post when I realized what thread this was. Wrong place to have this conversation. I have a response but I don't want to fill up the thread with more stuff that doesn't belong so I will leave it.

Curious to see if his Margaritaville resort complex near WDW has a mask policy.
I am actually pretty curious too. I am also curious if the Swan and Dolphin will be aligning with Disney's mask policy. Right now their website states the old CDC guidance, unvaccinated need to wear masks but vaccinated don't.

One would think all resorts should align. The prestigious Four Seasons at WDW should be in line too.

I don't know if it's accurate or not, but FWIW, posters on the Swan & Dolphin FB group page are saying the hotel has reverted to requiring masks indoors in the hotel (except in your room, when eating and drinking in the restaurants, etc.).

Sometimes they are a little delayed in posting the most up to date info on their website, but appreciate the confirmation.

For all the people that have been to Disney during the indoors mask mandate (with no social distancing) how was the indoor interactive shows? Still the same experience im assuming? Like philharMagic, its tough to be a bug, and others. Also with Laugh Floor opening up on August 8th (one of my favorite shows) im wondering how that will go with everyone wearing a mask. I'm assuming it will be the same experience but I just want to hear from someone that has experienced it. Thanks!
