My family was actually joking around this morning about what we are going to do with our pile of masks. It feels weird to throw them all away. I guess we should keep our favorites and put them in a keepsake box to tell the next generation about? I don’t know ...we just spent a fortune on those things because there are six of us!
I threw most of mine away the day they announced fully vaccinated people no longer needed to wear them here in Nevada. I kept my 3 most comfortable ones in case I ever need to wear one again, kept a few Disney/decorative ones, and saved my box of disposable ones for painting, pouring chemicals, dirty work, etc.

I was amazed how many I’d accumulated over the last year trying to find ones that were comfortable. I probably tossed 30 cloth masks in the trash.

I keep one in my pocket in case a store requires one but haven’t worn a mask since Thursday (the last day my job required them) and it feels great.

Just about all government mandates for masks (outside of special indoor spaces such as health care facilities) have now been dropped. New Jersey, one of the most stringent states for mask mandates has just dropped theirs.

The conspiracy that there was a cabal attempting to brainwash the public into unquestioning obeisance through masks mandates was just that: a crazy conspiracy.

Maybe people's push for the wearing of masks was based on something other than a crazy conspiracy... maybe it was just a response to a world wide pandemic.
I think Illinois just dropped them for vaccinated persons. Other states are dropping them for everyone?

Until something goes badly wrong

At what point is it just life though? All the bureaucracy is the reaction to a situation...than the situation goes away but the bureaucracy
I’d prefer a hybrid. Checks and balances are good for safety, consistency, and ensuring all areas of a huge resort are on the same page, but Disney has too many levels.

You‘d be shocked at the process to get a lightbulb changed. It doesn’t stay burnt out because no one cares. It’s the convoluted process to get it changed out.

But remember safety! There is no perfect balance...it is legitimately and unequivocally in bureaucratic nature to exsist and to grow and to push further. Has the FBI ever shrunk? Or the CIA what about them? Those ard obviously very dramatic examples but it always grows....even in the private sector nobody wants to say hey my job...its useless you should let me go.

Illinois dropped it for vaccinated, NJ is dropping it for everyone. Since it's not practice in most scenarios to verify vaccination, there end up being only a subtle difference between the two.
I've been to a few stores and restaurants since the CDC revised its guidelines. Only one grocery store changed the "masks required" sign to "masks no longer required for fully vaccinated persons." Macy's changed to "masks recommended" and our favorite fast-casual restaurant just took down the "No mask, no entry" signs.

My view of this is that businesses are not going to take on the burden of enforcing the revised guidelines by checking vaccinations status. That's not surprising since the federal government has decided not to create a verification system. I suggested months ago that after any union provisions have been handled, WDW could very well just put up signs saying "unvaccinated persons are strongly encouraged to wear masks." Now I'm thinking they may not even do that much.

Most big stores in CT dropped the mandate “for the vaccinated”. This evening was the first time my wife and I went maskless (Walmart) and it was surreal. About a quarter of adults were maskless. No one wants to be “the first,” but I imagine by July 4th, there will be no masks in stores here.

technically good times Phil is dropping it for “vaccinated people”....but knowing that nobody will listen...they managed to stall enough to get the first shot rate up above 60% by the time it’s lifted.

they wanted 70%...but couldn’t hold any longer.

the good news that should be enough to mitigate most of it...
...and for the knucklers who wanted “ma freedom” and defend the shield of the bankrupt boardwalker...they “win” too.

ain’t nobody telling them what to do!! And the 70% or so that will be vaxxed by June will protect them with the shield we have volunteered to create...including my kids...

and if it doesn’t...nature will do what it wills.

People don’t want to be “babied”...well I’m ok with that now 👍🏻

What's going to get interesting at some point is when places like Disney, banks, and other high-security businesses want to start forbidding masks on customers again.
I doubt they will, I work in a casino and many of our asian visitors have worn masks here for years, our only rule is they have to show their face upon request, usually to verify age via ID. Full face masks, like Halloween masks, are never allowed though.

I have noticed Targets near Disney have all removed the indoor mask mandate and signage. Many people walking around the shops with no masks on. I imagine it can’t be much longer before Disney removes indoor mask mandates as well. As these common stores that people visit everyday in their normal lives aren’t enforcing it, guests will be much less likely to put up with at Disney. “I don’t have to wear a mask inside Target or Walgreens but you want me to wear one in the outdoor Galaxy’s Edge shops?”
